1979 but this would be the first evo where it would go over 2k for sf4.

i really think it's time for them to move to a convention centre as hotel ballrooms could barely accommodate this kind of figure anymore.

Move it to a convention center outside of Vegas- somewhere cheaper, but in a hub airport.

Kansas City or Houston/Dallas might be a good choice.

If Ultra breaks 2000 this year, I could see SFV breaking 2500, maybe even 3000 next year.

That doesn't even count other games.

agreed but the main reason to's use ballrooms is cause they cut a deal with the hotel for rooms.

Honestly this whole fight I still find awesome. I remember rewatching it a few years ago, and I was still on the edge of my seat lol

Damn lol, might have to rewatch it. Only other hype moment I still watch from time to time is goku turning SSJ3. Ever since Blackule's mentioned his ascended racist jokes with that, I'm always reminded of that when I see it.

For me the best game I played actually wasn't the one I was the most active in. Not even close. The best had to have been Skullgirls, but the one I played the most was honestly MVC3.

Melee. And it certainly is the best I've been involved with. I played Brawl on the side since tourneys had both.
I never owned a copy, but why not. Helps the community.

Which other games do you guys think will get 1000+?

I could easily see MKX getting over 1k. Maybe GG Xrd and UMvC3. KI's pot bonus and increased roster should help it get more entrants than last year. This EVO is shaping up to be the biggest ever, by far.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised since its a new game and all. Plus if NRS puts up the money for a pot bonus, people will come and try to get it. Is it only 3 games at EVO that have surpassed 1000?

Im gonna say CEO next month. $15K pot yo'!!

you forgot to add:

ULLLLLLL after your yo for more hype

you gotta mash two buttons. something like 3 taps in a second
For the last input, hit two buttons instead of one. So you piano HP, MP, LP, HP, MP+LP for ex hands I believe.
Thanks. How do people do that on a pad? Having issues with one of Chun-Li's trials where I have to cancel her standing Heavy kick into the EX legs.

Check out Dragon Ball Kai. It's just the important story and fight scenes without all the extra time wasting stuff.

Its really on Smash, Marvel 3 and SF4 that have gotten over 1K entrants at EVO. Marvel got 900 last year and is going to have even lower people this year unless there is heavy overlap from other folks (as in people come for a main game and then just enter Marvel just for the hell of it).

MK9 and anime games were never a huge draw at EVO and before last year it was really only Capcom games that got the big entrants. It's going to be hard for MKX and GGXrd to break 1K.

Thank god too. There literally was an episode where Vegeta just powered up and the whole world felt it. Wasn't even for an attack either. Too bad I like the old music for nostalgia, but still worth it.

Marvel barely broke 1000 last year according to here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Kappa/comments/29mjf3/corrected_but_still_estimated_payouts_for_evo_2014/

Yeah the Faulconer music was nice, but Kai is overall a much better viewing experience.

most people press HK+MK/LK (higher priority button comes out, in this case HK) and just mash HK+MK/LK and boom.

MK9's got NOTHING on MKX. Competitively speaking, MKX is more popular, more successful and more accepted by the wider fgc. Whatever MK9's highest entrant count was at EVO in years past will be doubled by MKx at this year's EVO.

My one complain with DB Kai, at least the Buu saga, is the music. I much prefer the original.

Yeah I genuinely doubt any other games are gonna break 1k except maybe Marvel if it's very lucky.

I think highest MK9 #s were 510 so it would in fact have to double its numbers to break 1K.

It's great how big it is. It's nice to see that MK is still going strong for the community and wasn't just a short interest thing for 9.
Also the fact that it's only on PS4, Xbox One, and PC so far, it's doing well.

Mortal Kombat X seems to be getting similar numbers to what Injustice got during its debut.
I dunno about 1,000 for Evo.

get Dan in the corner, jump in hk, stand hk and once you hit the close HK charge down while mashing out the kicks with all three buttons at once. Once the juggle comes out wait until you see Dan start to fall, then do EX bird

Fight me Vulva!

oh that one? thats easy. Just press a lower kick button with the HK with jump HK and stand HK and mash HK with a kick button after the stand HK comes out.

