One Piece Thread (redux)

Oho they finally animated the Wapol cover arc - even though it's mostly just the same stills shown in a minute long montage. Oh well.

I guess if Enel shows up again that will be their backup plan for the backstory, too.

Also: holy shit @ that headline. That Burgess motherfucker. I don't get what Blackbeard has against the revolutionaries. I'm also surprised they would win against Dragon and his commanders that he ordered all in at that time.

So I finally got to the impel down arc in the anime. Its stretched out a lot because
the crew is separated and there are catch up episodes with 2 crew members at a time

On episode 459. I really hope something happens soon cause its getting kind of boring.

Getting annoyed with Crunchyroll not putting episodes up when they're suppose to. It wasn't up 3 hours after they normally are. Not sure when the newest episode actually went up.

Anyways, happy we're going to see more of Kaido. His introduction was awesome but we've barely seen him since.

I think that was by far the weirdest side story I've read from One Piece.

I don't know what to think of Kaido yet. The introduction was good and bad at the same time. A pirate that can't be killed, but somehow he was captured and defeated several times by other pirates and by the marine. Then they also make him look like a wimp and let him try to commit suicide by jumping off of a Sky Island.

His speech was really the only thing that got me excited about him or what's to come.

I thought Impel Down was great. I just finished Punk Hazard. I enjoyed it a good amount but maybe that is just because of how slow and boring I thought Fishman Island was.

So... we just gonna accept Jack chilling on the fucking ocean floor!?

Just WTF. I mean, even if he's secretly a fishman or whatever, Vander Decken still had to avoid sea water and I doubt it's only because he would sink to the bottom.

(not to mention that strike should have killed him right then and there)

Is it weird I'm actually looking forward to the filler arc? Usually I skip the majority of One Piece fillers, because they dip TOO heavily into corny/cheesy territory for me - like the last filler arc they did with the guy who was basically a mine/train cart.........I can't, I CAN'T! However, the character designs for the marines look cool, maybe there's some potential this arc won't be trash.

He's a fishman he can't die from the water he just can't swim. The dude is a top brass from a yonkou, a elephant trunk swing shouldnt be enough especially if a admiral, a former admiral and a well developed vice admiral weren't enough

This is all filler right?

Pretty fun episode. Would have preferred them being incognito for another episode or so. The navy creep could have e.g. blackmailed Nami for some dates.

Enjoyed this episode quite a bit, was a nice good bit of filler. I like Grount & his two buddies, although I found it a little crazy that the marines didn't instantly recognize Luffy, who's only one of the most wanted pirates in the world. It's a shame this filler won't be around for too long though, it'd be nice to get episodes for the next story arc that aren't stretched thin & padded to delay from catching up to quickly.

Watching OP filler is so weird sometimes.
You notice that something is off from the usual story telling but at the same time the pacing is much better.

So they are starving again? Should have made them lose the stolen food to make the filler fit better in the canon.

Also what kind of ability is that devil arm supposed to be? Devil's fruit that only affects one arm?

Looked like some kind of experiment.

Happy we're back to canon. I've loosely followed the manga thread for awhile but started a bit after this arc started, so I'm not really sure what happens early.

Extremely lttp, but started getting into the show like 3 weeks ago after finishing Hunter x Hunter. As first pages of the thread stated, starts off pretty slow, but I've made through 50 eps and am in the beginning/middle of Loguetown. Show is awesome, and I wish I didn't get intimidated by the sheer number of episodes there are.

In any case, I've averaged 3-4 eps/each day I get chance to watch and want to take a day to just plow through like 20 eps. Reading everything about how it just gets better and better is exciting. I like the story arc length so far; even with a couple less than stellar arcs (intros to Buggy/Usopp), limiting each arc to 6-10 eps strikes a good balance between allowing for exposition and not dragging.

Basically looking forward to the next year and half or so of catching up. :)

You're gonna start hitting the super long arcs soon but don't worry that first long arc is one of my favourites.

I've still never gotten around to watching to watch the rest of the earlyish episodes. When I got into One Piece because of Toonami, I just continued on from there which was deep into Enies Lobby. I started from the beginning up to when they crossed the Grand Line but not any farther. Everything else between there and Enies Lobby I've just kind of skimmed around. I've watched the major battles that happen between then but not much else.

Just to let you guys know

Keiichi Ichikawa The character designer & chief animation director of episode of sabo & one piece heart of gold has taken over the role of chief animation director of one piece to help out Kazuya hisada, who will now focus on his role of character designer while ichikawa handles the chief animation role.

What that means is the style of the tv show is going to start looking different which has already began, get another talent person to help out is a big win for the series..

Sweet sweet! Yea you can already tell alil

Did Oda plan Sanji's family really right from the start and gave him his "3" name for that purpose?!
Or is he just using a play of words to name the siblings now?

Also lol@chopper going through Sanji's porn stash

He's in the opening but I'm kind of surprised we got a Jimbei tease already. I've loosely followed the manga thread for awhile but I only started when
Luffy was fighting some cracker guy
so this is completely new for me. Feels like this is going to be a really long arc. I only got into One Piece when Dressrosa was really far in so I haven't experienced what an arc that goes on forever feels like.

Originally he was going to be called Naruto but Oda changed it because Naruto was going to be launched.

I suppose someone will ask him in a SBS about this sooner or later.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
Would be nice if a couple more people from the manga thread posted here.
I think things will get louder in here when the arc picks up steam. We just got out of filler.

Really can tell the difference I'm glad they split the workload. Hopefully now the characters are drawn more consistently like they said

So it's true!? The anime looks better now??

Damn looks like I'll get back to it again. I stopped watching the anime at the end of Dressrossa and went to the manga
