Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

My Dual Squelcher and/or .96 Gal laughs at your Jr's puny range. :p

Seriously though, I could see a lot of scenarios where you could bring out one of those 5 weapons and basically rule the roost over teams of inexperienced teams that don't see it coming. Although they're less likely to be using Cold Blooded anyway. Against veterans, it would be a different story, of course. But I could see a decent Team Dog or Cat team just railroading a lesser team repeatedly using that tactic.

Every team is going to need at least one Echolocator user on their squad, just to be sure it doesn't potentially get out of hand. You'll probably have a lot of scenarios where both teams are regularly firing off echolocates. I don't know if it'll be a dramatic difference, but I would expect a slight bump in its usage.

I expect a lot of .96 Gals in particular this weekend, depending on the maps.

Ha, Touche.
But yeah, I'm surprised more people don't use echolocator already. It's fantastic for maps with two splat zones, because you can use it to find the safest route to the zone. I always try to get an echolocator up before I head to the splat zone at the start, too.

I'm probably gonna stick with Ninja Squid because I like the maroon hoodie. Depending on how bad it feels post nerf I may switch to that red chequered shirt. No idea what the primary ability of that was, but it looks great. The fact you can't switch primary abilities on gear is literally my only complaint with the game. That, and I think splat zones should score you at the end of the match based on how much ink you covered in the zone, and not your k/d ratio. It's disheartening when my team loses, and I'm last on the scoreboard because I was focusing on inking the splat zone rather than just trying to kill the opponents.

Ranked is going to give me a stroke.

I've been four times on B now and always dropped down to B-.

Maybe I'm not the best damn player out there but at least I'm getting to the action - but just now my team mates from one round to another just stood afar and tried to shoot the bad guys from there, instead of getting up close and personal, swimming and trying to get them stealthily. No, they just have to stand on the highest place on the fucking map so someone can pick them off with a charger.

God damn. Yeah, I'm getting a stroke too.

I think the main ability of the red checkered shirt is ink saver main

I have mistakenly assumed that the purpose of the Kraken was to hunt down and destroy my opponents, not amuse them. This will take me some time to adjust
I personally use it to either escape death I was just about to happen and take a few others around me, or swim up a wall painted in the other team's color to clear out a sniper perch(since I use the roller with it). Swimming at someone already firing at me is something I had stopped doing awhile ago.

Of course, with the nerf, one has to wonder it's place among the other specials...
I use Kraken as basically my one true means of dealing with nearby enemies around corners. As a Custom Jet Squelcher enemies tend to want to get close to me to fight me, and if I get the spacing right they can't escape from Kraken anyway.

Same here. Yesterday I was about ready to chuck the gamepad at a wall with the godawful teams I kept being given on ranked. 8 games in a row Port Mackerel with me on a team consisting entirely on point blank range weapons against Japanese gals, chargers, krakens and echolocators, then to rub salt in the wound a Blackbelly round with 2 other carbons and an inkbrush player that literally stood at the edge of our base swinging at the same spot that was already our colour without moving an inch for the entire game.

B ranked battles are the most one-sided garbage imaginable.

Just had a match where after going the extra mile to dispatch a sniper (who then apparently DQ'd), the other team squidkidded before DQing.

I am now B rank with 0 points.

NEVER. AGAIN.

Wait do you lose points if the other team disconnects?

How many A+ gaffers are there?

I fear that my bubbler techniques won't transfer over to tower control and I'll drop from the A+ rankings. I'm excited to play it though!

I don't think there will be different ranks for different modes, right now just looking at an Inkling will let you know what their rank is. They'd have to add in a second space for a rank to go there

Already almost upon OT3, when will that be going up so that I can update my subs?

Honestly considering I know people are going to jump on Tower Control like a motherfucker once it goes live I might just put it up later on today since I'll probably miss out on a lot of pages while sleeping.

Seeing a lot of old names popping back up in the thread. This slow drop off content seems to work to keep people coming back.

Do we have a name for next OT?

It was suggested a few times by some members, I wanted to go with Feel Good Ink.

Unless there is another super clever title that people might prefer, or perhaps something more topical. I was looking for a Tower pun of some sort but I couldn't come up with anything.

