March Wrasslin' |OT| Forecast for Wrestlemania...cloudy with a heavy chance of Reigns

Aiii

So not worth it
Wow exaggerate much? Who knew posting on GAF while watching mania was the equivalent of that?

No fun can be had.

NeoGAF certainly enhances the WrestleMania experience.

Last year was pretty great, but I think the most fun was the Mania thread during the Mr. T HoF acceptance speech. So much fun.

That ending to Raw basically described the build up to Mania in a nutshell, award and doesn't make sense.

#TimeToShoot

My Mania OP would he less snarky if the build ups for a lot of the matches were any better. You also kind of need a bit of snark in order to describe the IC Title match and the Roman/Brock match because it's kind of part of the storyline.

A reminder and an offering - I have a jiff I want to share that is an Ass Biz related jiff.

I am tagging it NSFW and making it a link.

Hmm, ending to RAW made no sense to me. Why not just have Bork F5 Roman, Bork stands tall, and then those who want to see Roman win on Sunday get ready to see him kick some butt? With that tug of war thing, Roman doesn't look like the big banana but the second, insignificant banana. His booking has been retched. Poor guy.

At the least let them shout tough-guy shit to each other where the only mics picking up the banter are the mics around the ring.

Though there, I guess the concern is having to slam the live censor button too often.

Man I was there in person during that Mr. T deal. Shit was unreal.

"Wow, this is really happening."

Saifsart is getting better, honestly. This is approaching "pretty good" territory.

Dragon Kid's kinda insane, dude's been doing this crazy shit for the better part of two decades, remained relatively injury free and hasn't lost a step of pace.

But you're not one of the people stamping feet and saying "UNTIL VINCE DIES WE HAVE TO LIVE WITH THIS SHIT" etc

There's having fun and laughing at how bad things can be, but there's some people that just...
KUO1757.gif

Whatever the case they'll be here Sunday skimming the thread because they can't live without knowing what happened/is happening. And that's a fact. Hooked for life.

The Cena/Rusev feud has been great last 3 weeks. Makes me wonder why the match hasn't been turned into a submission match. It may be a top2, or 3 match of the nigh.

I know, I want to be all exaggerated and shit but people end up taking me seriously because I always forget there are actually people like that. Luckily, they're usually hidden to me posting during THE MONDAY NIGHT RAW

See, now this is content worth $9.99. Goddamn.

If they want it to be billed as two big guys colliding and keep it simple, just have two segments. One of Brock F5ing Reigns after a warm up match he wins, or if Brock will only do one segment, Reigns knocked out backstage possibly even an ambulance. Then have Reigns interrupt the promo at the end, superman punch doesn't floor Brock but sends him rolling out of the ring, Reigns holds the belt up in the air
to a chorus of boos
. Both guys are strong and there's some damn action.

Thank you sir, as a working person I appreciate this.

I sent it to my phone to look at later ¬_¬

A gif from a Nelly video, BET Uncut at 3am style is several steps beyond "ass biz" Kaitlyn pics and shirtless male cameltoe Finn Balor. Thread TV-PG v. MA? Wtf is even happening.

I think Vince is taking his gimmick too seriously.

I love when Hogan goes over to Japan. Even as WWF champion. Even with his ego, you know Hogan reverts back to Matsuda's student who doesn't want to embarrass sensei.

Funny thing about this match, the crowd is very quiet for over half of it. Yatsu doesn't perform a clean break and the crowd suddenly loses it and they're buzzing loud for the last 3 minutes of the match.

Nuts to think now that Vince would let his title be defended in another promotion. A 'foreign' one at that.

Sad to know that Hogan was fully capable of that in the 1980s, and they needlessly simplified it for the WWF matches. It's not like it's overtly technical or anything, but it adds some interest beyond "punches and a scoop slam".

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't claim to "never stop watching RAW" because it's the only show of it's kind. When it sucks like this I'll just put in on background while I do other stuff and I won't give them money. That away I also get to comment on it because I like commenting on stuff.

L.A. Gaf. I don't know if it's too late but Rome was to appear on ch 5 news this morning to probably talk about Mania. I heard them talking about it earlier but didn't say when

I always put it as Hogan having the kinds of matches he did frequently because he and the company knew his character was the main thing that was over and not his matches. And because of this Hogan tried to work quicker, slower matches that didn't result in as much big bumps because he knew he'd be constantly working shows and wanted to preserve his body as long as he could so he wouldn't end up crippled. As opposed to in Japan when they worked less dates, so he could work a more active match and that the match was generally more important than the character(though I don't know about that being the case with Hogan. The look and the character was stupid over in Japan. I guess his better matches with Hansen and Andre before Hulkamania helped that out a lot too.)

I think that's also why his 2002 work was better because he figured he was done after that run. His worst work will always be as Hollywood. Even FUNB Hogan had a more versatile moveset than Hollywood.

It's also why I worry about John Cena's long term health so much.

Saying all that, Sting doesn't look all that bad. But when was the last time Sting worked full time?

I don't even think WCW was full time.

Hollywood's moveset is designed around him preening and looking like an asshat for half the match because someone finally forced him into a fair fight. It is absolutely his worst moveset but the matches are strangely compelling even today. Like the one where he fights Macho Man with the wig on. I could watch that twenty times and not get bored. Or him versus Ghostberg.

EDIT: Stang hasn't wrestled a full schedule in exactly 20 years. He was Taker before taker.

Yeah. I think he probbaly hasn't worked a full week since NWA days. That's why he can still have a fucking match.

I can't see Sina having a match at 54.

After seeing what happened with HBK/Goldust/Regal though I am all for people taking off prime years of their career to rest though. They all came back as good or better after taking time off to heal (and get clean)

So is there just a guy on the creative team who is just really selling Vince on the idea of stealing titles or what?
I think anyone who tries to take and/or hold up a title that they haven't even won yet is a total scumbag. I hate that. There are exceptions, but generally it's a pretty awful thing to do.

George Takano is super underrated, some of his stuff as The Cobra was well ahead of its time.

Incidentally, I watched Dynamite vs Fujinami match from 1980 the other day and was really surprised how well it held up, a lot better than the Dynamite vs Tiger matches do.

Once you get to a certain level you shouldn't have to do House Show unless it's a top ten city, maybe even a top 5 city.

Only RAW, sometimes SMACKDOWN, and even then...mostly just cut promos.

Full match PPV only.

Oh..and get paid.
