The game sure has gotten a graphical overhaul since e3

Most notably the horrible sharpening filter is gone.

That tree on the left in the bottom pic is extremely low res and ugly though.

Jesus, CDPR is already offering a ridiculously low price for Witcher 3 and people are still trying to scam the company by purchasing through Russian VPN's and whatnot.

You guys suck.

I wouldn't go as far as the last point but I do agree with the rest. CDPR are one of the most fan/consumer orientated companies yet people are still trying to skim the pennies off the top. I know times are tight but come on...

Some people only have a very limited amount of money and giving GoG whatever they can is better than giving them nothing and pirating the game...

High or the highest (sans US)? Probably not the hgihest. The GPU arch in the 770 will be three years old by time TW3 launches. Probably not, would be my answer.

But the 770 is from June 2013, when TW3 launches that card wouldn't have even 2 years old!

I mean high, like highest of course, but with some things on medium like shadows, no AA (or sweetFX MSAA) and no ubersampling.

This talk that 770's won't be enough to run the game decently are really frightning me as a 770 owner. After all, there has been absolutely no word from CD Projekt Red concercning systems recommendations. So no one knows anything yet, really. And wasn't TW2 optimized pretty well? I have faith that they'll do well during the optimization phase.

I also have a 770 and I hope I can run maximum settings at at least 35 fps w/o ubersampling of course. If I can lock it at 35 I'm happy. I don't need 60 fps anyway.

In my case, I think it'd be better to upgrade my CPU. I now have a i5 2500k OC'ed to 4.1 ghz, but I don't really know what's on the market at the moment or what's coming soon.

Check-in if you're in the master camp:

You know you're half using this game as an excuse to upgrade your perfectly capable PC

This and Star Citizen will probably push me over the edge, I've never had a 'high end' system before so that's something I want to experience.

I have 2 on Gog, and 1 on steam. Do I have to install 2 to find my key? Is a way I can active 1 on Gog with my steam key?

No one is saying a 770 won't run the game decently (if they are, they are wrong).

Of course Durante but there are so many reasons to think about this situation.

Cause in 2011 when TW2 was launched, GTX570 was 6 months old and it was possible to run TW2 on ultra (W/O ubersampling) with 45-60fps...

But when TW3 launches, GTX770 will be 1 and a half years old...

And even more, TW3 is an open world game, our pcs will explode with those graphics! highest settings 30fps W/O ubersampling on a 770?

I think it's very difficult to see that, but...if you say that would be possible, then i believe you, who doesn't XD

Yeah, I kinda used a wrong term there. Where I said decently I mean: 1920 x 1080, most maximum settings except uber sampling, at around 30-40 fps. For me that would be perfect. But I also know some people can only play 60 fps and will not accept anything lower than that. It's a big difference actually.

Looks pretty (and actually attainable graphics wise, no smoke up our asses)
I hope they work on the UI a lot that was one of the worst things in tw2, the combat could use work too.

I recognise a few areas from witcher 1 in that trailer.

Anyone who is new to the series should just start with witcher 1, the story is great and the combat after getting used to it is serviceable enough.
The game looked like a painting in some areas/scenes it has such an amazingly good use of color.

He can't give you anything particularly specific; as he's not a CDPR employee he's no more informed on the subject than anybody else who's familiar with current GPUs. There only exists the reasonable assumption that a card that such as the 770, which can max out The Witcher 2 quite comfortably, should be able to perform well in the sequel with some mix-and-matching of settings.

770 will be able to run TW3 in 1080p with console graphics settings in 60 fps probably.
If you want to go higher it's quite likely that you'll need something more powerful.

I need to see some gameplay footage of the actual combat, hopefully we get some during E3. All that Skyrim talk near the beginning of development still has me worried.

And what about maxing it out and getting at least 30-35 fps? With a 770 that is. To me, it seems likable.

But does't your CPU also contribute a lot to your performance? I know GPU matters the most, but your CPU must come second in that regard, right?

This is the first video game trailer in forever that:

1. I've watched over 10x times
2. Lead to me immediately preordering a game

Now to wait 9 months... :/

I got promoted/pay rise at work recently so unless I'm fired/let go (it's possible) come the end of the year I'll probably do an entire AU$2000 overhaul, or do so when the parts I want become available. I don't need a monitor and I can reuse my case. Maybe even reuse the PSU depending on the 800 series and new CPU power requirements.

