Xbox One Titanfall Special Edition Bundle announced. $499 at select retailers

Seriously? The PS3 launched in 2006. Uncharted 2 was released in 2009. When did the bundle even come out? Was it even in 2009?

This is a raw deal for early adopters. I'm not saying we should get the game for free...but there should be something just to say thanks. I'm not holding my breath though.

You did get something.

Months of gaming joy with Killer Instinct, Ryse, Dead Rising, and Forza!

(All joking aside, this is where the dreaded ENTITLEMENT comes from guys)

But how many out of the last...say...15 console launches have had a price drop within 3 months? There's a reason people are surprised. It's because this is very uncommon.

all of that is irrelevant. This is one of the possible outcomes of being an early adopter. MS obviously feels like this move is needed so soon. Giving away the highest profile game coming up for the console probably wasn't an easy or cheap decision.

The wiiu bombed worse and still hasn't had a price drop with similar bundles. Early adopters are just fucked with a console that will get awful support its entire life as it struggles to match gamecube numbers.

Complaints about being an early adopter?

I think people in the US who pre ordered the console have a right to be super salty. For one they didn't get a free version of FIFA or Forza at launch like those in the UK did, and this Titanfall news is just another kick in the nuts. Like Dreams said this is not about the 60 bucks, just the principle of the matter

I mean why!? you can say the same thing about every other single bundle its been released... I bought my PS3 with the Uncharted 2 bundle, No one was bashing that bundle as far as I remember.

the PS3 Uncharted 2 bundle also wasn't released within 4 months of the original console launch date...

I don't understand the anger over the pack-in. Do Xbone fans not want their console of choice to be more successful than being outsold 2:1?

As far as i'm concerned those who went against fellow gamers and bought the system at full price don't deserve to get Titanfall free. It should have been a united stance against Microsoft's policies that would have taught ALL companies a lesson on not screwing over the consumer but instead fanboys and impatient people who have no self control ran and bought the system anyway.

At least they should have done what I did and buy it, play with it for a month and return it don't keep the damn thing. All that does is make MS's numbers look good and justifies their scumbag decisions. If you want these companies to respect you, the consumer, then you need to hit their pocket book. Repeatedly. I tell Nintendo fans the same thing but no one is listening.

Err...but if you bought it, you still added to their sales numbers on that month.

Eh sorry Microsoft. Not even Titanfall is enough for me to throw down $500.

Come back again maybe when you drop the price down to $400 and I'll think about it. Until then I'll be playing Titanfall on PC.

Which are?

I'm not paying $500 just because you throw in a Multiplayer Only game. Either include a single player campaign or drop the price of the console to $400 or I will wait for an even better bundle down the road (hopefully one that includes Halo 2 remake and Quantum Break)

Yes, your highness. Also... President Obama is waiting for you downstairs my grace.

Don't feel entitled at all. Just a little swindled. Don't worry....I and many others will remember that.

Precedent is entirely relevant in the context of a discussion about surprising turns of events that are unusual in the history of a given industry.

It's rather disingenuous to suggest otherwise.

That's a good question. I'm curious how something like this should be handled.

They send in vendor reps with the cardboard Titantfall graphic that goes around the existing Xbox One Standard Editions, they open the box, insert the DLC Card, reseal the box, put the graphics around the older graphics and done.

This happens a lot with bundles at retail, especially with DLC bundles. They can also, just apply a sticker onto the existing stock, insert the DLC Card and call it a day as well. Since the only difference is the DLC card for the game.

Don't get jelly that those of us who waited are now able to negotiate MS down for a much sweeter deal. I hope your not one of those people that pays sticker price for homes & cars too?

Exactly, I don't understand why anyone is defending Microsoft here after only 3 months they have a bundle. It's totally different if it's a year or so but this soon after release is not acceptable.

So did people who paid launch price get pissed when Fifa was bundled in Europe yet was $60 here? Come on, guys. You should know by now that if you aren't prepared to pay a premium for less content you shouldn't buy a console at launch.

