Yurikuma Arashi 4:
Without a doubt, this was the best episode of the show yet, and it shows a path forward for the rest of the show. It's also the most consistent episode; clearly being one single story and not feeling like a two or three cour show packed into a single cour. A lot of the repeated imagery takes on a more meaningful purpose here, too.

By far the best thing this episode does is fleshing out Lulu's character. Over the first three episodes, the main cast largely felt disposable. They each had personality quirks, but no one had really gotten serious development. This was kind of necessary based on the story being told, but it's a relief here to see Lulu fleshed out really well. This whole episode is pretty much centered around her, and it works. The heavy backstory focus is definitely something that feels like an Ikuhara staple, and I'm sure we'll be revisiting the past in the future more heavily to see more of Ginko's past (we can kind of see a little of it here).

The Court of Severance cast also get to do some new things in this episode, and we see them working as functional characters rather than simply saying the same basic lines over and over. Their purpose seems a little more clear, although there are still some questions. And beyond their in world role, we see here how they can function effectively as a greek chorus. This is another story telling device Ikuhara likes a lot, and while we didn't see them serving this role too much in the first three episodes, here that comes across really clearly.

And I have to say, the bit where
Life Sexy does the "Shaba-da" completely in tune with the dramatic music
is one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. It was just pitch perfect.

The storybook feel of this episode took the show into a completely different direction compared to the feeling of the first arc, and it worked much better. I hope that the show builds on this going forward. The episode really encouraged me about where the show is going to head going forward.

Yowamushi Pedal Grande Road Episode 15

The anime is always at its best when its a Naruko or hotshot episode and this was the best of the season so far. Wow. I wish I was there to high five Naruko too, he was amazing.

I wept bitterly though, when he couldnt see and hotshot was getting all emotional for him. Their bond is deep

Ok I changed my mind this show is genius. My sides have been liberated.

Did they just walk up to someone random on the street and ask them to do this?

Mate.

I don't want to be one of those guys.

Nor do I want to sound like I don't appreciate your effort.

No seriously I just saved that image, so thanks.

But you should know I got banned here for linking to some swimsuit asses without the NSFW tag.

I don't want my first ban to be over an image of a giant woman wearing nothing but an apron constructed like those Halo 3 custom maps where people made naked animu ladies out of spawn points so I will oblige

HEROBANK Episode 42 – Castaways! Big Money Company Assemble!!

Kaito indeed, even a typical Kaito herobutt moment from Nagare nice. Loved the fight
due to his evolved form, and also Sekito being related to the previous antagonist. I wish he revealed this secret

Perfect decision for where to take Kaito next.

Sailor Moon R 29-30

So Crystal Tokyo is in the 30th century, meaning we're talking not just a few decades, but a few centuries. How is Usagi still alive at that time? If Chbiusa is her daughter and she's really young, just how long did she wait to have kids? Seeing Pluto make her appearance was nice, and I'm certain Usagi's body is like 25% cake by this point. That much richness would have to make her crash at some point. I appreciate this episode appearing now, for giving me a chance to get to know these new villains before they show up in Crystal - their recastings were just announced today, with Houko Kuwashima as Esmeraude.

Thank god the temporary breakup is almost done with.

I enjoyed my time with that, but no. The answer would be Nozaki-kun.

This would be a perfectly acceptable AOTY 2014.

Nanoha A's 2

So, Nanoha managed to find the two richest girls in her class to be friends with, eh?

And now Fate works for the Bureau.

Well, I guess one way to show how dangerous a new enemy is would be to have them completely humiliate the old big bad. Shonen as it may be.

Did Yuuno just copy Naruto?

And now for some food porn.

Looks like she was really struggling with that wheelchair joystick.

A magical German sword. They're going all-out with the voice acting. "Panzergeist!" had me in stitches.

[INSERT PORTAL REFERENCE HERE]

This is already getting pretty intense. I'm expecting some powerups for the heroes in the future.

A's basically stays around that level of intensity the entire time. Its just awesome. Basically took the most powerful characters from first series and immediately laid waste to them.

Asobi ni iku yo! episode 1

Decided to watch this dubbed, which the dub is pretty good overall. Seems like its setting up to be a harem of sorts maybe, but it looks like theres going to be alot of action so thats always a good thing.

This show is great and you should feel good.

