I wonder if 1up bothered to make a preview. I kinda just want to hear their thoughts again. Maybe Ellis adjusted to the new game.
I'm pretty sure they're doing a whole segment for the 1UP Show. Which will probably piss off some people: "Didn't they just cover Flopzone 2 already?!?!?!"

My guess is we will get something about the single player in the next 1up Show.

Edit: Damn it beaten...

I would like to see a comparision between E3 2k5 stills, and the stills from "Welcome" or the beginning of convoy.

In case people would like to be reminded, the there was a comparision between E32k5 and the June 08 build.

The graphics are absolutely amazing. I wish they can use that engine for a more interesting game, like an action RPG similar to STALKER or something.

That's odd. The appearance of the "hangar" ships don't match up in the two preview build shots. In the last pic, they look like they originally did, with the pointy Anubis-style "ears".

Anyone else see this? This is supposed to be a PDF file that was giving to the previewers. I don't know if it's fact or not so take it with a grain of salt.

For all those asking about the voices, this is supposedly from a PDF that was sent with the preview build to reviewers:

Known Issues

As Killzone2 is work-in-progress and still needs to go through Quality Assurance, the
Killzone 2 Single Player Preview Code does not accurately represent the final retail copy
of Killzone 2. These elements will be remedied for the final Game. Game elements which
are still under development may have been omitted or included in an un-optimized,
placeholder state. These include the following elements:

- Game Intro cinematic, in which the backstory is further explained, is not yet
available.
- Front/end menu designs are placeholder and will be replaced.
- Loading screen content missing. This will display various elements such as
gameplay tactics as well as background on the main cast.
- Dialog / Voice acting - The voice samples for both the Buddies and Helghast are
place holder.
- Cut-scenes have not gone through final polish in visual effects, sound effect,
facial animations and syncing voices
- Several Character Animation glitches can be spotted, most noticeably during
transitions.
- In some rare cases enemies or buddies can create progression issues. Try
Restart Checkpoint from the Pause menu to continue.
- Pay attention to the buddy and objectives in cases where the Direction finder (dpad
UP) system isn’t implemented correctly yet.
- Volume balancing for sound effects, music and voices has not been completed
for this version, resulting in louder than normal speech or sound effects as well
as audio cutting out. Suggested setting in the Options / Sound menu:
music=100%, speech=80%, sound effects=70%
- Brightness settings are not yet balanced for all screens - The option menu has a
brightness setting that can be adjusted to overcome overly dark areas.
- Ragdoll issues might occur when many explosions are triggered.
- The Lighting setup of the Suljeva Village mission is unfinished.

*edit, beaten*

looks fucking ILL.
awesome looking game.

my playstation has been neglected for far too long. can't wait to try this out.

the reload animations and gun models are insanely cool.

That's reassuring. Because when watching the videos I couldn't understand how a game that's over 4 years old (HL2) has better facial animations and lipsyncing than KZ2.

The torrents took all night, but holy shit ... so worth it.

Lighting, sound and particle fx are insane, mad props!

Congrats GG, you guys redefined the term GUNPORN!

I can't believe how close Guerilla got to the CG trailer. The only area where there's a tangible hit is the geometry and some textures. Everything else is either on par or looks better.

It doesn't look nearly as fluid, but I'd say that's impossible. Anyway, it looks as good as it can get as a real, playable game.

Dear lord... the graphics... the graphics.
Fuck, even if this game get thrashed in the reviews I will still by it for the graphics.

Wow.

And how the hell are people complaining about the square not being "windy", it's a square surrounded by buildings! The footage on the bridge has the swirling wind effects you crave.

And are ign trying hard to make the game look worse?

If anyone is close to London, SCEE are having a competition:

http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=323949
Sony wants to take you to the cinema this evening to watch Aliens and then to play the latest build of PS3 big-gun Killzone 2. That's very kind, especially seeing as 35 pairs of tickets are being given away for free.

The event takes place from 6pm at the VUE cinema in Leicester Square, London. "Real" Helghast soldiers will be marching around to add a bit of drama, and they will be posing for photos and not actually shooting people or repelling invasions.

The second and third shots there, in particular, are just sooo crazy. They really look like artwork rather than screens.

Will drop pants for Sony.

That is what I was thinking. They did the same thing to Gran Turismo 5 prologue.

The game looks mighty fine, but to call it one of the best out there artistically, is just insane. For me. IMO. And so on.

And one of the best shooter out there artistically speaking is fine?

wow, this game will be mind blowing in hard mode. Devs saying bullets will hurt more and yours will do less, just look at all the previews out there, you get hit quite often in the battlefield, it just seems like they're invincible in the preview build but you do see blood spots all the time from getting hit once here and there. That to me completely nullifies the AI complaint people are having (they're not dumb either from what we've seen)

Eh enemies being tough and accurate = good AI?

Can't be much more difficult than CoD on veteran.

Game looks mighty fine. Voice acting is pretty bad though.

This game easily has some of the best art direction out there, no question. I rarely see a game world so well realized. There are definite kinks in the technical armor if you want to nitpick... the game doesn't have Gears' jizz-mapping and the geometry isn't amazing in stills, but to see it moving, everything just WORKS. They made all the right stylistic decisions and technical compromises to give the game pretty much an unrivaled ''WOW factor'' in motion. Even the ''omgz so grey'' color scheme is totally distinctive, I bet even casual observers know right away they're looking at Killzone 2 any time they glance at any given random shot.

To be fair, HL2 still has the most believable facial animations than most (all?) games out there.

So I downloaded I think 3 of the movies last night from the torrents from Gamersyde. The others were taking so long I ended up going to bed. People remember to seed! I will be online in about 8 hours, and be on Resistance 2 with the GAF clan later, but will be seeding the whole time I'm on my PC (and downloading the rest of the videos).

I really don't see how anyone is complaining about the footage shown thus far. Gamersyde's footage was good, but obviously highly compressed (a 200 meg file at 720p for 4-6 min of footage is highly compressed). Still looked good though! I'm just saying that when I was watching it I was keeping in mind that the game likely looks a lot crisper in real life so was watching it through those glasses.

I do like the weather changes that they made where it's not quite so dark. It also seems to address the gaming press's criticisms of it being all dark and brown. Now it definitely pops off the screen. I'm pretty sure that all the embers being taken out and whatnot was a stylistic choice and that they could put them back in if they wanted to. I'd imagine maybe we'll see those embers later in the game. Seems like a lot of tech to work on to completely toss it aside. As I said, I think that might be overwhelming as a first level in a game, whereas this seems a little more "inviting." :D

I think FF XII, Heavenly Sword and Uncharted have better facial animation then HL2. but I agree, HL2 facial animation is really good

on another note. since it's now known that the voice acting is placeholder, do you think the current voice samples comes from GG staffs?

I really hope there is a level where you go through some dark tunnels and the blue glow off your suit illuminates the entire tunnel while creepy, ambient, claustorphobic noises make their way through.

FUCK GG, do it.
