There's another gif with a guy high stepping and leaping into his car...can't seem to find it:(

This is my go to "in" gif :)

That's what console wars foster really. Pretty much pointless graphics comparisons.

Yeah, it's a sad sight really. Best thing to do is just ignore that hot air and focus on what really matters.

The goddamn weather systems and locations.

*applause*

Anyway, if anything we should be boiling the conversation down to custom soundtrack support ;p

In all this excitement, I had completely forgotten about the lack of custom soundtrack support on both consoles.

We need to start a twitter campaign or something. I'd hate for either to be released without some form of or plan of patching in custom soundtrack support.

Aww I guess I will have to wait for Forza Horizon 3 to get a game like this set in Japan? Someone, pick up the slack left by Genki Racing Project! On the plus side, if there was ever a Forza Horizon Japan now, it would be mid-console cycle and hopefully full of more tuning options and aero parts.

I know, right? Let's all set aside our differences and unite the clans.

Is there any shame in admitting that I'll probably be buying both the 360 and One versions?

Horizon was one of my top games of the last generation; they pulled so much variety from just Colorado, I can't even imagine what they're going to show off when the game spans "Southern Europe."

I'm also really excited to see any open-wheel cars that might make it in the roster. If the One version is based on the F5 engine and the 360 version is based on the first Horizon engine, will they be adding open-wheel to the 360 version?
I wonder if they're going to have separate weather tires or if they'll have a type of "every condition" tire like the first. I'm also hoping that they take the F5 approach to engine swaps.

Can't wait for their preview tomorrow; really hoping they show off some media as well.

So this is a modified FM5 engine, a game that was downgraded from the reveal, and it's being used for a more open world racer? Is he sure people shouldn't be a little concerned?

It does not work that way.

It´s because we will never know if it couldn´t have been better if it hadn´t been designed with last gen in mind.

Yah, that's not going to happen.

Cross Gen on a 1st party major IP means they do not have that much faith in how it would sell only on XB1. No other way to put it.

Cross gen does hurt the game no matter if it's one developer or two.

You know it will

But Driveclub looks so much better.

There are still cross-gen worries here (as noted by friends of mine). Being cross gen means it's still shackled to 360 whether or not another studio is doing that version. The game still has to downport to run on 0.5GB of RAM, etc.

It's not a system seller. They'll probably make a lot more money off the 360 version than the Xbone version.

Meh, another year another Forza.
I don't expect this to be a system seller. Will probably sell better on 360.

Another cross-gen title? I was intrigued about this title, but I guess that's gone down on my list now.

So, what's left for XBO outside of E3? Sunset Overdrive?

There's been plenty of cross gen games that prove last gen consoles are holding it back. Cross-Gen means a game isn't living up to it's full potential and I don't blame people for believing that.

Unless the games are made completely separately, even if the X1 version is lead it will be held back to make way for the 360 version. There's only so much they can do. Then again, Forza 5 didn't look too hot on X1, but that was a launch title.

The last major release I think was Judgement last year which sucked, and Fable Anniversary, a remake. The year before that they had another Halo game. And then, there's the yearly Forza too. So 1 or two games a year? Yea, I'd consider that pretty abandoned. It'd be like if Sony scrapped the PS3's 2013 lineup and instead released TLOU, Beyond, Puppeteer, and GT6 on PS4.

I think some have lost sight of what a megaton is...

Wow, a cross gen first party title, that can't be good..,

So you think both versions are going to be using a fundamentally different engine?

Seriously doubt that.

Horizon is a great game, so I'm kind of happy to see a sequel. But cross-gen in a first party game seems...desperate? Sorry, I can't think of the right word, but it isn't a positive one...

Semantics really. I don't see how it's a "completely different" engine considering the minor improvements from Forza 4 to Forza 5.

I fail to see how they're fundamentally different. FH's engine was a tweaked F4 engine, FH2 is using the F5 engine.

F5's engine isn't fundamentally different than F4's engine. The improvements are fairly minor.

Annual franchise for a Racing game is a bad mistake.

If somebody could edit FH2 onto the cone that would be great.

Really Microsoft try harder to give people less reason to upgrade to X1. At least it's only cross gen in the way Titanfall was.

It's a game focused on luxury and exotic supercars. Most people here have probably never even heard of a Pagani, let alone an Esprit or XJ220. The car count is just fine and they can add more via DLC.

Who hasn't heard of a Pagani Zonda or a XJ220? I can see Esprit being unheard of, its a relatively overlooked car but the Zonda and the XJ220 are pioneers of their respective era's

This is incorrect. Another one skips the OP.

Titanfall was a multi-platform game build with a slightly different port of the same engine to the 360. Basically the same assets, with no special differences outside of graphics/res/small things.

The 360/X1 versions of FH2 are completely different engines.

Ha, good to hear it!

I was just kidding. I needed an excuse to use that Homer gif. There was never a second when I didn't intend to buy Horizon 2. The first is still my favorite racing game I've ever played. Open world + arcade-sim controls = win.

I'm glad you posted it, I needed an excuse to post the Pacino gif :p

I would really love to know why have you qouted me there.

yo amar, I'm not helios but you can bet your ass that horizon2 360 will support every wheel under the sun that 360 ever supported.
Also I agree that sumo is a fuckin' great choice, given the t10-playground tech they will come up with the goods for sure.

I am waaaay more excited for the xbone version though! 8)

I really hope so, because my CSRE is crying from loneliness for months now :/

Also, if this will be like I imagine it COULD be - damn. I am hating myself for writing this down, but if there will be some crazy Christmas sale in Austria and XboxOne become available for 350€ - I will go there and buy the damn thing, buy both FM5 and FH2, renew Gold subscription and hate myself totally :)