World Break - 03

IT'S CHIAKIIIII OMIIIIIGAAAAWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HHHHHHHNNNNNNGGGGHHHHHH AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Well thats really all I need to know.

Another 1-13

If someone told me this show was intend to be a comedy, I would believe him. There are nothing scary or creepy about that show. I like the dolls though, and the ending is kind of surprising.

It is a comedy. A well crafted one indeed.

Jitsu wa Watashi wa is getting an anime

ANN Source

Those faces...Kinda frightening yet interesting.

This isn't the first time I've ever referred to this so I find it odd that it's only just started to cause confusion. Something must have happened at the beginning of 2015.

Today we can see a show one hour after if broadcasts in Japan thanks to streaming services whereas in the past we could potentially wait years. This meant that shows that broadcast in different years in Japan would premiere at the same time in the West giving a false impression of the quality of the shows at the time. Also we have access to a much wider range of shows, almost being able to see everything on offer, compared to having the shows picked for us by the television channel owners, who would of course choose what they felt would appeal to their audience. This of course means we weren't even aware of the rubbish being broadcast in Japan at the time. I hopefully don't have to explain why I used Cowboy Bebop and Gurren Lagann.

tl:dr: Watching anime on TV meant getting a distorted image of anime output and didn't reflect the reality. That is the fantasy season.

I get your jist. Basically its like a classic rock station. Someone new to listening to music would hear all that and think that classic rock was just chart topping catchy excellence, but there were a whole ton of duds that never caught on and forgotten.
Today anime fans are REALLY spoiled rotten.

Saekano 2

Kato is best girl. I just really love her character.

Rolling Girls 3

Definite step down in animation, and the story wasn't too interesting, will keep watching though.

Koufuku Graffiti 3

Still such a feel good show. I also want omurice now.

Cinderella Girls 3

Anya is so cute please. I just really liked this episode, the performance at the end was pretty cool. Can't wait for next week.

Log Horizon S2 08

I'm glad the dude is finally dealt with, cause holy hell was he uninteresting. He's sort of like Doomsday from Superman, an enemy who has no real character other than he's real tough. Also I feel that getting rid of the magic circle is gonna come back to bite them in the ass real hard.

Fucking amazing episode. the usual antic at its finest, shit the serious part also competent this time, what the fuck this show gonna became legit good now?

Even that new character Salamanwhatever is surprisingly interesting and had nice dynamic with Ange (btw I love Ange always misspelled her name and the show ingeniously didn't goes to the usual animu 101 and had the girl goes tsukomi and yelling how Ange spell her name instead just chill with it, its actually funnier that way and refreshing)

And oh what, the preview for next eps also look great!

An excellent episode that provided us with a backstory on Lulu and her purprose (along with Ginko) for traveling through the wall of severance. I'll admit that
Lulu was pretty fucked up as a kid, sending her brother to his death multiple times in order to reclaim the attention of the kingdom once more. It's very interesting and cool to see her journey with Ginko as a way of repentance for her previous misdeeds. It shows that she actually has a heart and wants to do what she feels as right.

Somehow this is the best episode yet ... and the only one that was easily to follow.
It wasn't without hints at other stuff but overall the quality of the plot remained good.

Lulu backstory was great. The underlying consequence seems severe ..but i'm quite puzzled on the fact that if you turn human , you lose the right to the "kiss" ..i feel like there is a double/triple meaning there that i haven't nailed yet.
Yuri%20Kuma%20Arashi%20-%2004.jpg

Damn , this "close" ....
...to call him bearnator ,
he survived lava in a paper box, lol...

How ironic
that he got killed by bees.
More intresting that the only bee so far in the show was lulu's.

Oh ..... that was the connexion !!!!

