This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

The AC in port is to the right and it is symmetrical. What exactly is your problem with it? If it is the wrong size you should return the unit to the store and ask for a replacement.

Well one side of the ac cable is kinda square so it doesn't fit. What doesn't make sense is my gf (it's hers) was JUST playing it before bringing it over. Did she maybe grab the wrong cable? I doubt it because that's the only system she owns.

Also lol obviously meant ps3. Sorry, it's late

For anyone who's played the PSP GTA Stories games, if the pop-in reduced when playing a download version? I just wondered, because it would be streaming from a memory card instead of a UMD.

I've played some gamers that improved because of this. For instance, Street Fighter Alpha 3 has nearly no loading times on the Vita.

I have Xbox One copies of NBA 2K14 and FIFA 14, but not the console yet. If I get a console next month, how much time will I have to get the online achievements before the servers shut off? And how many online achievements does NBA 2K14 have? I think it's only one, but the Xbox Achievements list isn't clear.

Does the Dreamcast require its own special keyboard or does any USB or some other kind work?

It doesn't have USB or other keyboard ports. It has a proprietary keyboard and mouse that plug into the controller ports. But there are converters available that let you plug a USB keyboard into the controller ports.

I think they leave them on for about 2 years after the game releases. So the servers should be on for 1 more year for both games.

Ot happened with mass effect 2 and now it is happening with kingdom hearts 1.5

My PS3 suddenly shows a blank screen, but I can still pause {with proper visuals} and hear music.

What is going on here?

On the Wii U, is there something I need to actually do to turn "on" off-screen play?

I've been playing NSMBU, and when the mood strikes me, I just turn the TV off and go into the office or the bedroom and keep playing...

Am I doing it right?

Edit: Thanks, Stu.

Some games have an actual option, for example, WWHD you press the minus button, but no, when it's just mirrored, just turn the TV off.

I got the Stereo Headset Adapter for the Xbox One controller. Would I be able to plug in my Sennheiser HD 380 Pro into the adapter to have the audio feed go to my headphones? I wouldn't use it as a headset as it has no microphone, but I'd like the audio to be fed through the headphones.

Thanks.

Likely a stupid question for most, so forgive me for being an amateur, but will a 2500k/GTX 580 (1,5GB) combination still play most games today on high settings with stable (30+ fps) frame-rate? And how will it affect performance if I buy a (two year old) system secondhand? I found one for a pretty decent price and my budget won't allow me to build a monster rig from scratch.

Depends on the resolution you're aiming for.

An OC'ed 2500k @ 4.5 GHz and a GTX 580 should be able to pull off 1080p30+ in most games made in the past 5 years or so at High. Sandy Bridge is still a very, very powerful microarchitecture for its age and the GTX 580 is no slouch. (GTX 580 = GTX 760, performance wise)

The (relatively) low VRAM of 1.5 GB will be the limiter for Ultra Textures and SSAA solutions though, games like Watch Dogs and Titanfall are already demanding 3+ GB VRAM for maximum quality textures, and the figures will only grow in the future.

Just bought a 2nd hand slim as my 40GB fatty keeps getting YLOD and refusing to start. Just about to run the system transfer tool and wondering if there's anything I should know/do first? Will all my saves transfer across OK? Rock Band DLC? All my personal music/videos/photos?

The Sony site seems to indicate that the only things that don't transfer are media bought through their stores like music and films?

Can someone repost a gif that was used in the first Twitch Plays Pokemon thread? It's the one where they use a scene of Elsa from Frozen letting go of the Pokemon that Twitch users accidentally released.

Here's a still if it helps:

I own Wolfenstein on my PS4 and don't plan on selling it. But if I deleted the install data (disc data?) off my PS4 to make room for other games, does that delete the stupid 5GB Day One patch as well or no?

I assume my save files are safe from deletion and probably stored elsewhere but might as well ask that stupid question as well!

