Ori and The Blind Forest | Review Thread

Well a 89 is pretty hard to beat.

I do expect Bloodborne to be in the high 80s but no one knows if it will reach 89 or even 90+

Hopefully this goes up to 90+ with a couple more reviews.

I'm going to pick up this and Bloodborne. Showed my girlfriend the Ori trailer and she loved it. She can play through this while I play Bloodborne... we can all be happy :)

I fully expect some salt to show up here eventually (did it already?). Can't use imgur at work or I'd break out a pic of the street crew salt trucks from our lovely winters of late.

A lot of times the reviewers and gamers disagree, at least to an extent. But so far I haven't spoken with a single person that has played it early (sometimes via questionable methods, which peeves me a bit) that didn't love it. Just over 12 more hours...

Why would there be salt?

Looks fantastic, and despite it being a very generic metroidvania title, it seems to hit all the right notes.

Great reviews, and the game looks incredible, but the references to high difficulty are putting me off a bit - I don't seem to be nearly as good at games lately as I used to be. I wouldn't want to buy this and end up getting frustrated with it after an hour or two and then not bothering with it.

Happy to see this game review well, congrats moon! Also happy that anyone with a pc or Xbox can play the game. Good guy Microsoft.

It just comes with the territory. I've seen a couple posts already that seemed to downplay for no justifiable reason. Threads like this for exclusive games on either side of the fence eventually pull in console war nonsense, which inevitably includes salt. Just surprised it's been mostly positive so far, and thankful for it.

I believe that it unlocks at 5 PM PST tonight

Yep, 5pm pacific.

I've seen the name of this game floating around for months now but I had no idea this was a gorgeous looking Metroidvania game. Excited to check this out later today.

I see a lot of similarities to the Trine games in terms of graphical style but the gameplay looks to be pretty different. I'm still on the fence about this. In a lot of the footage I've seen timing plays a really important part in progressing in the levels. Wish there was a demo on steam.

That's simply because it's indie and available on the PC as well. Otherwise this thread would have gone to shit already.

awww gosh darrnit! Just checked Steam no Mac version woe is me '-(

Hmmm...Looks like I'm going to have to wait for the first drop on Surface 3 then. That's the only Windows platform I'm going to be having at home now. Anyone know if Surface 3 is powerful enough to run this?

it's a smaller scale game and available on PC. The salt mostly comes with AAA console exclusives. Though I am salty now I thought I would be able to play this sooner than I will actually be able too '-) looks incredible! and this type of moody art direction is more up my alley than something like Guacemelee or Axiom Verge.

Great reviews across the board are awesome, congrats Moon Studios! I was going to be picking it up regardless for my X1, and it seems like it's getting the recognition it deserves for being a challenging, beautiful platformer. Looking forward to trying it out soon :)

Wondering how well my system will run this. On the docket to buy this month, just need to finish up some other games first.

Buying this so hard. I kept checking the Xbox Marketplace over the weekend to see if they've added a pre-buy/pre-load option.

Douchebag. Yes, me.
I'm torn on what to buy this on.

I have a decent PC. I'd like to get the PC version, but if it's extremely optimized for the Bone, I'd rather go with that SKU.

game sounds fantastic. even if it turned out average it would be worth it for the visuals alone, but GOTY worthy gameplay as well? challenging? metroidvania with no loading and repeating art assets? ohhhh my

Thomas said it probably wouldn't run at native res with the integrated graphics, but it should run it.
