Xbox One Titanfall Special Edition Bundle announced. $499 at select retailers

Maybe it's just me but I'm not to impress with this bundle. I'm looking for an excuse to buy Xbox One but the deal needed to be a little sweeter for me to jump. I'll just get TF for PC and keep waiting.

I don't want to pile on here, but MS seems to be saying "Hey if you didn't buy an Xbox or support us we'll reward you buy getting Titanfall for free! If you did support us too bad, cough up another $60."

Good thing the folks in the other thread didn't buy a console yet. I mean it's only been 94 days since launch. I get bundles and all, but the supposed biggest game launch this time of year for free.........for free?

As a Day One adopter I'm not too upset by this. I understand that when I purchase something it is because it was worth the price to me at that time. I really love the system and have no regrets. However, including the most anticipated XB1 game for free is somewhat disrespectful to early adopters. I love my Day One box and Day One Controller but I would like if they gave early adopters 10 dollars in credits. Either way I'm not mad, but just wish they would have had some bonus for early adopters.

Hold on. Some of you people actually thought the Xbox One wouldn't get a price drop within 2 years of release?

A ton of people were calling a price drop within a few months before this thing was even released.

A year or more is more understandable than 3 months.

500 is not free. They still have to buy the box...

My thoughts after absorbing this, having just bought my One 32 days ago and as an eleven-year LIVE member:

I think MS should now, without any doubt offer the One's digital download version of Titanfall at a substantially discounted price (say, $19.99) if not free to One owners. If they're giving it away for free to people buying One's now and I think some recognition for those who already bought a One in the launch window shouldn't be left hanging. Limit it to being available for the month of March or through April. Something like that.

When Apple dropped the price of the original iPhone 3 months after the iPhone's launch in the summer of 2007, they gave every early adopter a ~$100 Apple credit. When Nintendo dropped the price of the 3DS, early adopters were given free games to compensate.

You do have to do something here, Microsoft. It's poor form not to. Don't make your most dedicated salty towards you. If you want to boost PR and customer satisfaction, that's what you'll do.

It's not even the price of the game so much as it is the principle of the matter. I wipe my ass with $60 these days. See, many of us bought a One knowing the library was limited right now, but felt there was enough to tide us over until Titans were falling. You know, like how every early adopter does with almost every system. I think most expected some sort of good bundle or price cut around or after E3...certainly by Fall 2014...but E3 is 3 months from now and we would have understood. But moving on price cuts while still in the launch window...and including the one game everyone bought a One in anticipation of for free? Again, it's the principle of the matter. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and there aren't many things MS has done in my 11 years of LIVE membership and Xbox gaming to leave a bad taste in my mouth.

...

If not that, they should consider some sort of special program offering special discounts for that special core of gamers who bought a One before March, 2014. Something like the WiiU's Deluxe program.

So yea, something. Anything. But I need MS to respond with a bit of good will here for all early adopters.
33 days for me, feels bad man.

*manhug*

I am also an eleven-year Xbox LIVE member. I got in on the very first day it was available for the Xbox. That's how I got my four-letter Xbox gamertag.

I'm sorry the timing of your purchase was so ... unfortunate. It's still early in the day, maybe Microsoft will announce some sort of deal for the early adaptors in the interest of keeping goodwill with their core customers.

I hope so to, and hello old fart! I too originally had a pretty epic, short gamertag as one of those "first month" LIVE subscribers. Back when Mechassault and Ghost Recon were fucking amazing social experiences with strangers. lol.

I have changed it over the years, but it was pretty cool originally. I do hope MS does something. That's all I can say at this point.

The problem that MS faces is still $400 vs. $500. You can argue that you get good value for $500 thanks to the included Titanfall game, but that price disparity is still there. Last gen people used to argue that you get more value with PS3 early on due to Bluray and free online MP. Most people didn't care, it was still $300-400 vs. $500-600. Until they get the XB1 down to $400 (take the $ hit or remove Kinect), they are not competitive. Titanfall bundle is a bandaid that will prop up sales for a month or two before a proper price drop later this year.

Let me know when it's $399 without Kinect and there's a decent arcade fight stick under $150, since KI is the only exclusive that'd get me to buy one right now.

I mean why!? you can say the same thing about every other single bundle its been released... I bought my PS3 with the Uncharted 2 bundle, No one was bashing that bundle as far as I remember.

This is exactly how I feel, I got my system at launch and just wish they would give something to the early adopters.

Xbox One Day One adopter. I'm pretty annoyed by this since it was only 4 months. When Nintendo lower the price of the 3DS we got free GBA games and the Wii U we got 10% back. I feel pretty screwed by this move by MS. Glad I was able to spend $500 to help them stress test their game that everyone now gets for free now with a new system purchase.

