Street Fighter V Tournaments and Showcase featuring: Daigo, Justin Wong, & PogChamp,

Yeah I think I see what you mean. I'm probably wrong but the character on the right next to Cammy looks like it could possibly be Vega's color scheme, and the character next to Birdie could possibly be Q....only time will tell.
This would be a dream if it turns out to be the case. I could think of a V scheme for Q, but I'm drawing a blank as to what they could do with Vega that would make sense. Something to do with his Claw/Mask maybe, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

Hmm you do know what Kappa means right? :p I freaking love what they are doing with V they can keep all that other shit in IV. :x

Kappa is used so much its to the point that its played the F out. Tired of seeing it, wish more people would be original and stop doing the same dumb joke for the past 10 years.

Kappa (am i using it right? Cause I hope im not.)

GeoNeo

I disagree.

Like Xeno said It's just a way to denote sarcasm over the internet.

Maybe you should have read the previous pages and seen that we were making light of how people in twitch chat were over reacting to everything and that reply someone posted in the thread saying SFV was too much like SFxT and not a true Street Fighter.

Justin Wong was doing pretty well. Are you saying there were more bison wins vs birdie wins? Because it seemed like every time someone was Birdie they won.
Everyone ran Birdie at first because no one knew what to do against him and he was easy to pick up, then people figured out that you could just rush him down.

I just ignore those posters anyways. Most dont even understand what they are looking at.

Maybe I didn't actually see the entire tournament or something but I watched for like an hour or more and Birdie, almost regardless of player, always won. I'm still wondering what was meant by the post I replied to. Did they break it down into win percentage of characters?

Speaking of Birdie, Is this the first time in SF or even capcom history for a grappler to have a projectile? I can't think of another.

I dunno but between the can and the sub-zero ground freeze, Birdie looks like a monster right now.

Nope, there are grapplers in VS series that have had projectiles off the top of my head.

Also, I think what makes Birdie such a threat is not even his cmd throw since it's so slow. It's his godlike buttons and V.Skill into big damage.

Some of the hurt boxes on his buttons seem to not be finished at the moment. Also, I don't see Capcom taking away his damage. But, his V-Trigger time will def get changed.

Will be interesting to see what they do. Because, if they end up over nerfing him that would be really sad.

It's a physics glitch on the player 2 side.

The top two players had a good game plan against him and were just better players than everyone else. But yeah people generally struggled against Birdie. He seems strong but the game is almost a year away and people have only had two days to get used to things. I'm sure if he is overpowered, he will be adjusted accordingly before release.

It's the usual nerf grapplers to shit kind of thing Capcom goes about.

So what's the point of Ryu's Denjin? Does all he get is more stun? Seems a little excessive for a game where you can get someone to half a stun meter in one 3 hit combo.

I disagree.

Makes his FB game way better.

He can charge up the FB to guard break which you must dash forward confirm into combo. If you do Ex FB while in his V-Trigger you don't have to charge as long to guard break.

It's obvious things will change, but your original post made it seem like there was some complete turn-around. Birdie owned beginning to end. I think the final match was daigo getting destroyed by him.

LOL @ "it's a bug"...

It still happens on 1P side too. And why does it ONLY focus on her chest? Come on maaaaan.

Capcom clearly wanted dem titties to be jiggly as fuuu, then got a bad reaction to it, and so they are pulling it back.

The final match was Justin's Bison vs Xian's Nash. Birdie was not in Grand Finals.

I didn't notice it on 1p side. I also noticed Birdie's necklace piece was floating in a way it doesn't on 1p side.

The problem with launch event tournaments, early build tournaments...or things like cross assault, is that in order to win the prize with minimal practice, people will flock to the character that's the easiest to win with. It compounds when you see other people play the same character, since you can borrow tactics from each other.

Perhaps it ended up backfiring though, because it gave people some sort of familiarity to Birdie and Cammy but only Justin and Xian were playing their characters. Daigo was unique too, but it's Ryu. A vanillaish Ryu at that. Nothing scummy like HDR fake fireball.

Video Proof it was a bug:

Left side Cammy displays no jiggle. Yet right side Cammy boobs go ham.

Also, you can find footage of Birdies pendent going ham too.

With that all said.

Justin winning the first SF5 tourney with world class players is one for the books. I'm liking this focus on fundamentals rather than wombo-combos.

Its a little hard to imagine since what has been shown of the game is perfectly shippable, but remember that this game is far from finished. That means that if Chun Li's are flopping all over the place, it doesnt mean they wont get fixed. Its probably a bug or the person responsible forgot to rein that in.

Anyways I was a little annoyed at first at the lack of new characters, but after you watch for a while and get into the core changes, it perfectly explains why. Nash, Bison and Birdie are basically new characters at this point. They have allowed the story and/or passage of tme to alter them and become new people with new strenghts and weaknesses. I LOVE that Bison can no longer Psycho Crush whenever he wants and has to save it for his Super. I LOVE that Birie has an eating mechanic, and him being fat absolutely backs that up, further cemented by the fact that he hasnt been around the SF storyline for a long time. I LOVE that Nash is kind of similar but in a fucked up-something has happened to me kind of way, it makes the character more interesting visually, more interesting mechanically. Perfect blend of story, art and gameplay.

Gameplay wise, all the changes make for a far more offensive and distinct game. V Skills all seem to reward counters and instant offense. No KO chip damage forces you to take risks. The super bars filling up quickly encourage you to use them constantly and go for big damage often. The speed of the game itself seems faster and the moves are causing more damage,w hcih I love.

Last, the V skills will make the similar characters feel way more different, all the shotos will feel very different from each other now, which Im really looking forward to.

And of course, the game is fucking gorgeous, good shit, Capcom/Dimps.

Birdie seemed to give zoning characters some trouble. I saw low forwards from both Ryu and Chun that looked like they hit Birdie's foot but didn't actually register, then watched them get bopped by standing strong. I'm wondering if it's due to Birdie's hurtbox or if they don't want low forwards to be too strong so they made the range shorter than the extension of the character's foot.

Those short ass 30-50% combos are about as far from sfxt aa you can get. Game is high risk/reward as shit from the looks.

Not in gameplay, in visuals. Gameplay looks really solid actually, but the visuals and sounds and whatnot just look incredibly meh to me. Definitely prefer SF4 style even though SF4 has no style.