Gonna be the Twin-Tail!! Episode 11

Wow that series took quite a turn in a strange direction.
Strange is good.
I like Spider-Guildy a little more than Dark Grasper, not even crazy about idol version. I love the twist of
Soji changing completely into a (well endowed) woman
based on the things that happened in the previous episode. Of course, more jealous from Aika, which makes Twoearle chucke, which = bodyslam. xD

Loved the touch of her being in the opening theme since the 1st episode :)

6krImH6.jpg

Twoearle continues to be my second favorite character after Solar. Wondering how this is going to all spin to a close in one 22 minute finale. Hope there'll be more in the future!
and more Solar <3

So they are on the human side of the wall? Then what the fuck does that stupid wall do? Do you need a human form from the court to get over, is it that easy? Why is the court so biased against the human side, what is it's purpose? She gave up on kisses (probably the Promised Kiss, whatever that is) what does that entail? What promise did Ginko make with Kureha (I assume) if one is a bear and the other is not? I have SO MANY QUESTIONS

I feel like this episode answered questions (and was actually well paced) but I also feel even more confused. The backstory and characterization were needed, though.
New ED art, RIP pancakes, but Solune should like this one

Obviously they're PETA

Ronja 17

Man, this show is an utter delight, even if characters finds the need to state their feelings and thoughts out loud which is a slight pet peeve I have. If this tale really was inspired by a scandinavian tale I now find myself curious if it was like this originally or if they took Romeo and Juliet inspiration. Regardless, Ronja and Birk make a cute 'couple' and I hope they stick together through the end of the show. No need for tragedies please.

No matter how many times I hear the mother's song/lullaby it never gets old. Beautiful.

Absolute Duo - 04

Bunny teacher is the best teacher. Loving her "true" personnality.

Also, anime . rhum raisin doesn't work that way. I know since i'm eating this like breakfast since i'm a baby.

Now , transfert student is an irregular , but is also an irregular if she think she's going to crash that harem rather that integrate it. Rfiles are cool . Magical rifles are better

1422299546497.jpg

That counter faint was well done

The heroine is cajun-tier of cuteness. The cajun-tier exist. i've seen it !

Ps: that headmaster better be part of the "plot" more from now on. Will be intresting to see how far she can go in order to get her perfect duo.

So much Sentai swag.
Why cant they do this more often?
Because you need Pony Canyon to make good Japanese packaging/artwork. People complain about AoA's releases not having stuff when the JP set is just as bare (excluding character song/OP/ED CDs and commentary tracks). Even still, Sentai gives you no video extras in that set (bonus shorts, making-of, talk shows, web previews, etc). That's seriously how much was in the JP sets.

The way the artbox is designed though, I wonder if Sentai plans to license S2 (or did they already?)

Sentai has S2 already.

Just finish watching this show few minutes ago and letting the whole story sink in a bit here so, all this will be fresh from what I watch. The basic impression is the show is decent for what it's trying to do but because of the situation the show went through at that time when it aired (it was cancel with low ratting), a lot of things in the show feel rush quite and the ending which didn't answer quite a few questions which still linger after you finish the show. I will go a bit detail in my impression.

Storyline/ Plot development
The story for the Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross is as generic you can get from the 80s anime sci-fi mecha show at that time. A planet is colonize by the human been. A special army call the Southern Cross is established for this colony as a protection force from outside invaders. This become important as an alien race call the Zor manage to get orbit of this planet, stopping other human space military to come and rescue the colony and the Southern Cross force. Basically, leaving the people on the colony to fend for themselves. For the audience, you follow one squadron in the Southern Cross call Squad 15 in their fight against the Zor.

For anime fans who watch a lot of the 1970s to 1990s, this storyline idea is been done before and what make it even funny (if you didn't catch it yet), it have some similar tone idea from Super Dimension Fortress Macross (hence the title...). Even with the generic storyline, it does stand out a bit when you see the plot development. You start to see how the human colony react when they see the alien Zor orbiting around they colony. They assume Zor as a hostile invaders trying to take over the colony and launch into a war against them without stopping to found out why this alien race never want to attack them but always orbit they home colony. You eventually found out that the planet colony the human is living is actually the original planet the people of Zor use to live before they leave the planet (which they didn't explain in the show). The most shocking part is when you found out the Zor inhabitants is actually have the same ancestry as the human. This is major development as you follow Squad 15 trying they best to found out the mystery while at the same time, try not to kill the Zor inhabitants as basically, they're killing they own life form.

