I hate this community's love of dust 2. No, I don't want to play dust 2 every match.

yeah, seriously.

I really like overpass, but I hate that I have to wait 10 minutes to find a match as opposed to 1 min or less for any of the overplayed maps

VAC Bans are specific to a game or a game engine. If you get VAC banned in a Source game, you can't play any other Source games on VAC servers either. Same deal with GoldSrc. The Call of Duty games have had VAC since Modern Warfare 2 and those bans are game-specific. If they guy you played against got VAC banned in a Call of Duty game, his profile will state that he has a ban, but he can still play Source games just fine until he gets a VAC ban in one.

They changed it to be game-specific only. For example, if you get banned in GO, you can still play Source.

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
Then the Steam Support page on VAC is out of date on things other than just the list of VAC-enabled games

Kinda, sorta... not really?

Valve said:
Excluding the games listed above, VAC bans will only apply to the game the cheat was detected in. For example, a VAC ban in Modern Warfare 2 will not affect Modern Warfare 3.

They updated, kinda... they mean "outside of the above listed VAC enabled games, bans are specific outside of these."

So, GO isn't like Source that stops you from playing the other titles apparently.

Nice ninja, and even more impressive you had the balls to do that when the score was 15-12.

btw. which skill group was that in?
Master Guardian to Nova 3 range. I'm on a bit of a lose streak and lost my MG2 ranking, down to Nova 3 atm cus teams.

The enemy team had a couple Master Guardians, Cache has funny balancing issues due to the smaller player base.

Getting the latest crate is the most exciting kind of drop. Free money.

I ranked all the way up to Gold Nova Master. I hope some people want to play in the afternoon, because I'm not in a hurry to derank after losing 3 games in a row with randoms.

de_crown is FUN

I played it a bit on altPug and it seems like it has the potential to stick around. It's only after 243 matches but its cool to see that it's fairly balanced with a bit of an emphasis on T according to this chart. Granted those numbers will change once people learn how to play the map. I am sure a good portion of those matches were people playing for the first time and not having any idea where angles are. I wouldn't be surprised if T wins will drop once CTs learn what are good angles to watch on each bomb site.

I am curious to see what the pro's think of it. It's also good that they seem to be taking feedback and criticism and updating accordingly fairly quick. I know they have made a least one update with a good amount of fixes/changes.

Yeah, FMPONE has been really great about quickly incorporating fixes and changes based on feedback for Crown. I really wanna try it out in a comp match and see how it plays.

What do people think of Overpass? It seemed like a bad sign with CT's getting such quick access to the bomb sites, and I don't know it well enough to try it on matchmaking.

I've only played it a handful of times in MM but the quick access to sites wasn't prohibitive. Really enjoy it actually.

In other news, went 1-1 on bets today. GGs to Titan for shitting the bed against Na'Vi :(

I hate it

Last time I played it we really liked it. The recent changes made it quite fun and at least for that match it seemed okay balance wise. A spot is definitely harder to take though. Rotates from A to be are a lot of fun in my opinion.

Yeah they've made a ton of changes. I wish more people played it

What is the easiest way to pull clips from match recordings and upload to youtube?

I download my matches from the watch tab, watch the demo, and then record it via Shadowplay. I'm not into fancy editing though.

Open the console and type "demoui" to make it easier to find certain plays. You can skip between rounds, pause, and slowdown playback through it.

Keep in mind though that the tick rate when watching it through cs go's watch menu is 16 (i think) so it's pretty bad. You're gonna see people getting kills even when the crosshair isn't on them and quick scopes that are too quick. I have playclaw open during a match if I feel like recording myself and then I'll just edit out what I don't need. 9/10 I end up deleting the file. It's also nice cause you get to capture comms too if you want.

Like I said, I'm not big into editing... you see the kills, play, whatever, it's there :p

But yea, anyone who wants to make good looking edits should find another source.

I like it. The changes Valve has made to it have made it a lot more enjoyable than when it was first released. They seem serious about incorporating feedback and improving the layout and overall gameplay.

Whoa CS:GO had a bigger prize pool then LoL at Katowice? Or am I somehow reading that wrong? That seems crazy to me.

I have no idea how the LoL pool works, is it winner takes all?

The winning team in CS GO got 100k and then the runner ups got respectively less. Plus the entire prize pool is basically paid by the community through keys for crates, so that might also play a big role.

How the community pays for the pool prize is sooooooo smart by Valve at so many different levels.

Since when has 1 Long, 1 Cat, 1 Mid, and 2 B been the standard split CT side on Dust2? Like half the matches my teammates are very adamant about not having 2 people on cat even if they start triple smoking mid and rushing cat most rounds.

That's pretty standard in my experience. The difference is whether the person guarding long pushes up to doors/pit or sits on ramp/goose and watches long from A site so he can cover Cat if they come that way. It's pretty reliant on the person playing mid being able to make the early call, and if he goes down the person pushing long needs to fall back ASAP.

Of course this goes out the window if they are stacking Cat every round. If you have 3 people playing mid/B when they are doing that, then yeah, bad team mates.

That has been run for awhile, even back when I would scrim in 1.6. Recently I've been experimenting with 1 cat, 1 long, 1 B, 2 mid (1 with rifle, 1 with AWP)

In source I remember seeing this as standard to start out. I think the 'flexible' spot is the 2nd guy at B, if he plays CT spawn/mid or short instead he can rotate quickly. Same on train (start at B then rotate out straight away) and perhaps nuke (start at ramp). That's how I remember it anyway, it's been a while.

I agree with this. In my experience it's easier to coordinate a retake of B having 1 guy each at window and door and another coming through B tunnels, than trying to retake A and waiting for someone to get the rotate to long, for example, so that 2nd guy at B at the beginning of the round isn't as crucial.

Eh, I remember doing hundreds of 1.6 pugs on esea and 3 A was always default. Now it seems even harder to hold cat with mid box and better smokes shutting out the mid spotter. 3/2 splits with full nades just demolishes 1 long 1 cat from my experience. I'd rather nobody play mid if they start smoking off doors. Someone spotting CT spawn area from A or B should be enough.
