yPC users nearly always win these situations. Stuff like this happens all the time on PC, and PC gamers stand up to it, and usually (but not always) they get what they want in the end.
and now you will see that narrative going on in social media. Sony had a lose-lose scenario with this one

Its funny seeing console gamers get so worked up over this, a situation that isnt rare on PC.I suppose it involving Sony got the warrioas ruffled!.
They will look even worse. They pay for online, they pay more for games. They look like docile and obedient dogs... not a good look at all.

This is why PC is the best
nah. (it's different)
. Its a community that basically runs the show with no mega corp owning PC.
because is open.

Everyone has to bow to what us PC gamers want in the end.
PC gamers love to pay for trash tho. early access is one of the worse PC practices, which have ended up in projects that never see the light of day/scam players.

Console users just accept whats thrown at you from Sony and MS.
there is a reason why GTAVI is goingPlace to be released on consoles first.

The irony is that console gaming offers the premium experience, a place where you don't deal with PC bullshit, and everything is bespoke-built. However, for this to work, a walled garden is needed

is crazy/funny to see how PC gamers are using that platform to "Console warring".

It most likely has to do with the countries that would've been cut off, instead of the whining itself.
The fact those have been removed from sale still tells me they're going to go with the benefits approach down the line unless they make it available again soon. It'll be sad if all the whiners in the supported countries did was use it as a crotch for them to not make an account and keep their status quo but ended up making it worse for the people who they claimed to be concerned about.

So what will those naysayers insulting PC gamers have to say now?
That this was a reasonable solution by Sony…. And they want your money. Which you will give them.

And life goes on.

What more is there?

(And if I was to guess, if they want to change their policy… they will grandfather current games in and make it clear for new games.)

X Axis = Sony benefits from linking accounts
Y Axis = Shit show from customer reaction

The two lines on the graph obviously crossed down at Sony HQ sometime in the early hours.

Good job PC gamers. Dont let Sony force their PSN logins 3 months into the game so they can spam you PS promotions to your inbox.

Now just make sure for any of you who got banned linking in out of country PSN accounts get it reversed.

I'm willing to bet that's very much the case.

I highly doubt Johnny in the US really cares about someone in a country like Zimbabwe or Nepal not being able to play the game.

They're basically gaming's Karens.

Sony was trying to pull MS gold live thingy on PC gamers... they got fucked the same way MS did back then too. without any lubrication too.

the bullshit you pull on the console idiots, keep it there for your self. bring it to PC and your game is dead. at the end of the day money talks. and Sony like the rest, will kiss your feet for your $. let that sink in.

hopefully next, console gamers will stop being retarded and stop giving money to play online. what a fucking scam. and the idiots keep paying. its amazing !

The plus side for PC gamers is that I'll assume (I know assuming is bad) if they are willing to reverse PSN logins for PC gamers for H2, that means they'll continue not needing it for their future GAAS games too.

But you PC gamers will have to wait and see on that one.

What happened, is a shitload of Steam refunds probably happened the past 48 hours so they reversed it.

This is great, and, while i can't help being slightly more cynical in my outlook of PC gaming as a whole, it gives me a ray of hope. This is basically the PC gaming community pushing back against a single bad tactic in such great numbers that a major publisher had to renege on the bad tactic.

We still have a lot of other shit to fight over: Intrusive and cumbersome launchers (EA, Ubishit, Rockstar, etc), greedy monetization of content (see the Tarkov drama for a new example), blatant disregard for optimization (Jedi Fallen Order) or for feature completeness (Starfield), etc etc.

PC gaming clearly has its own share of problems still to deal with, but this thing with Helldivers & Sony sets the right precedent. Small victories are important.

This debacle was so big, Sony and Arrowhead made the decision to reverse it on a weekend. Their tweet was at midnight, so they purposely waited till what is technically Monday morning.

People are still trying to push the idea that fighting registration to a free account is akin to fighting paid online? Where is that irrational thought coming from with some here?

I think what they are fighting is Sony changing the deal 3 month after they took people's money. Had they released the game with the account requirement I don't think the response would have been that big at all.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Probably first thing Monday morning, likely they'll retract this mandatory requirement too.

It literally was the first thing they did Monday morning lol

They did launch with the requirement and Arrowhead running their own backend did the right thing of allowing you to skip temporarily. They didn't change the deal after people bought it. It was stated at the point of sale and on boot in the game. People just didn't want to create an account. It is what it is.

It went like this:

Sony: Awesome sales. Who gives a flying fuck about regional availability, making PSN logins and gamers getting banned

Gabe: WTF is with this BS. Hey gamers, Valve will refund your money if you dont like the PSN login shit even if you played for more than 2hrs

Sony: Red alert! All you fucking employees with a company cellphone or laptop, there's an emergency meeting Sunday afternoon. After lunch or church, login asap!

Sony: Game is getting bombed and Gabe issued a statement offering blanket refunds. Sales tracking has showed tons of refunds already the past 48 hours

Steam employee: Hey Gabe, Sony has sent us a notice saying they are dropping PSN logins. They are requesting we take down the refund offer

Gabe: WTF? I'm eating dinner now. Cancel the refund offer when we see it publicly stated so they dont BS again

Steam employee: Sony tweeted at midnight no PSN login required

Gabe: Ok, lets revise the refund offer soon

Well at least be honest about it then, it's the bare minimal you can do instead of faking the funk and gaslighting everyone in posts like the majority of what saw online was seemingly doing.
They can do what they want, use whatever tactic they want, to get what they want. Why are you sticking up for a mega corp?.
The people won, deal with it.
'Be honest about it' fuck sake lol. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Props to Sony for not doubling down on the policy. If the want to make the account link optional that’d be neat too. Give players a special helmet or cape if they wanna sweeten the deal.

Video Games Freedom GIF by PlayStation

Excluding 177 countries from cosmetics?! The review bombers will send another payload.

It probably was but so what?. PC gamers didnt want it and they took action and reversed it. They won, Sony lost. PC gamers just dont bend over and take everything thrown at them form mega corps.
Why are console gamers so upset about this?
We aren't upset over it.

We're amazed how upset PC gamers were.

The only legitimate concerns were from those in unsupported countries.

Also plenty of people were honest about it. Copers acting like the only argument was about countries without PSN when it wasn't even the majority of what people complained about.
