Oks. finally got around to get this. Are there any improvements we can do? does GeDoSaTo work with this? i'll start going back this thread and see.

Screengrabs so you see how it looks so far. Kinda pixelated.

I wish there was a high res texture pack too.

Super sampling. But 4x SGSSAA already make my fps drop to 40-50 (GTX770). But not much to be done because of prerendered backgrounds. No texture mods yet I think.

Also, would it be wise to pick one item chest in the mansion and just use that rather than scattering items all over the place?

In my experience, yes it's better to pick one and stick to it.

Means you know where every item you have will be, and allows you to plan routes through the mansion to get your stuff.

I picked the East Wing one under the stairs, due to its proximity to the courtyard and ease of access via the main hall > outdoors > painting room route.

Right. I'll try that.

Shame about the prerendered backgrounds. Wish they were higher res... they look spotty. But overall the game still looks pretty good.

Whew. So over the last 5 days I have completed this 3 times. My initial play through was on easy with Jill, took 13 hours with the good ending. Next play through was 4:05 on normal and bad ending. Watched a speedrun at work and was able to complete my next run through in 2:47. So I have the unlimited RPG now.

Started the week confused and frustrated with the open design, but now I think I've left this as one of my new favorite games. Such a well designed set of situations.

Now I have to play through with Chris, and do the next two modes. What a game. So much replay value

How many fucking shotguns shots does Yawn need to die? I emptied about 20 rounds on it and it's still alive lol. I'm playing on normal with Chris.

I forget. Does aiming up actually increase the likelihood of exploding a zombie's head, or is it just completely random?

I think it does. I watch a guy on Twitch who does speedruns (he currently has the WR for Chris Any%) and i think he said it does. At least, he said it works with the shotgun. I don't know if he claimed it was true with other guns.

So uhhhh... I just f'ed myself up on Hard Mode with Chris. I'm at the part right before the
1st Tyrant encounter
and I only have 1 bullet in my handgun, one in my self-defense gun (don't ask how I spent my other weapons ammo -____-) and my trusty survival knife. I also have 1 first aid spray as well as a mixed G+B herb. Gaf, w..t...F am I going to do????

*edit*

This is me currently in fight -____________-

*re-edit* nvm that was easy, I just had to get behind him and knife him to death lol.

wait...
FIRST tyrant fight? am I missing something? I beat the game as Jill and only had to fight (and kill) the Tyrant one time, in the same room that he breaks out of his container in... where is this second fight?

You left
Barry
to die you horrible friend you.

I did a 2 hour 11 minute Real Survivor Mode no save run as Jill. Most intense REmake experience I've ever had. Unlocked the Rocket Launcher and unlocked the "Ink is for Squids" achievement in one go. :D I didn't notice until this run that RS Mode lets you see what's in each item box when you go to the map. Brilliant.

And he saved you, don't become an Jill sandwich ^^

he actually didn't save me lol. I
was smart enough to not take the shotgun and left it there until I came back with the broken shotgun later.
So I never got the jill sandwich line :/

Ugh, those stupid boulders.
Accidentally flicked the right sick and did a 180 on the second boulder. I think my last save is at the residence. Boo hiss.

my problem with this game is i can never remember what i was doing when i played it last so i boot it up and just run around aimlessly until i get frustrated.

Continuing from here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=150685439&postcount=5290

I'm making progress a bit more easily now. I'm more or less used to the controls by now, and I can avoid zombies somewhat regularly. In fact, I had enough supplies that I tried advance in the Residence without saving, but I was too greedy, and I lost about 15 minutes of progress.

Now that I'm past the mansion, I've come around to how great the level design is, albeit with a few caveats. The one-way doors, various locks/keys, and carefully placed items strike a good balance between deliberately hindering progress and rewarding exploration.

Even so, I'm still not a fan of the trial-and-error design when it comes to hauling around quest items. The most egregious example thus far has been the
piano room with the golden/wooden emblem - I came in with the sheet music, but I had no idea I would be locked in a room because I didn't bring the wooden emblem
, which was literally the very first item I picked up when starting the game. There haven't been too many of these moments, but there have been enough to try my patience. To be honest, the entirety of the game is based on this framework, so I can't complain too much.

