Which games have performed better on the X1 so far?

The Ps4 is the more powerful console. A developer must be very imcompetent if their multiplatform game ends up running worse on the Ps4...

So to you the PS4 is moar powaful and so has to run betta, right?

It has to do with the game, like this one, it is more cpu hungry, so it makes sense it will run better on X1.

Microsoft pressuring Ubisoft to "gimp" a version they are not in any way related to.
I don't believe in silly conspiracy theories.

There is only one culprit here : Ubisoft.
The deal with Microsoft could convince ubisoft to lead xbone how platform then port on ps4. I actually believe it's happened something like that. Honestly I don't think 10% of more cpu could handle any kinda of advantages in the whole performance.

lol

Also lol at XOne performing better than PS4.

More like the Xbox One version performing less poorly then the PS4 version.

Not really surprising given that the Xbox One's cpu is slightly faster. Split across multiple cores, it could make the difference in a A.I CPU intensive game.

You don't need to be empathetic towards me.
I don't understand how performance isn't their first priority.

It should be:

FPS = Locked 30fps or 60fps.
Resolution = 1080p(ps4)
Anti aliasing
Texture quality/No pop in!
Anisotropic Filter
Etc..

Then add huge crowds and huge levels, etc as long as it doesn't effect all the previously mentioned performance factors.

so you bought a game before there were any reviews out, without knowing how it performs, and now it's unacceptable? Perhaps if you didn't put money down in advance the publishers would've been less inclined to release a game that performs terribly.

You are right. I will not make that mistake again, especially with a Ubisoft game.

Hmmm. Do these games have anything in common that could explain this?

Follow the money!

It's so obvious but for some reason people don't want to see it. They honestly believe that those who question it think MS go to the dev and say 'here's some money. Gimp the PS4 version'. It serves the argument better when framed that way. What really happens is MS go to devs and say 'Make sure our version is best'. Then the devs spend most of their time optimizing the XB1 version which leads to problems with the PS4 version. It puts the blame squarely on the shoulders of the devs and it's deliberate.

I'm sure someone said that Microsoft have gone back on two CPU reservations, maybe that explains it.

So this game would've run better on the Ps3 as well?

This is insane.

If it honestly was CPU bound, then they should have just upped the PS4 resolution which shouldn't have really impacted the framerate.

It's quite clear that this game needed much longer than a 2-week delay, but Ubisoft pushed it out as late as they could to still maximize holiday sales. What a shit show. It's like Ubi is actively trying to piss off as many consumers as they can with some of the decisions they've made.

They obviously put little effort into the PS4 version with such horrendous performance and the XB1 version is nearly as abominable.

You really start to wonder why they didn't scale back the ridiculous amount of NPCs in this game with all the performance issues it has.

Yeah but the point is that if the cpu limits framerate why the ps4 version is not running at 1080p since the gpu is more powerfull ?

For fuck sakes ubisoft, did you really need 5000 NPC's on the screen instead of 1000 or something? It's obvious these consoles with low clock speed CPUs can't handle it.

I bet if they even halved the NPC's they could get both games to 1080p30.

What an Unoptimized mess (which they're known for). At least the XB1 version isnt way worse then the PS4.

So in respect of the parity issue. It's agreed that the PS4 has the better GPU and that the Xbone has the better CPU.

Resolution parity was made certain by making both versions 900p.

So, given that the PS4 may have a more limited CPU, why wasn't the AI, number of NPC's on screen etc. limited in order that the parity with fps was attained?

Odd, that.

They could, but then the cutscenes performance would suffer, it already has drops on PS4, in 1080p it would run like Xbone or maybe even worse.

I rather found it interesting that the load on the GPUs barely exceeded 70%. The Evil Within runs my GPU hot and is almost always pegged at 100% while running at 60fps.
Thats actually correct. He locked fps on 60fps and because his 60fps is stable that means that GPUs run slower than it could be if framerate would be unlocked.

Looks like the game runs like shit for both consoles, but It's alittle crazy to me that they left the version that will likely earn them more sales in the situation it's in.

I'm curious to sew how this game gets patched considering they were able to fix some issues in ACIV but it looks like I'll be skipping AC this year.

So the Xbox ONE version has the most parity? im shocked.
It seems Ubi truly got all the pounds out of the new consoles.

It's not such a shock if you believe Ubisoft's claim that it's CPU limited. And given the nature of the game that doesn't seem so far-fetched.

May I link you to my previous posting. There is no known CPU advantage at all, all I see here is a game optimized for only one plattform (time constraints?).

It's so beautiful. All those individually crafted models. The vivid detail. This is next-gen.

Wait!! There is a flag on the PS4 version. That is easily a 4 fps difference.

Also, someone quick. Count every individual character model. let's make sure there is numbers parity as well. I can't have three less frivolous models in my game.
Lol, are you suggesting they secretly put more npc's on the PS4 version for more parity?

Pretty sad, considering Black Flag was pretty decent and stable after the 1080p patch.

No sale here. I hope this title bombs hard.

Also, why do they have to make the crowds so over crowded? Some of these over crowded shots over the last day do not look believable at all.

Considering they had a lot of unused GPU power on the PS4, they could have off loaded a lot of CPU tasks to the GPU to stabilize the frame rate.

I dunno anything about programming or the feasibility of what you're saying in the context of this game but considering how the game runs like shit and is littered with bugs they probably just ran out of time.

For the tinfoil hatters, I'm going to start keeping track of the games MS has a marketing deal with that perform better on XBO than PS4. If there's a pattern it should emerge.

I doubt there's anything to it, but it's a simple thing to check. Enough ducks in a row, coincidence stops being a likely answer. But I can't imagine there's anything here.

The reason is probably pretty simple. Being a CPU-bound unoptimized mess of a game, Ubisoft did the easy thing by not leveraging any of the PS4's extra GPGPU Compute headroom and relying solely on the CPU, especially given that they didn't utilize those extra GPU resources for upping the resolution.

This gives the X1 a minor performance advantage, since their CPU is clocked 150 mhz faster than the PS4's, everything else pretty much being equal.

There are some things you just can't do on the GPU.

10 people can't read a book faster than 1 person.

But there are a lot of things you can do, like animation, collision detection and physics. All these tie to their 10K people crowds which would have put a lot less strain on the CPU when in large crowds. From what were seeing it looks like they did all that on the CPU and left the GPU to only draw stuff (which still doesn't explain the lower res than).