Fucking perfect. Cheers dude.

FYI -- The 8 core Haswell-E part is rumored to be the 5960x...Intel's Extreme Edition processor which runs at $1,000. The rest of the line is supposed to be 6 cores.

If my GTX 770 could play this with all the fancy things on and at 60 fps but giving up AA, I would be already happy enough and I would delay my GPU upgrade for harsher times.

It does, but not many games are CPU limited, especially if your CPU is reasonably recent (i.e. I'm expecting my i5 4670K to be more than competent enough for this game).

If my 7950 Boost and I5 3570k are able to run it on high, 1080p/60fps I'd been more than happy. But I think I'll have to play it on Medium settings.

I certainly hope that Skyrim inspiration is limited to the scope of world. I can't imagine anyone wanting to copy Skyrim's combat. What little they've said about it, they've taken some loose inspiration from Batman.

The 5930K is all but assured to have eight cores, assuming for the moment that Haswell-E does indeed mark Intel's foray into the eight-core desktop CPU space. The 4930K and 3930K both have six cores, just like their EE brothers.

Yeah, I have the same card. I think it'll run it fine, but I've been wanting to switch over to Nvidia anyway so this seems like a good excuse.

I'm aware of the Ivy-E platform. However this is the first time 8 cores will be brought to the market. Intel would definitely jump on this to bring some "prestige" back to the their Extreme Edition line. As I said it's a rumor, but it wouldn't shock me.

This is an aside, but since the subject was brought up: what do you guys think of those cheap EE chips that pop up after release through ebay and other resellers? Sometimes journalists get parts sent to them for review, and they end up reselling once the review period is over. I got a couple of old Core 2 Duo extremes that way for like $150 apiece back in the day. Both worked fine.

I'd hazard a guess and say the rumour is based on Intel's first six-core CPUs being the 990X and 980X, but that was four years ago and Intel's been better about its enthusiast bracket since. Anywho, time will tell. I'll definitely be disappointed if Intel does that route. I'd like to move up to the enthusiast bracket myself, in part for the additional PCI-E lanes (I plan on keeping one of my 670s for PhysX purposes), but only if I can get an eight-core CPU for ~$600.

I think it's almost certain at this point that the 5930 won't have 8 cores. I was hoping for a mid-tier 8 core chip for a long time as well, but I guess 6 will still last for half a decade or so.

I think it's very difficult to see that, but...if you say that would be possible, then i believe you, who doesn't XD
As JaseC says, it's impossible to know specifics about settings -- probably even CDPR don't know that exactly yet.

But I'm 100% convinced that the game will run "decently" on a 770. In fact, I'm certain it will run decently on a 770 at higher-than-console settings.

Assuming it does, I suppose there'll be something of a silver lining in that developers have access to only six cores in the PS4 and X1, so even though eight cores for the 5930K would be ideal, especially considering the price and the fact it's 2014, six isn't the end of the world as it slots in nicely with what most developers will be aiming at.

It doesn't really matter in comparison to consoles even if developers were able to access all 8. Each Haswell-E core is 4+ times as fast as each of those Jaguars.

Damm. Nearly everyone talking about the game im this thread are PC players. I know the series started on PC but I still really hope that the game will be a huge success on PS4 and X1. Come on console gamers, what upcoming game looks better than this ? Get on the Witcher 3 hype train, there is space for everyone !

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the problem is that they haven't shown console footage yet, so what you're looking at is PC footage. Can't claim it looks better than any other game on consoles yet until we've gotten footage of what it looks like on PS4/X1

Yeah, I'm aware that AMD hasn't been competitive with Intel's higher-end offerings since Core2Duo. Thinking back to that makes me feel old, actually -- it's been almost a decade. But AMD's CPUs do keep up with the Joneses in consistently heavy multi-threaded scenarios (although games are obviously less consistent in their CPU usage than, say, something like archive decompression).

True, and this has been mainly a PC franchise. Even though Witcher 2 is on 360 the bulk of copies sold are on PC. I think The Witcher franchise is ready for an explosion with part three. I can see the game doing very well on all platforms as The Witcher franchise seems to get more publicity every concurring month.

Have they said how much of your Witcher 2 choices carry over?

No details, just a trailer and the collector edition were shown.

I would guess they'll try to do something similar to Bioware with The Keep, where you input a load of details into an app or website and create your save online which, I guess, you'd be able to download to your platform of choice.

Just a guess.