Another thing, they talk about is the connection between the Zor and the flowers. From what I gather during the show, the flower is design to keep the Zor inhabitants obeying with their leader and also control they emotional. Unfortunately, the Zor can't replicate the flower chemical that well and the consequence is the aliens (in theory) is going against their leader and start to have they own opinion by themselves and feeling. Basically, the flower is like a drug to keep them alive. Without it, it will cause chaos in Zor society, basically, making the leader job to control the people even harder. The planet where the human colony live, they is a hidden location where the flower is left which the Zor is trying to get to (mostly to replenish the drug for their people). At the final episode, this explain a bit more with the leader saying the flower is a way to give the eternal life to their people. This is all well until near the end, almost all the flower that was destroy at the end of the show, basically, giving the Zor inhabitants they own freedom.

Character development.
From what I can say, the character development of the show is might be one of the stronger point. From the beginning of the show till the end, you follow your team member and other side characters and you see them developed quite a bit as you process into the show. This is major as most of the show time is design to developed the main and supporting characters of Squad 15 and the enemies and ally. This is unique at that time as most 80s robot anime I watch, the character development is mostly basic two dimensional while most of the show direct the audience for the fight scene than the character development. For the Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, it's kind of opposite. Not saying, this is bad as you will see space fight scene but it's more of the Southern Cross military fighting the enemies than the Squad 15 (which is odd as you see them in more fight in the beginning of the series than the rest of the show).

Another thing the show did which you don't see in the 80s is the major main character and also the strong side characters are all woman. This is uncommon at that time and feel unique when you think about it.

Animation
The animation look okay. This show was shown in 1984, so it age quite a bit which is either a hit or miss for people who`re watching it. Not really a major issue but from my DVD collection at full screen, you can see it doesn`t look too sharp. I guess the footage ADV got for this DVD isn`t the master but can`t say really. All I can say, it look like it can fix up a bit by cleaning the animation a bit more to make it look a bit nicer. Guess, this is what you can get here right now, till they release this on blu ray but don`t think they will for a while.

The issue
Now, the biggest issue with the show isn't from the show itself. The show have potential in so many ways. It have a woman as a lead character in the show (and kind of three strong woman characters when you think about it). The show's focus on character development as the resulting slower pace show which is different in a robot genre at that time. The major issue is that the show is trying to be like Macross when it should try to be differentiate itself from other mecha genre at that time. I guess the audience who is watching the show get tired from the slow pace and go watch other Anime at that time frame. This is sad as it force the show to shorten down and you get a conclusion ending which is rush through and didn't really make sense at all or answer all the questions you still have with the show. This is sad as the show have potential but never have a chance to expand on it.

Conclusion
So, should I recommend this show to anyone? Well, it depend how you see this. I guess if you go in expecting more of a fighting show with robot fighting, you will come out disappointed. If you go in to expected some decent character development and a bit interested story and plot development, then you might feel the show is okay but feel rush like me when I watching it. I guess if the show didn't cancel early, the show might be different and more development of the characters and story will be interesting to see. I guess if you have an open mind a bit of what you watch, this show is something to check out at least once. It isn't going to beat other robot genre at that time frame and most anime fans might think the show is boring, but if you have the patience for the slow pace anime, you might see some potential of this anime which didn't have a chance to develop at it full potential.

Slayers NEXT Seyruun Takeover

We have the housebroken Martina returning, with some antimagic hijinx and hostile take over situations. No doubt Seyruun would get an arc given everythign leading up to this moment as well as well as Amelia still existing.

More importantly, STRATEGY WITH A NEW SPELL. In where I started to question how much MP does everyone have?

I wonder what Xellos ultimately has in store for us though...

Ok, this was an episode that I could really sink my teeth into. Lulu's backstory was pretty engaging, and pretty much everything involving the bears was great. I'm glad we got this episode early on, because I'm definitely feeling Lulu and Ginko now.

More of this please

Just finished Heartcatch Precure and now i'm feeling empty. Anyone have any good Magical Girl show recommendations?

Don't know what you've seen before, but Nanoha's a decent magical girl show. Its first season is kind of eh, but its second season A's is awesome.

Mazinkaiser - 3

You know, I can't remember the last mecha show I watched where the villains made the smart move of attempting to assassinate the pilot outside of the mecha rather than having to fight him in the mecha.

Though I doubt they'll attempt it again.

Yuyuyu for recent stuff, Symphogear for something a little off-beat, Shugo Chara for something still aimed at a kids' audience.

Durarara episode 2.

Uh,well that was interesting. It went over the events of episode 1 from a different characters perspective. Pretty neat.

A bit too philosophical for my taste but my interest is piqued.
