The idea that it has to bend over to retailers still is nuts. Pre-load should not be held back for anything.

Use a VPN to start origin and preload. After it has begun you can simply disconnect and it'll download anyways - source: I'm doing it right now ^^

Probably because of all the maps, extra items and weapons, cutscenes (if there are any), and high res textures.

Origin shows the competed size and not the actual download size, it is a 20gb download. After downloading it will auto install and uncompress it, making it 49.99gb.

Unique assets instead of alot of procedural and instanced assets? I don't think size is directly related to subjective opinions on how a game looks. Besides if the full game is anything like that beta then most of that space is made up of sound. Besides iirc 49 gigs is the install space needed but you are only downloading 21 gigs or something.

For some weird reason all the publishers have decided that Tuesday is the day to release retail games in Europe. Even if this is a MP game, they still sell boxed copies and can't piss retailers off by releasing the game early online.
