If the pool is shallow (few teams, few players) then you can be more lazy. Pick the stars and leave it. If someone gets injured put them on IR and replace them.
Deeper pools require more strategy because a hidden gem can really benefit your team.

I lost my league's championship last year because I benched Bryzagalov for one game and he had a shutout. And then the other guy's shitty goalie had a shutout. Which tied us. And the tie-breaker favored him. And I'm still upset.