Another minor complaint is that I don't like dealing with birds and bees - I'm probably missing something, but I find them obnoxious and feel like they don't present a manageable but still dangerous threat like zombies do. The button mashing to escape them is annoying as well.

And I mentioned this earlier, but the worst part of this game is the white flash that comes when you load a game or die. I'm trying to play in the dark and I feel the light searing my retina every time it happens.

Invisible mode has been a bit of a pain due to my ink hoarding habit. No matter, I'll save as ofter as needed from now on.
Does Barry only save you from the Shotgun room on Easy?

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
Question: ps4 edition is psn only and 30 fps?
I'd rather buy it on steam at that point...
Correct. The Steam version is the only one with 60 FPS and Variable FPS options.

Hunters are some bullshit. I can have near full health with Chris on normal and get one shotted.

That happens on every difficulty. I think the only way you can make the scene not trigger if you go there late in the game.

I finally started a Real Survivor Jill playthrough, that won't end well.
I'm already scratching my head and trying to figure out what item I'll need where and when. My biggest early game worry right now is managing the death masks. I guess I'll do it in one go and mess that doorknob.

I'm not great at dodging zombies and the only ammo I've used so far was for the dog whistle, so that's challenging too (I'm out of healing items).

I guess the easiest path for Jill would be the following, right?
- Do the Jill sandwich
- Go back to get the acid rounds from Barry
- Save Richard and have Yawn kill him to get the assault shotgun. Meaning the regular shotgun is free rounds up to that point
- Get the wind crest to get Jill's magnum
- Synthesize V-Jolt
- Keep Barry's magnum
- Don't save Chris

Yeah, I'm trying to plan ahead.

I could be mistaken, but I think if you have seen can of fizz, it's too late for a sandwich.

What's the best difficulty for the Every Nook and Cranny trophy? I'm guessing it's Normal or Hard since there are less items right? I imagine Very Easy would be a pain because of the overabundance of healing items. Maybe it doesn't matter since I'm gonna be using the rocket launcher anyway.

This is my first time playing through REmake, and despite avoiding zombies whenever possible I still find myself completely out of ammo for both my pistol and shotgun. What's a guy to do? I don't want to have to reload an old save and lose all this progress, but I'm starting to get the feeling that I'm screwed going forward.

I've got the ps3 physical copy of this game but I can't bring myself to open it. Gonna wait for a steam sale I think.

Finally bought this on PS4. Game looks amazeballs.

Going to probably import the PS3 version just to have a physical disk like I did with Strider.

Why is this game so good? Started playing after Dying light and I was gonna wait on a sale but come on, it's ReRemake.

The graphics still look spectacular and the atmosphere and puzzles are still highly love able.

Yum.

How far are you into the mansion? If you have the areas around the main save room clear of zombies, then you should be okay. Do you know to point upwards with the shotgun to aim for their heads?

Maybe you missed some ammo along the way. There's some in the beginning hallway on the right hidden under tables that you have to push. There's some shotgun shells lying on the floor of the room where you get your first key. The room is dark and I passed over it a few times before I noticed it.

Look at your map and make sure the rooms where you think you got everything are not colored red. The colors tell you if you found everything in a room.

If a room has too many zombies and you don't have to go back to it, you can go around it, don't kill or try to go through those zombies. I've played the game 3 times and for me, I left the hall on the left side with 3 zombies alone every time. (the one that's right before the trap with the key on the block)

I built a new PC on Wednesday, and despite all the awesome PC gaming I planned to do, I keep coming back to this damn game. I think I'm really close to beating it with Chris, but then I can totally see myself wanting to immediately jump back in for another run.

Finally completed my first run last night, this game is a fucking masterpiece. I played a few hours of the GameCube version back in the day and never played RE1. It took me about 9 hours with Jill on easy (don't laugh), some of the puzzles took me a while but damn they were rewarding. Lots of backtracking but I know that damn mansion inside and out like the back of my hand. I'm going through all the mainline re games now so since I've only played 4-5 (2 of my favorite games ever) so I'm on to re2 next on my vita and I picked up re3 on the ps sale.
