Smash is a 4 player 2D party fighting game, Tekken is a 1 on 1 3D fighter. Smash has its fan base and nobody is going to not buy it because Pokken will be coming out at some point next year. Pokemon and Tekken have their fan bases and nobody is going to not buy it because of a completely different game that came 4-8 months before it.

Because this was a real announced game, and that footage was "something we might see in the future". The only thing we have is trademarks for Pokken Fighters and Pokken Tournament to go on, while the Pikachu thing had a whole video conference surrounding it. That's where we got the creepachu face from.

I hope it's Pokken or a Stadium game for Wii U myself but will be okay if Detective Pikachu comes first. Pikachu games are still fun!!!

We already know the pokemon company is beginning to dabble in the ios/android market, but what if they are about to announce a full blown big budget project exclusively on mobile devices. Is that in the realm of possibility or has that been ruled out?

Even though The Pokémon Company runs semi-independently, that doesn't mean they can suddenly decide to throw their games on iOS. The franchise is still owned by Nintendo and they would never allow it.

Not all announcements are worldwide initially. Only happens when in a Direct really, but most spin-offs even to this day, are Japan first in announcing.

Not really. The game was never officially announced. We saw very early parts of it on a TV show, along with Battle Trozei, where it was also said that not all ideas actually make it to be games.

I personally think it's too early for Detective Pikachu. In the show, they said it was aiming towards a summer 2015 release, which is over a year from now which is far too long an incubation period for a spin-off game from official reveal to launch and has only been in development for a year. Conversely, the Pokkén Japanese trademark was October 2012. But hey, anything's possible.

But you're judging before anything is shown. For all you know, it could be the greatest Pokémon spin-off of all time.

Pikachu is also the mascot of the franchise, so will be forefront in promotion etc.
