As long as the cameos are small I'm okay with it. The blooper on the wall is fine, for example.
Some people were asking for larger cameos, like Mario showing up with his FLUDD in the post-game results screen. I really don't want anything like that, and would really prefer he stay as far away from this as possible.

Totally not. He was born with that fur pattern to fulfill his (her?) destiny. To one day be the one and only referrer the Splatoon competitions.
I'm honestly surprised at the reception this game received; I barely heard about COD, or even the new assassin greed but I keep on hearing about Splatoon. Splatoon, Splatoon. It even has a huge fan base after a week.
Lets hope this translates into sales too.

I doubt it's going to be multiplayer only. Rather it's going to have a single-player campaign or single player missions or what not I don't know, but there is certainly time for them to put one in if they haven't done it yet. I believe somewhere on this thread and on the other Splatoon thread someone posted a tiblet of what nintendo plans on the game having or something like that.

Reggie's comments were that a good campaign should be included with shooter games (he was critical about shooting games that were multiplayer only).That gives me confidence that they'll come up with a fun campaign for this game!

It's apparently not turf wars but an actual sport in the game world. The ink is even bio-degradable and fades after a while. So nothing post-apocalyptic going on. This might also hint at what the single player campaign will be all about. Maybe something about forming a squad and rising the ranks, no real antagonist or anything. Unless there's an evil team or sponsor or whatever, or maybe the sport is technically illegal.