Oh, I did it. That pic under the gif has the star for that trial.

I was arguing with a guy about SFIV's newcomers popularity, just to predict who can make it into SFV base on that. I was saying that imo Juri, Viper and Abel are the ones that people like most (Not base in how good they are). But he said that Rufus it's popular than them, cuz many people has used him in tournaments and no one use Juri for example... Silly argument imo...

I also have showed him Eventhubs' poll (For SFV additions) and Capcom's last official poll (2013), where Juri is top 10 in both and Rufus near the bottom. But he denies to accept them cuz "Hakan can't be popular than Balrog"... Something that's not even relevant when we are speaking about a minimun vote difference.

So I need GAF help. How you'd rank the newcomers (Personal taste or popularity base). If I had to, I would say:

Juri
Decapre
Poison
Viper
Abel
Gouken
Oni
Seth
Hakan
Fuerte
Rufus

What about you?

-good characters

Juri
Abel
Rufus
Poison
Viper
Hakan
Oni
Gouken

- bad design but would be ok if char came back with all-new moves

Fuerte

- all-time crap character design, sub-Jar Jar Binks tier

Seth
Decapre

How many of y'all getting the PS4 version tomorrow? My PS3 stick doesn't work properly but I still want to download it :/

I am fo sho, even tough I won't play it until later this week.

I sold my PS4 padhacked stick to my brother so I'm leaving it here and I ordered a Kai off arcadeshock last night. I'll be without a stick at home until I get my new Kai.

agreed but the main reason to's use ballrooms is cause they cut a deal with the hotel for rooms.

A fair amount of convention centers do (or at least they should) have working relationships with nearby hotels in the area. Often neighboring hotels will offer their own discounts if the event is large enough.

Not to say EVO is large enough that hotels in any hypothetical region will automatically offer deals for lodging, but it doesn't necessarily have to the be the kind of problem that limits venue choice solely to hotels with ballroom space.

To be fair, I ranked my list giving more importance in character design that moveset/playstyle and always from a general perception point of view.

My personal list:

Juri
Abel
Poison
Oni
Viper
Hakan
Decapre
Gouken
El Fuerte
Seth
Rufus

I really hope Juri makes it into SFV.

I spent way too much time playing Melty Blood (mainly Act Cadenza and Actress Again) with a small but very dedicated group of players, first out on the east coast and then out west once I moved. Hell, a bunch of local players ended up living together for a span of about 4-5 years.

Best game? Pretty damn close. The PS2 version of MBAA was sooooooo close to being perfect, but they overcompensated with balance adjustments and system changes with the final version (MBCC) -- it's still a damn good game, regardless. That and it's literally impossible to find a copy of the PC port of MBCC to actually buy nowadays. Type-Moon plz. ;_;

I think the bigger factor is cost -- the cost per square foot goes way up when going to a convention center, and I think the event organizers have been trying to put this off as long as plausible... but I think they've hit the break point with regards to this. That and finding convention space that fits with scheduling is probably a non-trivial problem, either. It would probably be easier if they decided to move away from Vegas, but that brings its own problems as well.

Spotlight is up, min.us still being a bitch on my end. Why can't there be a good, all-around image host with folder capabilities :(

Good ones cost money.

Anything good to watch this weekend?

Also, when CEO?

All the stuff in the OP should be good to watch. CEO is June 26-28.

MKX is hot right now, but the game has only been around for a month +. I'm sure it'll have over 500+ at EVO, but I waiting to see how the game does after EVO because that's when most people drop off from a game.

As for EVO needing a bigger venue, people have been saying that for years. They're handling things the right way.

I kinda expect a dropoff post-EVO, and then a 2nd dropoff once SFV hits. Especially if NRS nickel-and-dimes some more. I know that's left a bad taste in the mouth of some folks, though I expect any damage from that is going to show up more on their next game, especially on PC (if they use HVS again, they might as well not bother with a PC version, ppl will shun it)
