Doesn't even come with the Titanfall controller. LOL.
While this is basically a $60 price drop for those who were going to buy Titanfall anyway, won't it look weird when stores are selling an Xbox One without a game for the same price as one with a game?
They probably have a ton of consoles sitting in China that they're just putting in new boxes with a download code.
You can expect more pack ins this fall. Microsoft will be bundling for sure. Maybe two games per console but I expect a variety of official bundle packages to cover the consumer range. I'd say Forza 5 is a safe bet.

If MS doesn't at least come close to PS4 numbers in March (<10k) the XB1 is in trouble.
Yes.. it's going to sell great on all of them. And then we can bust out the MS family numbers. Will Titanfall even be a major system seller when it's on PC and 360?
It's a good idea, they need to do something to push hardware sales. Respect for early adopters can't paralyze the business.
Yeah, everyone saw this a mile away. Once it was made exclusive, it was gonna be a pack in.
Call of Duty:Ghost and Battlefield 4 were THE best selling games on Xbox One and PS4, and honestly, the biggest system sellers on PS4 and Xbox One. Those games we're on Xbox 360 and PS3, yet people flocked to them on Xbox One/PS4. It's going to be the same with Titanfall. People have the desire to play the newest games on the newest systems. Will Titanfall even be a major system seller when it's on PC and 360?
I know a lot of people with PS4s that have gaming PCs as well that they built towards the end of last generation.
Also I can't see current 360 owners rushing out to buy a One for Titanfall when they can get it on their 360.
Everyone except Microsoft, apparently, who seems to have cobbled this thing together at the absolute last moment.
Not coming packed with the Titanfall branded controller is absolutely ridiculous, even if they're trying to keep the price down.

Titanfall is going to move a lot a units, I don't see why there's always such a need to "discredit" the game and it's ability to sell consoles.
That was my first thought. Don't they have to do a real price drop on the non-bundled consoles? While this is basically a $60 price drop for those who were going to buy Titanfall anyway, won't it look weird when stores are selling an Xbox One without a game for the same price as one with a game?
Ya.. it's really in trouble selling more X1's than 360s in the same time period so far.
And if the PS4 loses to X1 in that sales numbers is that doom and gloom for the more powerful less expensive console?
Nahh.. I don't think so. Just like MS isn't in trouble right now.

Not everyone can afford to spend $500 or $400. That's the biggest problem with the Xbox One and PS4 currently. The price is expensive and a huge barrier for most people. While they were the best selling games on Xbox One and PS4, they still sold more copies on 360 and PS3.

You really wouldn't be laughing if you were the one out of sixty dollars. Apple did the same thing with the iPhone in 2007 and gave everybody a $200 gift card to shut everybody up. I hope Microsoft will do the same thing in this case for sixty bucks. It is a bit soon, admittedly, but I've also been enjoying my XB1 and my PS4 for months now. Had I waited for an XB1, I wouldn't have played it this whole time (and Killer Instinct is awesome).
Sooooooooooooo.....
People getting mad at this are funny and I snicker at them.
Everyone except Microsoft, apparently, who seems to have cobbled this thing together at the absolute last moment.

I own both the PS4 and Xbox One, I had Battlefield 4 on XBOne, and was sorely disappointed at that shit show, and I'd heard rumbles of the bundle when it was 'leaked' a couple weeks ago.
But My point above still stands, Nintendo gave early adopters a 10% discount on digital download titles if you got the Deluxe sku, why does nothing similar exist for people who had enough forethought to get "Day One" editions, or otherwise? In reality the only benefit of that version is an achievement and an extra decal on your controller.
I'm bitter, sure, if this was more than 4 months post-launch, I'd be less upset, but it's just silly at how soon they 'ignore' those who 'helped' them not look even worse in the PS4's sales shadow.
I feel like this price cut might have made a difference but for the fact that, you know, the X1's competition is still markedly more powerful and $100 cheaper. Titanfall is fun enough, but it's just the first game in an eventual multiplat franchise, and in the meantime, a whole lot of gamers also have access to either a 360 or a PC.
MS packing their Killer App game with the system at no additional cost (essentially makeing it a $60 price cut) would suggest that they do not share your optimistic appraisal of the situation.
While generous, my thoughts are
1) Doesnt change a thing. If you wanted an xb1 because of titanfall, you either bought one already or would have bought one regardless, and MS basically just gave money away here. People dont sit on the fence over 50 to 60 bucks.
2) Related to #1...how this would sway a PS4 leaning buyer I have no idea.
3) Similarly, if you just planned on getting this on 360, I dont see how this adds incentive to fork out the extra 400 bucks.
Its generous, but reeks of worry. I also wonder if they have market research thats telling them TF is going to underperform on xb1? Probably not, its tin foil hat stuff, but it crossed my mind.
Your analysis is flawed. 60 dollars matters.
Just like the 100 dollar price difference between the consoles matters.
That was my first thought. Don't they have to do a real price drop on the non-bundled consoles?
11-year live member here too, and there is no way in hell that they will do this.My thoughts after absorbing this, having just bought my One 32 days ago and as an eleven-year LIVE member:
I think MS should now, without any doubt offer the One's digital download version of Titanfall at a substantially discounted price (say, $19.99) if not free to One owners. If they're giving it away for free to people buying One's now and I think some recognition for those who already bought a One in the launch window shouldn't be left hanging.
When Apple dropped the price of the original iPhone 3 months after the iPhone's launch in the summer of 2007, they gave every early adopter a ~$100 Apple credit. When Nintendo dropped the price of the 3DS, early adopters were given free games to compensate.
You do have to do something here, Microsoft. It's poor form not to. Don't make your most dedicated salty towards you. If you want to boost PR and customer satisfaction, that's what you'll do.
It's not even the price of the game so much as it is the principle of the matter. I wipe my ass with $60 these days. See, many of us bought a One knowing the library was limited right now, but felt there was enough to tide us over until Titans were falling. You know, like how every early adopter does with almost every system. I think most expected some sort of good bundle or price cut around or after E3...certainly by Fall 2014...but E3 is 3 months from now and we would have understood. But moving on price cuts while still in the launch window...and including the one game everyone bought a One in anticipation of for free? Again, it's the principle of the matter. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and there aren't many things MS has done in my 11 years of LIVE membership and Xbox gaming to leave a bad taste in my mouth.
...
If not that, they should consider some sort of special program offering special discounts for that special core of gamers who bought a One before March, 2014. Something like the WiiU's Deluxe program.
So yea, something. Anything. But I need MS to respond with a bit of good will here for all early adopters.
110% agree with you here. Even if they don't give us the game for FREE (the early adopters), heavily discount that shit so I don't feel salty and rage sell your console. My thoughts after absorbing this, having just bought my One 32 days ago and as an eleven-year LIVE member:

$400 vs $500 matters.
$400 vs $500 + free game is cloudy.
$400 vs $450 would probably do more for sales. Why? Because not everyone may want Titanfall, but they do want to save money.
Considering they already gave the EU a free pack-in back in November, I don't see current owners get pissed off by the bundle. People who want the "xbone" to fail may be bothered by this.
I hope it sells very very well!
The small userbase due to the limited availability is the biggest culprit. Not everyone can afford to spend $500 or $400. That's the biggest problem with the Xbox One and PS4 currently. The price is expensive and a huge barrier for most people.
Yea this is leaving a bad taste in my mouth too. I bought a One just for TF.
I'm bothered by it. I could have waited 3 months and gotten Titanfall for free?
