There will not a PC version announced anytime this year I would think. The Monday stuff is the press embargo ends for a visit last week when journalists played a pre alpha build of the game for a day or two.

Embargo up 10 am Pacific, 5 PM GMT.

Why doesn't it make sense? They have two different online models for their consoles. I could see the game not requiring plus on ps4 if it was mmo like and was subscription based but it's not the case here.

Good to know! Peeking back in this thread was worth it. :) I'm gonna say there's a 60% chance we finally get PvP footage and maybe even a date for the beta.

I would expect that the journalists got to play all areas of the game including PVP. I'm definitely hoping to see some PVP but not looking forward to Halo fans being devastated it's not the arena shooter they are wishing for.

I most want to see a 5 minute first person gameplay section through a strike, just to get a feel of the combat sandbox and what the engine is capable of now.

I fully expect a date for the beta only with a new trailer at Sony's E3 conference. It's gonna be part of a big final marketing push. Probably a rush of new pre-orders after E3 as well. Beta in June (shortly after E3), they adjust to feedback as best they can during July and August, then the game drops in September :)



also, there better be no downgrade from the Old Russia presentation. I'm still paranoid that a game so vast in scope can look that good.

The Old Russia stuff didn't astound me that much for a 30fps demo on PS4; I'd be surprised if the game doesn't wind up in that ballpark.

The PS360 versions will absolutely not be at that level of quality, though.

Yeah but what they released wasn't any different than what other previews covered in one day, right? I'm fully expecting that we'd get recap videos for the rest of the week. Useful for those who aren't following the game closely, I guess

nah, I still think it means the previews, new info, etc. Doors getting blown open, we'll probably hear about PvP and whatnot.

well, I would hope they'd hype their game through the roof :p People have been thirsty for new info though, alot of people still don't seem to have a grasp on what the whole game will be like. So this is a good opportunity to reveal scope, modes, multiplayer, etc.

A real beta would be early to give them time for feedback. If it's only 2 or so months before release, then that might as well be a demo.

I'm hoping beta comes early May.

"Early May" is anywhere from 5 to 20 days from now. I think if it was coming that soon, we'd have already heard about it. At this point, my guess is right after E3.

Well it could be either tbh. If it's a real beta, meant for feedback, it should last for quite awhile.. which would mean advance notice wouldn't really be necessary as the time period for testing wouldn't be limited so it wouldn't need to be planned for.

However, I could also see Bungie "saving" the beta for Sony E3 conference so that they can end a more extensive presentation with "and all those who have pre-orded Destiny for a Sony system can download and begin testing it tonight!"

No doubt about it. As much as I would love to play Destiny in "Early May," that's magical thinking. Never going to happen. Mid to late June at the earliest.

I think It will be right before E3 for Playstation and right after for Xbox.

Well the Halo 3 and Reach betas lasted a little less than a month, I expect the Destiny beta to last about the same amount of time.

It's going to be interesting what Bungie will offer in the beta. Will they have any of the narrative, social stuff and so on. Hopefully it won't just be the competitive stuff.

I only hope the preview will expand more of the things that were promised with Destiny when they talked about scale and universe.

How the in-game city hub feels. What you can do there.
What you do outside of venturing into the wilderness/different planet hubs.
The available methods of transportation.
The exploration of the worlds. The high-moments and the low-moments.

Basically the parts of Destiny that's more RPG-ish than it is FPS-ish. Right now, it's a lot of tease, but they've not shown those pieces outside of talking about them.
