Which comics have you been reading? Pete has always been pretty darn handsome.

I always thought he was relatively handsome, held back by his crippling lack of social confidence and... glasses. Even in the Maguire films where he's lumpy nerd incarnate.

The funny thing is, if Peter gets similar time in MCU to RDJ thus far (7-8 years), then they move to Miles after that, the kid who will eventually play Miles (assuming they bring in a very young actor) is probably only 8-10 years old right now.

They have been telling the same story onscreen for decades. Because reboots. Also...you don't have to change the character to tell a different story. Just tell a different story. Spidey has plenty of work to pull from.

A younger Spider-Man works better with this story IMO. Having a teen Parker paired with an older Tony Stark is too perfect to pass up. Also, Tony talking a teenager into revealing his secret has all sorts of consequences.

This character that Tobey represents in the Romita films is barely a part of the character anymore. It's literally Raimi remembering the earliest part of Spider-Man. The important part of early Spider-Man is letting the character change with the era.

He was intentionally unhandsome in the original Steve Ditko comics (not ugly either). John Romita was the one that started drawing him to look handsome and turned the comic into Archie.

I figured the MCU Spiderman would be a bit older and more experienced, however, but I guess how there's suddenly a new superhero coming out of NY that nobody's ever heard of means that he'll be a little bit younger. Not surprised that they're casting him now though as he's going to be in Civil War (which is starting preproduction/filming soon) and they need to figure a way to wedge him in there.

Ehh, going to disagree there. I like the plots Miles has been involved in and his supporting cast has been top notch. It's Miles himself who is the problem, he's either written as a blank slate reacting to everything or as Peter Parker.
