Tales of Xillia 2 |OT| Return of the Bazongas

I thought the final dungeon was pretty easy. The path is actually pretty linear once you analyze the map (or at least it looked so to me) and it's not like the game has random encounter, just pop a Holy Bottle if you are annoyed.

That said, dungeon design hasn't been good since Symphonia 1. Grace was OK but was too linear at times. And then there are Innocence "dungeons"... Haven't played Vesperia.

There are 7 possible paths for the final dungeon, and the game randomly picks one every time you zone in.

Don't you always have to fight them again? I definitely have 2 kills on some of the sub-bosses. It might be something not-so-obvious like the first boss respawning when you select a different person's gate in the first room.

Also I did Gaius last for what its worth. He whooped my ass early on so I came back with 3 Confusion Immunities and lv140+.

The final dungeon has randomized paths every time you enter it. I got through it no problem the first time I went in there but I went back out to do the bonus mission. When I came back it took me almost an hour to find the correct path. Worst dungeon ever.

yup, it's random. so you might get lucky and get an easy route, or find the right path just after 10 minutes or not get lucky and waste more than one hour there.

even with holy bottles the path is pretty narrow so it's not easy to avoid the monsters.

Bwahahaha...

With Tales it's kind of hard to figure out who's to blame for dungeon design as the credits usually refer to the graphic designs, not the layout. For Hearts and Xillia 1/2 though there was one person credited for Map Planning/Map Game Design. That guy, Yuuta Hase, is already credited as one of the (so far two) directors for Zestiria.
oh well. :(

Finished the game clocked in about 40 hours and picked the true ending.

Honestly, I think the normal ending was the "best" outcome but whatever.

I enjoyed the plot of Xilla 2 and felt the combat was very well done. It just felt like a slog sometimes to run through reused areas again and again. I stopped questing about 2/3 of the way through because it was just too boring to care about.

Regardless, Xilla 2 is one of the more enjoyable tales games to play thanks to the gameplay and characters but it doesn't dethrone my favorite tales, Vesperia.

Overall, Vesperia>Xilla1/2>Symphonia>Graces

(Haven't played Abyss, probably never will.)

And that's enough of that.

finally finished, I guess I'll write about the story in the spoiler thread. eh, overall not as great as I expected (dem importers hype) but better than probably any other tales of.

post-game,
- how do I unlock the quest to kill the optional boss
Pluto
?
- I assume I need to win at poker a lot in order to get enough potions to get max friendship with everyone but that seems pretty fucking slow. (with every character episode I didn't even get 4-5 hearts on everyone) any better way? If I need to grind chips, is there an easy way to get gold dices?

Aska's voice rubbed me the wrong way, which is weird because I tolerated Makoto for the duration of Enchanted Arms.

Just made it to chapter 14, what's the requirements for the three main endings?
I wanna say all R1 in 15, the then all L1/R1 after the final boss?

pick the choice thats basicly no to killing julius each time for bad ending
destroy all dimensions for good ending
die in Elles place
for true ending

Finished chapter 10. I'm really liking the story, i now can agree that it's better than the original Xillia. However,
having to pay part of the debt to progress through the story chapters
is bullshit. Also, after seeing the end of this chapter, i can guess what's gonna happen in the so-mentioned Chapter 12
:'(

dude those are spoilers. and that's not quite correct.

normal ending -
pick "save Elle" and not "I wish to destroy all the dimensions" and keep picking it until Elle makes the wish.

true ending -
pick "I wish to destroy all the dimensions" (you can do this even if you pick "save Elle" first) and then pick "I'll save Elle".

Just beat it too and agree with you. Took me around 55 hours(I idle a decent amount though), but I liked this more than Xillia 1 while Vesperia is still the top. I straight up disliked Graces and it's hard to gauge Symphonia since it got me into the series.

yea ya wrong i chose first destroy then it cant be helped
dont know what guide your using but it must be outdated

Huh, I didn't choose those things in that order to get each ending. I actually made the opposite initial choice for each.