Retailers are already sitting on a massive xb1 inventory, what happens to those? Do they just sit there while retailers have to order more titanfall edition consoles? Dissapointing that this bundle doesn't include the titanfall controller, btw.

I'm not paying $500 just because you throw in a Multiplayer Only game. Either include a single player campaign or drop the price of the console to $400 or I will wait for an even better bundle down the road (hopefully one that includes Halo 2 remake and Quantum Break)

As an early adopter, most of you should know this by now. It happens with everything that is sold. I bought my Truck when the new years version came out, 3-4 months later it was cheaper. That is how it is when you buy stuff. Really don't understand why some of you get your panties in a wad and feel entitled to something because you are an early adopter.

Another example....The Sony 55900A (Non 4k) was selling during the holidays for $2299.99, last week Best Buy had the same set for $1759.99. During the summer, this same set was selling for $2499.99 and when it came out in April or so it was selling for $2999.99. This happens with everything. Get over it.

I'm curious as to how many of these they're going to be able to push onto retailers. Most are already bogged down with existing stock. Last time I was at Costco, they had a pallet with about 60 on it. I don't see them throwing a Titanfall bundle pallet up next to it. Granted, Costco is a warehouse store so is a bit different. Most of these stores already have extremely limited electronics space.

I assume they'll just continue to offer giftcards or outright include a retail copy of the game with green box One's.

Sure but there are precedents set in all of those industries. I didn't expect my BMW to retain its value when I drove it off the lot. I know how that system works. And we know the TV market is permanently in flux. A TV that's only sold at MSRP today might be on sale next month. That's the nature of that industry. But how many out of the last...say...15 console launches have had a price drop within 3 months? There's a reason people are surprised. It's because this is very uncommon.

Whats also interesting is that Costco is selling the system at a discount for $480 I believe. If anything for people wanting an xbox they should definitely buy it at Costco instead of other retailers.

To be fair this is pretty fast as far as consoles go.

This sets a terrible precedence if MS does in fact release a successor to the Xbone. Why should I buy their console Day 1, as I have every other MS console, if there is a good chance to receive a price cut or pack-in game within a few months of launch?

This really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'll still buy Titanfall and have fun with it, but I can't help but feel taken advantage of.

Don't buy any electronics. Ever. This is routine.

Yea but like I said before I dont believe this givaways is enough, you're still shelling out $500, people just want to do that, they need to lower the standard console, make it $399 and stop dicking around, that will move stock faster then adding a game.

It's been less than three months and they are giving away their most hyped game of the last year. Wow.

I think they realize they are in a fight and they need to fight back with whatever they have. Sony has done such a fantastic job and with all the blunders MS has put themselves in, they know they have to do something. For a company to say, we are going to give away $45.00 ($45.00 is the average cost they charge to retailers for a $59.99 game) to everyone who buys this bundle. This is calculated and not something that came about yesterday. It has been planned for a while.

They know they have to fight back and I am sure this bundle is more of a test to see if bundling a game is enough incentive to push people into buying at $500.00. If it works and they fly off the shelves, you can expect more bundles vs. an all out price drop.

Glad I'm waiting. Sucks for the people that recently dropped $500+ just to play TF, and If they waited a little longer could've gotten it absolutely free. Now I'm definitely waiting for a real price drop for halo...

You chose to be an early adopter. Not only you beta tested Titanfall for them, you beta tested their OS, their hardware all the while paying full price for games with a small selection. Early adopters pay the premium to get the least for the pleasure of having the console day one.

As annoyed as you are remember that you willfully chose to be in this situation. The last three big handheld and console releases (Wii U, Vita, 3DS) all had big sales or price drops within their first year on the market. As did past consoles like the OG Xbox and N64 which happen in 4-6 months.

Mobile devices get undercut and obsoleted before you can get them home from the store. The days of early adopters having some halo of price/value protection around them have been over.

Seriously? The PS3 launched in 2006. Uncharted 2 was released in 2009. When did the bundle even come out? Was it even in 2009?

This is a raw deal for early adopters. I'm not saying we should get the game for free...but there should be something just to say thanks. I'm not holding my breath though.

As far as i'm concerned those who went against fellow gamers and bought the system at full price don't deserve to get Titanfall free. It should have been a united stance against Microsoft's policies that would have taught ALL companies a lesson on not screwing over the consumer but instead fanboys and impatient people who have no self control ran and bought the system anyway.

At least they should have done what I did and buy it, play with it for a month and return it don't keep the damn thing. All that does is make MS's numbers look good and justifies their scumbag decisions. If you want these companies to respect you, the consumer, then you need to hit their pocket book. Repeatedly. I tell Nintendo fans the same thing but no one is listening.