Cry Violet, for your inkbrush overlords has now come.

I almost did this prepatch. Different stage(Saltspray), but at the top of the map right after the ramp between the box and wall on the right side if you're facing north. That is exactly what my experience was, but with much less knockback.
Speaking of, that knockback is disgusting.

Was it you using the Kraken when I almost stalled it out or was it Vecks?

Edit: Try to avoid attacking until the last second as a Kraken. Knockback seems to happen only when you're in the air.

With the ink brush? It was me, yeah. Kraken ran out a second after you died.
Yup, Inkbrush. It would have been great if I actually stalled it out. That Twitter link was basically what I saw in my point of view when you released the Kraken, just with less knockback.

Yeah it would be a lot easier to do now. I wonder how many people are still going to cry about Kraken being OP.

Damn haven't seen you in this thread in a while, but yeah I'm in the same position as you A+ 99 points and I don't think I will be able to go with the splattershot jr anymore in tower control, I'm probably going to switch to the blaster. I think the bubbler will be fine for tower control, remember you can play off the tower if your teammate is on it and there will be people to kill off the tower as well, the bubbler will never not be useful.

Edit: Sendou I'm going to jump on in a few minutes

How do you normally play splat zones?

Most players make a beeline towards the splatzone, but I always take an alternative route to build up my bubbler and try to flank the other team during the first battle for the splatzone. Usually I'll encounter one opposing squid on the way there, and my hope is to out maneuver him/her (splatshoot jr. isnt built to go toe-to-toe with other skilled players sporting better offensive weapons) and achieving the splat without using my bubbler. But if I feel like I'm losing the upperhand, I will deploy my bubbler and hope to build it up again before I enter the splatzone.

If all goes to plan, I will come upon the other team from behind with my bubbler equipped, and I should be able to at least get a double splat and turn the tide in the favor of our team. At that point I quickly try and cover opposing teams paint in hope to have my bubbler again when the second push happens.

My goal from there is to limit the amount of splat shootouts I take apart of in without my bubbler deployed. Though if I do have to confront an opposing squid without the bubbler, the only favorable shot I personally have of achieving the splat is by out maneuvering, approaching with fellow teammates, or getting the high ground on my opponent. I also use my splatbombs as distractions and/or distancing so I can get around the opponent and come up from the ink on his/her side or back. Sometimes I land a kill with them, but that's mostly luck.

But again, my main priority is painting until my bubbler is ready. That's why I like to slide out with two of my gears main slots sporting special charge up (increases special-gauge fill rate) and special duration up (increases usage time of special weapons). My last main slot is ninja jump, for obvious reasons.

Hope that helps!

Edit: I'm typing from my phone so sorry for any of the above typos, but is your roller not transferring over to splat zones RED? I see plenty of A+ rollers that I don't feel are as good as you are.

Personally I don't imagine the most of the Kraken complainers are going to be stalling out Krakens via knock back now, so it likely won't make much difference to them.

I just had my first chance to try since the patch... Man, some Kraken users are going to have a ride awakening... It was so easy to stall it with a Splattershot Jr.

Yeah, putting it up right before tower control starts would be a good time for a new OT.

The game is great, but man the network is unreliable for me (and I don't think it's the connexion, I've had more errors and decos in 48h than in months of Mario Kart 8, and I've a lot of lag in several games)

Sadly My last two weeks were mostly occupied with studying for the NCLEX (a government test for nursing), but now I'm done and can focus back on Splatoon! I need to get back into the GAF rooms, I miss competitive turf war!

That's true though, I imagine to the bubbler will be a great offensive support weapon for tower control (like you said), I just have my doubts for gaining the tower back with the splatshoot jr., especially in A+ rooms. I'll test it out tonight, but I refuse to change to the blaster. The bunnyhop players have soured that weapon for me. :p

Playing VS Red is way different than playing against other rollers in my experience. I played against him in port last night and was scared to go in the middle section.

Wonder if I can do it with my Squelcher. Think the fire rate is probably too low.

I have to admit, that's a significant contributing factor to the fact that I haven't played blaster yet.
