Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines - buy this game

I'll bet someone money that this will NEVER be a daily deal. Activation is clueless about this game people, only if valve was in charge of that stuff would you see one.

Into the main Vampire folder in steam apps for the patch then? I want to make sure I do this right.

That is correct.

You should be able to find the file for the resolution fix in the Extras folder.

The only game with better faces in existance is LA Noire.

And that's because they cheated.

I fucking WENT there. Come at me!

What kind of character should I be?

Brujah, Ventrue, and Toreador provide the most basic experience. Good way to start.

Some people say you should save Malkavian for your second time, but I think it's fine if you start out with it as well.

Nosferatu is a drastically different experience however, and I'd say you should stay away from it on your first playthrough.

Hell yeah finally.

Rule 1: Wait for Daily Deals still applies though.

Don't lose your heads just because the whale is sighted folks. Have patience and steady your shot for the right moment.

What type of character are you looking to pursue? social/firearms/melee/stealth/etc?

Please tell me that this game is better than the shitfest that was Arcanum?

Coming from a huge Bloodlines fan, I also think Arcanum sucks.
Y'all crazy. Arcanum was awesome, and what Fallout 3 should've been.

The reason Malkavian and Nosferatu are great for second or later playthroughs is they're so strikingly different from the other vampire clans that it makes for one hell of a contrast.

But yeah, stay away from Nosferatu for your first time specifically due to the way they play (which is extremely interesting, it should be noted). Malkavian is pretty cool for a first playthrough but you may not get to see just what's so different about that clan.

Malks also provide pretty heavy spoilers before things happen -- if you're smart enough to pick up on what your character is saying.

So yeah I try to start up the game and I get an error that says: "available memory less than 15MB!!! -1"

EDIT - Fixed it by changing compatibility XP.

Went for Malkavian myself, did the question thingie. I really understand why malkavians are refferred as lunatics :D

Indeed, I'm about to start a fresh new playthrough myself. Except I don't know who to pick between Malkavian and Nosferatu. :( I've play both before, but I don't really want to pick another class.

I am tempted to buy this but since I am so in the dark in terms of pc gaming can someone tell me if my system can run this?

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6700 @ 2.66GHz
2.7 GHz Performance Rated at: 6.21 GHz
Windows Vista
GeForce 8500 GT

Canyourunit tells me I can run it but I just want to make sure.

Here are my specs, will I have a problem running this on Vista?

I installed the patch from the OP. My system says there is an error everytime. The error claims I have insufficient memory under 15MB's. Any thoughts? I am running WIN7 64bit.

You want to download and install the unofficial patch...it's up to 7.5 now. I posted a link to it earlier today on another thread.

I did that, I think the problem is where I installed it to. I will find out in a minute.

Damn you all, will this run on a shitty PC?

When the game came out my rig specs were:
Windows 2K Pro
Athlon XP
1 GB Ram
6600GT

I ran the game smoothly at 1600X1200 (no AA, 16X AF) by turning off shadows. Unless you have something with Intel integrated graphics and a Celeron you should be fine

When installing the unofficial patch, should we be installing basic or plus? Any issues just installing the plus version?

IIRC the basic install fixes the release bugs only while the plus patch modifies the game (item placement, combat mechanics some other stuff).

Played the game for 80 minutes so far. Its great. Really feels "Deus Exy" like some say. Though one thing I found weird is how sounds that are suppose to be heard from the left speaker are heard from the right and vice-versa. Weird glitch, but other than that the game seems bug-free...so far.

On paper Arcanum is by far and wide the deepest role playing game ever made.

Unfortunately the developers never heard of game design, pacing, or bug testing with it.

I'm a first timer and picked the Gargian or whatever clan (the loner one). Hope that was a decent decision.

BELIEVE

I'm half asleep and thought that this was a real poster for a game at first glance.

I was like "HOLY SHIT VAMPIRE WHALES? THIS MUST BE THE GAME OF THE CENTURY!"

Heh. I've played everything except Gangrel...
When I reinstalled because of the last LTTP thread I was going to finally try them out but at character creation I just couldn't pick anything but my beloved Malk female

Gangrel is fine, good melee class. My favorite to start out with is still Ventrue/Toreador, love talking my way through missions.

Melee is quite OPed in the vanilla game, but the unofficial patches seemed to have remedied that somewhat.

Agreed, Arcanum is still criminally under-appreciated despite being the best and most ambitious game Troika created (once the unofficial patches have been installed). A spiritual successor to Fallout if there was ever one.

This game was so fucking good.

I really liked the stuff like having your own laptop with email, hotel room, the newspapers, tv reports, hacking computer systems, the powers etc...

I do have a few mods for this game saved on my hdd somewhere, better skins and stuff I can reupload since most of the fansites which hosted them are dead now if anyone wants.
Also things like better signs and proper fangs and stuff.
