This is great, and, while i can't help being slightly more cynical in my outlook of PC gaming as a whole, it gives me a ray of hope. This is basically the PC gaming community pushing back against a single bad tactic in such great numbers that a major publisher had to renege on the bad tactic.
We still have a lot of other shit to fight over: Intrusive and cumbersome launchers (EA, Ubishit, Rockstar, etc), greedy monetization of content (see the Tarkov drama for a new example), blatant disregard for optimization (Jedi Fallen Order) or for feature completeness (Starfield), etc etc.
PC gaming clearly has its own share of problems still to deal with, but this thing with Helldivers & Sony sets the right precedent. Small victories are important.
