So... Is this game seeming like a good value? It looks excellent obviously, but is there any word on how many levels/worlds or game length? I'm getting it either way but am just curious.

I don't think we know yet, but for $15 value is already a good proposition IMO. Maybe a reviewer can provide a hint regarding this, though.

Going to have to hold off on Valiant Hearts this week, because getting this is a more pressing matter and I have limited funds, lol. Game looks so awesome.

I got a Wii U code coming but trying to switch to 3DS. I think the only difference is StreetPass on 3DS and leaving messages on the Wii U.

For now yes, although I believe down the road the Wii U version will be getting a few free features added. Like a multiplayer mode.

3DS will receive all updates the PC and Wii U version get. Battle mode is the only exception.
3DS or Wii U, what's the consensus? I can't decide which one to pick up. Is 3DS still 60fps?
3DS version looks better IMO (there are 3DS screenshots on the shop page, don't pay attention to the trailer as that is just a poorly condensed version of the PC/WiiU trailer). And it is 60fps on 3DS regardless of the level of 3D.

Great now I'm at the point where the only thing I want to play is Shovel Knight and it doesn't come out until thursday.

I get the feeling I'm going to be end up double dipping with this game by getting both the 3DS and Wii U Versions. Likely going with the Wii U version first though.

Super excited for this game to be out.

Still trying to decide if I should go 3DS or WiiU...or just double dip and get it for both.

How long is the game ?

I saw a few completion times from reviewers on twitter that were between 6 1/2 hrs and 9 hrs.

They didn't 100% the game. There's New Game+ after that.

Keep in mind there's still Challenge Mode, Gender Swap Mode, the 3 different playable boss modes, and Battle mode to come in future free updates.

Actually I think for this type of game this is the perfect attention spawn. Nice ! Can't wait to see this in EU :'(

Releases tomorrow at noon EST time, or whatever time Nintendo updates the eshop. I'll be buying this. Saw it at last pax East. Looked fun.

More importantly: streams! According to the above link, they start at 7pm PST (10pm EST for the forsaken east coasters like myself), with the second game of the night starting at 9pm PST (12am EST) for tonight and tomorrow night.
This is in addition to the noisechannel radio cast on Thursday.

Secret PS game for tomorrow is indeed a PS1 game, so they aren't going to be playing Kingdom Hearts if that's what anyone was wondering.

how so? ridiculous boss hp?

Final boss is a good challenge but in no way overly difficult or grindy (or unfair). Basically if you can finish, say, Mega Man 2, you should be able to finish Shovel Knight.

Loved the game, BTW. Amazing music, too.

It felt like a grind to me (I'm not using that term as a negative) because of how I approach games. I'm stingy with my health so I tend to wait. For me, there was a lot of wait time in between opportune moments to attack in the final boss's pattern. Really enjoyed the game overall.

I have a WiiU code from my $15 tier but no WiiU to play it on. Anyone interested?

I thought I'd have a WiiU by now, but unfortunately I don't.

Positively cannot wait. Hnnng. So close. This looks like the best 8-bit game since MM9 and damn, it might even top it.

Are you looking to trade it or something? I have the Steam version coming but I wanted it on Wii U and was unable to change.

Yeah I'll trade my incoming Steam code for a Wii U one if anyone is interested as well.

My Mac runs windows games like shit now that I have everything hooked up to it via a Thunderbolt hub.

I'm going to have a 3DS code and I'm looking for a Wii U code, if anyone is interested. I didn't have a Wii U at the time of backing, but I just got one last week and I'd love to play this game on it. PM if interested.

sorry if this has been asked, but at what time does the 3DS E-shop update so I can download this? Midnight tonight, or some point tomorrow?

I think it's usually Thursday evening, like ~5:00pm Central Time for myself, That's when I noticed/check it every Thursday and it's up. Someone can probably give you a better answer. I don't think it'll get a midnight release though, so it's not retail.

Interesting. I just assumed it would be like the Wii U eShop where it updates between Noon and 1 PM EST.

Shovel Knight Unearthed for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS

Original Platform Adventure Game Delivers Timeless 2D Action, Retro Style and Platform-Specific Features

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On June 26, Yacht Club Games launches the hotly anticipated Shovel Knight for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, a sweeping classic platform adventure game with awesome game play, memorable characters and an 8-bit retro aesthetic.

You play as the eponymous Shovel Knight, a small knight with a huge quest. Shovel Knight has come to this land with two goals: to defeat the evil Enchantress and quest for his lost beloved. But between Shovel Knight and his beloved stands a cadre of villainous knights. These terrible foes, known as The Order of No Quarter, have been dispatched to prevent Shovel Knight from reaching the Enchantress, and will pursue their mission at any cost!

Packed to the brim with content, Shovel Knight boasts several unique features on Nintendo platforms. Shovel Knight will include exclusive Miiverse functionality on Wii U, and the Nintendo 3DS version will feature both stereoscopic 3D and an exclusive Battle Arena mode using StreetPass.

“With Shovel Knight, Yacht Club Games is leading a new indie charge in the Nintendo eShop, strengthening an already great lineup of content,” said Steve Singer, Nintendo of America’s vice president of Licensing.

Since its announcement in 2013, Shovel Knight’s polished game play and beautiful presentation have made it a worldwide phenomenon, garnering effusive praise from players and critics alike:
• IGN - “Shovel Knight’s charm stands out far beyond its aesthetics – the music is incredible, it controls like a dream, and it manages to be challenging while never being unfair.”
• Alexa Ray Corriea, Polygon - “...playing the game, I felt not only nostalgia, but I felt at home.”
• Kyle MacGregor, Destructoid - “Playing Shovel Knight makes me grin like an idiot.”
• Kevin Cassidy, GoNintendo - “Shovel Knight is the real deal. Yacht Club Games has made something really special with this game. Ridiculously good!”
• M.H. Williams, US Gamer - “I will say, this is the most ‘Nintendo’ game I've ever played.”

Shovel Knight launches June 26 as a digital download in the Nintendo eShop on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Remember that Wii U and Nintendo 3DS feature parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access.