You can still swap paths further on depending on your choices. The simplest answer to how to get each ending is
all R1 for True and all L1 for normal.

Whew. Just finished advancing all of the character chapters after finishing Chapter 14. Time to stop for the night. Level 72 so far, and everyone is starting to hit all of their skill unlocks. A few characters only have two elements they can still advance in. I still have plenty of side content to tackle before hitting up the final dungeon, but what's a good level to be for the final battle?

You're already higher than I was when I beat it.

I don't know, that's how I got them so I assumed they were the right ones. that's also how it is explained in the only "complete" walkthorugh I've found.

I think that you can still pick the choice for normal or true ending after the first 1-2 choices, regardless of what those are.

How long are chapters 14 and 15? So far I've really liked the game but right now I'm just not feeling it for some reason, not enjoying my time with it. So I'm thinking if I should just power through the final two chapters as fast as I can or hide the game and replay it from the beginning later this year when it's dark and depressing and very wintery

e: it's probably the amount of recycled and repeated stuff that burned me out now that i think about it

I've just finished that chapter and I have the feeling
chef Milla is going to die and Elle could be a fucking waymarker, which could make me throw my controller at the screen.
It be an awesome plot twist though.

Chapter 10 has some really interesting stuffgoing on there, to be honest. Kanbalar fractured dimension was a good chapter too but Kijara's not so much.

I miss puzzles in dungeons.

I was thinking about getting the platinum for this game, since I got it for the first one. But right now I am so sick of all the damn grinding. Ugh.
We 'll see if I take on the challange in the future.

the tag elite last 2 bosses destroyed me. probably being around level 80 isn't high enough for that. I guess I also need better gear but those fucking materials take forever to grind in the EX dungeon.

Just beat this game and it's definitely my favourite Tales game out of the ones I've played so far. It was weird seeing some genuinely great characters in this game, not used to those in this series.

Ending was a bit too sudden and meh though.
Even if I like these types of darker endings

Heh.

"You did 1350 linked art chains in the first game? Congrats! Now do another 1350!"

Same. Party Elite wasn't too bad but I couldn't finish it on tagged yet.

I went into the EX dungeon with just Milla and was surprisingly able to handle the enemies/the first boss I fought, but I want more people before I do much more. I thought gold dice were supposed to rain from the sky here but I haven't seen any drop.

edit/ I actually won tag elite with Ludger and Elize. easy mode, +25% everything food, auto-items and abused transformation and OVL in the last fight. it wasn't actually really hard, you just need to take one enemy out with OVL/mystic artes and transformation, when the other one is alone it's much easier. don't finish the whole thing under 6 minutes or you'll get another fight after that, which is ... much harder.
Ludger was 97 and Elize 85.

but meh, it takes forever to create the unsealed weapons. :,| grinding materials in the EX dungeon is already long by itself since they don't drop shit even with monocles, but then you need all those other materials and weapons. some of them require blue sephiras or hunter's monocles. lol, fuck that.

-

how do you finish the EX dungeon anyway? I understand how it works but I don't know how many bosses there are for a single door, also do I have to pick the same door all the time in order to finish that section?

and I was wondering if there's a faster way to get 10 hearts with everyone besides using the potions? 10 potions = 2 hearts = 200k poker chips, with this it's a pretty fucking long poker grinding.

Are you using cat weapons for item drops too and Leia skills?

180k+ chips is a matter of spamming gold dices for flushes and doubling till you double all in a row. Averages out to once per 2-3 dice (more if you savescum) and you'll be rolling in gold dices just doing the secret dungeon.

I can't bring Leia in the dungeon. cat weapons have some awful stats so I didn't bother. I might need some more levels before being able to kill enemies easily with those weapons, do they make a big difference and do they stack if I use 4 of them?

I haven't got one yet from that dungeon, just silver dices. I still have 2 or I can craft them but the problem is winning everything in a row, took me like 40 mins to win 200k, I was using the same gold dice and realoading everytime.
if there is no faster way I'm not sure if I'll get those 10 hearts on everyone.
