Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R |OT| Ready to rock on STEAM (with netcode!)

Is there any way in hell that I will be able to assign up/down/left/right to 1p's arrow keys? Or have they just said "Ha ha fuck you?"

This is infuriating.

And I quote:

Let the Arc System Works community manager know on the Steam forums.

I'm assuming so they don't have key-bind conflicts between both players. But it should have a warning or something and or/reverse the key binds for one side to the other if that's the case. As it is this is Arc's first actual effort on the platform, so give them feedback via the Steam forums where their community manager will see it.

Did so, got resolution to the problem. Anger level subsiding. Now to dig up those old key configs from '05...

Why are you going to buy a fighting game you won't even play?

wish I could tell ya

Played like 20ish matches with my friend who is close by and it felt better than every match I played of ACR on XBL. It's not exactly great but it felt better at least.

And returning to this game after so long is hard. Xrd has made me so sloppy.

I can say without a doubt, that the online is unchanged from the PS3 version.

Pretty much, it's terrible.

I just played a bunch of matches with Tyrant Rave and we had no lag save for a super small hiccup in the second match. We're both pretty rusty and not doing anything too complex but I was able to FRC Dizzy's Ice Spike which is one of the tighter ones in the game, so all seemed well to me. For reference USF4 is usually pretty damn laggy between us.

No, it is changed. It feels worse judging by the two matches I played. One was three bars and the other was four bars. Both felt like 300 ping matches under the sea. I don't want to play online anymore.

This is harsh.

So, basically, like every game ever, there are conflicting reports on the netcode. Some say it's awful, some say it's perfect and lagless (here and on the Steam boards).

Not that that will keep me from buying this, but it's funny how you just have to see for yourself for a lot of games.

Netcode is perfect for me...

Optic fiber.

In europe.

I could my play my American friend with very little to no lag. Much better than what we had on xrd. Other people were fine too.

I feel like the game has delay by default even offline. But online didnt add any to that or very little.

Very solid.

STEAM NAME : Slaythe. If you want to fight me. Had no lag out of 13 fights.

I'll add you. Remember though, we have a Guilty GAF community Google doc to make matchmaking easier (click here to add yourselves) List of players is here, look on the bottom tab that says "+R (Steam) because this is shared with the existing Xrd list.

Pretty much. Netcode is always YMMV for the genre.

The net code is better that MKX and DOA5 on STEAM.

As for sales. The concurrent player base was surprising last night with almost 500 players when I looked at it. I thought it was impressive due to a late day release.

Picked it up, but after playing BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend on Steam for a bit, this is a little rougher on the looks/polish side.

Maybe it's a stupid question, but how do you even exit the game? I had to use alt-F4...

You can't. It's something they're "looking into" currently. Right now you have to use what you did: Alt-F4 or Alt-Tab and then manually close.

GG before Xrd has gotten the bare of the barebones treatment. This isn't like 3SOE, MvC:O, Darkstalkers Resurrection or even MvC2:HD. It is really bare despite +R being a newly balanced game. No lobbies, no GGPO or modern delay based netcode and no spectator functions.

Also, the sprites aren't HD quite as large as BB iirc. The overall art style, world and music more than makes up for that, though.

Played for about an hour with a 4 bar that lives a few hours from me. The lag ranged from about 15 frames at its absolute best to close to 60 frames at its worst.

I saw this and started reading the thread and thought this had no online play. Thankfully that's just the Vita version and not the Steam version.

How is the Steam version? I saw a glitch thread on Steam and got kinda put off.

I haven't gotten any noticible bugs/glitches. I think the port is servicable? The resolution can't be changed from 1280x720. I haven't really tried out the netcode much.

Steam sales charts are revenue based iirc. That means that for every copy of a $60 game a $15 one would have to sell at least 4 copies to match in revenue. That is the great thing about the charts. You know a cheap(er) title is raking in the moolah when they're topping the charts for a while.

Isn't that some serious ping? That seems like 300ms ping territory. I've had similar experiences with 3 and 4 bar connections. I'm absolutely itching to turn the game on, but that BSOD earlier scared me stiff.

Yeah, its mostly in terms of menus and options and such. Also, graphically it's a bit of an adjustment because in my head I remembered it looking more like BB CSE but comparing them directly it's like a generational leap, haha.

Ya, but honestly, I had the exact same experience with the PS3 version.

And just to compare, the same 4 bar dude(rookiejet) I was playing with on +R with 15 - 60 frame lag, I get constant 1-2 frame lag matches on Xrd.

Did they forget to add an "exit to windows" option or am I blind?

I've been testing Baiken quite a bit. Her Tatami pushes the opponent back instead of launching him/her into the air. It seems that I can't frc it into an air combo anymore.

My last GG was #R. Time to re-learn a lot of stuff :(

They changed Baiken a lot from AC. Her taitami mat now causes a wallbounce instead of launching normally. The FRC point still feels the same in ground and air to me. I think you can do taitami FRC and airdash into stuff but I haven't tested it much.

Her combos in this are pretty much all situational in this version. You can kinda substitute taitami with 623P (new in ACR) for combos midscreen but it's hard to get the party going on light characters AFAIK. In the corner you can do combos off taitami pretty easy with c.S or 2D after into an air combo.

One of the biggest changes is that she can cancel her command run into guard cancels now. So you can use her guard cancels offensively which is really cool. Seems like the P counter is what a lot of combos end with.

Thanks for the info. I'll put them into practice.

I should probably watch some a-cho matches if they are stll around. Damn, it's been so long...

To expand on what Tyrant Rave was saying about Baiken's +R tatami FRC combo, the most universal junction from tatami FRC is to follow with an instant-airdash "kire" tatami and combo off the wall bounce, but this is not easy at all.

The input would look something like: 236K 2369~FRC~6+K (or, alternatively, negative edge the K). It's one of the harder midscreen combo junctions in the game, IMO.

Online is very hit or miss. The lag in the select screen is persistent though.

I swear ASW changed arcade I-no on whatever version of +R the Steam port is running. As soon as you start a 3+ hit blockstring she goes into a METERLESS MEGALOMANIA. There's no way to get any damage on her whatsoever. This is beyond bullshit.

Whats in this version that isn't in the ancient dead ggpo version? I read no lobbies and I swear ggpo had lobbies. Anyone been playing west coast vs. east coast with online impressions?