You were an early adopter. That's what being an early adopter means.

Which are?

I'm too lazy to type out a full response especially since you know damn well what I'm talking about. But i'm referring to the always online/DRM policy that they later removed but suggested they will consider bringing back at some later date, making micro transactions a big part of their games, putting everything and the kitchen sink behind a paywall, etc.

This is on top of Microsoft's insulting bad PR of nonstop lieng and waffling coming from Larry herb and the PR team and MS's head scratching decision to jump in bed with cable tv and making gaming hardware an afterthought.

I don't know. I live in the U.S., and I don't feel wronged.

People outside the U.S. were paying more than me anyway, so it never bothered me that they got a free game, and I wouldn't want to have waited four months for a free copy of Titanfall.

So Nintendo and Sony should he in the same hot water, right? Half a year after release Nintendo included all $80 worth of NSMBU content in a bundle, and Sony included Knack for free with the Japanese launch.

Microsoft wants to move systems. If you wanted the best deal possible you shouldn't have bought at launch.

Those monsters! I will never buy another Sony product again!

I don't. I think they have anyone but themselves to blame. They knew exactly what they were getting for the price.

if the xbox one sold better they wouldn't be giving titanfall away in a bundle. Who knows how well it will work anyways since major retailers were offering $50 gift cards already.

MS just announced this, maybe they'll offer some kind of ambassador program for people that bought early.

That makes sense, along with the free game bundles going around.

If it was just a free Titanfall people would'nt moan much. Just a price cut? Same. Both? At the same time and so soon? Hmmm. Some people are going to be irked. If this had happened in Sept or Oct again, no real moans. It is, I feel, all a bit too much too soon for some.
Personally I don't want Titanfall (if I did I'd get it on PC). The price cut? Well, Microsoft are obviously getting a bit desperate so it can't be helped. It's the curse of early adoption.
That said Sony have yet to make such moves. They've had virtually no bad press since launch, unlike Microsoft. I wonder if they will react?

hmmm might be seen as off topic a bit but digital code means $40-$50 titanfall codes from people selling them B^)

might just buy a code and save $10-20

I bought a day one console and while I'm a bit :/ I did play some decent games and wasn't gonna wait

at least its not a special edition console with the titanfall controller

but what's gonna happen if sony does an infamous bundle for $399? *puts tin foil hat on*

would happen too since I'm bad luck and I did buy a PS4 a couple weeks back

I think you got your threads confused, this is the one for just free Titanfall.

This. No salt from me as I knew I was dropping $500 day one and eventually there would be bundles, price drops, Target gift cards, Amazon lightning deals, etc.

I don't understand this bundle. This early in the game, at 500 dollars, the folks who want Titanfall should already own the console. $60 ain't a thing at this point unless you're already on the fence. And they didn't even throw in the Titanfall controller.

I'm getting the feeling that this game isn't going to be the system seller that it's been hyped as. Not because of its own merits, but because of that $500 price tag.

Don't buy any electronics. Ever. This is routine.

I understand this is common practice. I guess I just didn't expect it to happen as soon as this. I'm not really concerned about the money spent, just the principle of the situation.

At least when Nintendo did this with the 3DS there was an ambassador perk for early adopters.

The wiiu bundle is different since it was a year after launch. Knack for ps4 launch is sorta the same thing but it's also different because it's only one region. This is all regions and with a console that is also dropping price in other regions as well. There should be something done for early adopters since this is a big fu to us but considering it's Microsoft, I'm not surprised.

Don't feel entitled at all. Just a little swindled. Don't worry....I and many others will remember that.

How exactly were you swindled? Was the Kinect or a Controller missing from your Xbox One when you bought it? I don't understand how you can use swindled?

Did you buy a PS4? Like someone else mentioned, Sony released the PS4 in Japan with Knack included (A $60.00 game), did you feel swindled about that as well?

They don't really have any other exclusives until Sunset Overdrive which is out later this year, so if they want to create some kind of plan/excitement refresh, then this is their only chance until Fall.