I was hoping someone can explain how to properly use the PS4 share feature. I had some game footage that I wanted to save and from what I understand the game is supposed to record your last 15 minutes of gameplay. I must be doing something wrong because when I go in the share menu and press save I get a 15 minute clip of my current screen on loop.

So is there a way to save internet settings with the PS4? I don't want to keep entering passwords whenever I go to a different house.

What's the common consensus of the best place to pre-order Destiny for PS4? ie the best pre-order goodies or in game items.

I was thinking maybe I'll pre-order on PS4 so I can pre-load.

Pre-load is only online through the PSN Store.

EDIT: Or stores that sell codes for redemption on PSN store. Gamestop, Amazon and Besbuy(?) AFAIK.

The Amazon store page for Destiny says the codes for pre-order will be sent out on the date of release. This makes it sound like there is no preload, since the codes would have to be sent out before 9/9. I ended up getting a PSN card off Amazon, then preordering on PSN.

I've been thinking of buying Trails in the Sky, but I'm not sure if I should buy the PSP (or PSN) version or the version coming out on steam. Which one would be the better version to buy?

I enjoyed the PSP version and the game well suited for a portable device. It's 40-50 hours long with simple graphics and turn-based controls.

My Dualshock 3 controller has a piece missing and my analogue stick is probably going to break soon, only thing is a new DS3 here is still the same price as a DS4 (in fact I've seen DS4s going for cheaper). Did Sony fix the issue with the rubber covers on the analogue sticks and should I go for a DS4 even though I won't have a PS4 for another half a year at least, or am I best to just wait it out?

I'm looking for a video which had some really cool VFX/Special effects and featured a lot of different videogame series but i just remember the combine soldiers from Half life 2.

I know this is not much but i have no other clues. I think it was live-action, but i'm not sure.

I remember back a couple of months ago people were arguing whether the Xbone or PS4 had a better audio solution. Particularly with SHAPE in the Xbone and True Audio in PS4.
Does anyone know whether one console has an advantage over the other when it comes to audio?

I have an Xbox 360 for the first time, is it normal for a Slim/whatever to be very hot under load (not burn your hand hot, but hotter than exhaust from my i7 4770k gaming PC)? It's significantly hotter than my PS3 slim or PS4's exhaust, but that might be because I can physically touch a very wide contact area where the fans are. It doesn't power off or anything but WTF? I'm playing ports of old arcade bullet hells mostly so it seems especially weird.

Really stupid question here. Can any replacement stylus be OK to use on the Wii U?

Wii U is restive touch, anything designed for that will work fine. Basically anything not too sharp, but not soft like capacitive styluses. It works by physical pressure, so basically anything that won't destroy or slip off the gamepad screen works.

Is it necessary to watch Hard Boiled before you play Stranglehold? I'm chipping away at my backlog this week, and the game is just sitting there, taunting me. I do have the movie, but seeing as this is my vacation week, I'd rather spend it working on my backlog and save a movie for a real work week.

Not to follow along with the story but well it's Hard Boiled the videogame so story plays second fiddle to the gunplay

Couldn't find a thread for it, didn't want to start one for this:

I see South Park Stick of Truth (PS3) on Amazon $30. Is it worth that price? Sounds like a good price, but want to know if I should really get it now or wait for a lower price. Thanks!

Just got into Borderlands 2 and there is a lot of dlc and was wondering what is worth getting single player content wise and if I should wait until I finish the main campaign before adding the dlc.

There is more than enough content in the game without buying any of the DLC. The two new classes could be worth picking up if you think they sound more interesting than the standard ones.

The map DLC isn't very consistent; the Hammerlock and Pirate DLC are kinda meh, not awful, but not as good as the General Knoxx DLC in BL1. Tiny Tina and Mr Tourge's DLC are great.

DLC is very much something to do after the main quest, though it's scaled to your level.

absolutely finish the main game before starting any dlc, don't even go to those areas if you choose to download them first. dlc is filled with main story spoilers
