its a game in development, to judge it now is a bit crazy.... and threads like this is probably why more devs dont do early access.
A game is available for sale, has sold 20 million copies on PC...It has one map, one map all this time. It's now on X and touted as a console mover, a certified big piece in MS's stable and you don't want DF or people to comment or judge what they're playing?

As I said before, the game cannot get 60 fps on PC on the lobby and the drop. Sometimes it even drops in red zones.

How the hell was the X gonna get better framerates than a PC? (Even decent fps)
Go back to that thread where people thought this would be 60fps on the X, some people just don't take a hint...It's the same way Ark was supposed to be 4k or 60fps on the X too......and the thing can't even do 1080p 60fps on a 1080ti with consistency.

It's the fact that Microsoft shipped in their own specialised team to help get the most out of the consoles, as well as The Coalition (Gears 4 team).

With both teams working on it and it turning up in this state, even at ”early access", it is a problem.
Imagine if there was no specialized team then, 11-12fps on the minimum with awful controls and aiming, by DF's now touted "ATG".....

True, but the X SOC the cpu is 30% clock improvement over standard One, and than something like another 30% improvement from the memory controller and cache improvements. According to this article the resolution is 1080p and 4k. I would have gone with 900p and 1440p.
A 30% improvement on clockspeeds on the jaguar is not going to give you a world of difference. The jaguar is not an i7......

Case in point, in CPU bound scenarios, you're going to get an uptick of 2-3 fps improvements for the most part....Perhaps you would see a bigger difference, if MS's OS didn't siphon the CPU as much, compared to other consoles...

Not surprising given the state of the PUBG on PC.

I can see this being a knock-on effect of building the game from store-bought assets; their quality often varies wildly, and there's no guarantee that a given model will have properly structured geometry, optimized materials, appropriate LOD levels to reduce detail and cost at distance, etc. It's a total crapshoot.

I'd love to poke around in their Unreal project and run the game through the shit ton of profiling and optimization tools that are packed into the engine. It'd be fascinating to see what parts are dragging down performance to that degree.

The graphic looks average at best, it is a shame

It's a rare game that can make Unreal 4 look like a low-to-mid tier Unity project.

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
The game is running on the Unreal Engine 4. How can they make the engine run that bad?

I actually thought it ran on the Arma engine.

Its fine to notice it or point it out. But it means exactly nothing. This is a beta test that they suckered people into paying for. Of course its going to run badly. If it performs badly after release, then absolutely they should be criticized, but the first day of early access, people are just reaching for something to attack if they are trying to make a big deal out of this.

Resolution is handled by the GPU entirely, wouldn't make any difference

My laptop runs the game better than this with a shittier gpu because my laptop has an i7 in it

There's very little reason to believe they'll make significant optimization changes before release. The PC user base has been begging for optimization improvements for a long time, but instead they prioritize a new map and pushing it out on Xbox. It makes sense when you realize the items being prioritized are making them fat $$$.

The problem is that they are hyping up this game. It has to be their biggest game for a long time. They've even made a commercial around it. They just don't care if it runs like shit at the moment. They just want to have the game first. What else do they have to offer in the coming 6 months or so?

To me..this is the funny part around it.
I could be wrong but State of Decay 2, Crackdown 3 and Sea of Thieves are all supposed to be out during the 1st half of 2018 I think.

For PC....which has been in development a considerable amount of time longer than the console version.

And? It's the same codebase. Feature complete on PC is the same thing as feature complete on console. Unreal wraps the integration side of things to the degree where making a working Xbox version essentially means 'optimize more'.

People are seriously concern trolling over a game in early access?

Trolling?

When a game comes out in the preview section it usually has a timed free trial. This does not.

This game has been so hyped by MS and alot of their Brass talking about how great it runs and feels.

Yes a game like this deserves getting bashed even if it is early access.

How many people would have loved that 1 hour timed trial or even 1 match trial? I am betting alot of people would have waited to buy it if they would have known even on the X frames can drop into the teens and even single digits on OG hardware.

Not to mention the whole fiasco of some site "leaking" this game was already running on the X at 60 fps.

I remember I joked that it will run 20 fps on basic console and stable 30 when author said that it'll run better on X and people expected 60 fps in the future.

Guess I was too optimistic :D

Give me a fucking break. You were getting all excited in the other thread when you thought it was 60fps on the X so clearly early access wasn't a factor then. Now that it's a known mess, the damage control comes out and all negativity gets swept under the "early access" rug.

This is one of those unique games where the developer nails the concept but lacks the tools, resources, and talent to fully deliver. Don’t get me wrong, the game will be super fun when it’s all said and done and fully released, but I hope this entices studios like Rockstar to go all in on a battle royale game with a triple A polish.

People are really using a poorly optimized early access game to criticize the power of the XB1X? Do you realize how fucking stupid that sounds?

An early access that is also one of the systems heavy hitters for the foreseeable future. Its disappointing for it to be released in such a state. I don't game on pc so I'm not used to this early access stuff but shouldn't a game be presentable if they expect you to put money into it already?

I'll be honest, I'm not really interested in this game so I've not been following it but how well does the game run on a PC with similar specs to the X? Not that I can really image many people combining that CPU and GPU.

This right here is so true and people are forgetting or not knowing about this. This is not good.

Before saying "unoptimized", ask yourself why no one of the AAA big publishers has attempted to make their own battle royale game, despite PUBG having sold better than any other game this year.

Does Epic not count making Fortnite? A Battle Royale game my PC can run at 144+FPS?

If a horribly optimized, unfinished game is the some of most fun you've had this year playing a video game, then I am very sorry.

Some 20+ million gamers also seem to be having fun with this game despite all it's warts and short comings. Perhaps there really is something to this game?

yeah but those 20 million plus are on pc where the game runs much better, i feel bad for everyone that is having technical issues but a heads up, the update on the test server on pc runs smooth as butter. constant 80 fps for me

Called it months ago. An exclusive partnership with Microsoft doesn't mean Bluehole is suddenly a competent developer.

Yeah, I'm actually surprised that they got it out this year (even in early access form). It was clear that a poorly optimised PC game in the middle of development was never going to be an impressive technical showing the the Xbox platforms.

Hopefully, with Microsoft marketing the game as a timed console exclusive, it'll mean that they will increase their technical involvement and get the core game tech up to scratch. This will benefit both PC and PS4 owners too in the long run.

I watched some of Major Nelson's stream of the game on Mixer and it did look like great fun despite the erratic frame rate drops.

Don’t be, it’s an absolute blast. Framerate is terrible but we can live with that on the first days of release of a early access. Will criticize if there are no improvements. :)

This seems like a game that would have benefited from The Cloud TM, guess it never existed after all

They've clearly rushed this game out for Christmas to boost console sales, give it a few months i'm sure there will be regular build updates.

For what its worth I had a couple of games on X and it was ok, the controls may take a while of getting used to however I found the basics better than PC, running jumping etc

In all fairness the game doesn't run nearly as bad when you land and actually start playing. As an early access game currently in development I'll be curious to see what types of improvements are going to be made as the patches start rolling out in the coming weeks.
