INFO
This weekend, the New York City Virtua Fighter scene hits a landmark with its tenth NYG (New York Gathering), and to celebrate the occasion were going all out to deliver the best 3 days of VF that North America has seen in decades. NYGX will feature singles and team tournaments in games spanning the series history, namely:
Virtua Fighter Remix
Virtua Fighter Kids (YUP)
Virtua Fighter 3
Virtua Fighter 4FT
Virtua Fighter 5R
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown
All games excluding VF5FS will be played on their native arcade hardware. You can catch most of the retro entries on Friday, but theyll possibly show up on Saturday and Sunday as well. The main event, however, will be first and foremost VF5FS, and players will be arriving in NYC from all over the world* to compete for the crown**.
*mostly around the continental US, but also Canada, and two guys from Australia.
**there is no crown.

NYG9
The first New York Gathering took place around 2000. Can't find a solid date. Back then, VF3tb was the main event - and, actually, many believed it would be the final Virtua Fighter game. With each successive year, the small gatherings grew in attendance. In 2003 and 2004 the New York scene hit EVO, and around 2004 even visited Japan to compete there. The NYG series discontinued after 2008, and stayed dormant for years before reemerging after the release of VF5FS in 2012. Since then, each NYG has been better than the one before it, and this year is looking to be a huge success. I really, really hope you'll join us!
