sorry, no money for PSN infrastructure this year. our PS+ subs were spent on getting CoD maps a month early instead.
I actually own and love both systems, but I am going to call a spade a spade. So far for me PSN has been inconsistent at best on PS4 and it is getting worse. It is what it is.
Why wouldn't it let you sign in if it was just a Store refresh then?
Exactly. I have both too, and I prefer the Xbox, but that doesn't mean these downtimes don't affect me.

I didn't say it wasn't inconsistent, I said it's possible to dowload files faster. It's been a bit slower than usual for me during the recent weeks, like I've mentioned before on this thread. Up until that it's been giving me consistent speeds on the PS4 though.
As for paying for the service (which is the PS+ games in my case), the PS4 download speeds double the 30-40Mbps the PS3 gave me.

Yes, it's all just an agenda. PSN has not any problems at all as of late.
All the things you are saying isn't the same for everyone. It sucks it happens for some and should be changed.
The refunds and preorders refunds seem to not affect everyone. It's strange because myself and others I know have gotten refunds but we seem to have threads that people are not getting them. It's almost like it's dependent on each rep.

I don't know, I can't speak for anyone else. I just know that it has not been performing like a service that I want to continue paying for. But I still love my PS4 very much.
You might be on to something, they've got some poor backend systems if they need to go offline to update the store though...

My goodness, such an overreaction. How long was the PSN out anyway? Some of you guys pretend that XBL is always up, you will miss out playing online and all the free plus games just because of some downtime? This is bonkers...
I had a much better experience back on PS3. So far on PS4 it has been absolutely terrible. I will not be renewing PS+. Just having Xbox Live will suit me fine whenever I want to play multiplayer.
Btw, what games do you play online that you need PSN to be up every beating second?

I can see that, and slightly agree. Now I don't game as much online anymore like I used to, so that is barely why I pay for the service. The games and other discounts weigh more to me now due to my gaming habits, but that is not to say that I know they need to step it up, and I am sure they are taking those steps.
They have a console network that is still not that mature to them, in combination of PS2 like dominance their console is having. So I can slightly understand the hiccups that will go along with it. But only slightly if it doesn't improve more in the next 6 months. They know this I am sure.

I see some people complaining about PS+ money being used for exclusive shit, and I know that's how it worked for COD in the past on XBL, but I dunno if it's working here like that. I mean...it probably is, but sheesh, if PSN isn't stable this holiday, that is going to be a major blow to Sony considering all that's coming out.

Flawless in the UK and my PS4 download speeds clocks in faster than my laptop and pc. Sure it's not a perfect network and due to the nature of gaming in it's current state, it needs to be perfect. But there are some in this thread going out of their way to make it seem worse than it is or universally bad.

Out of 11 million+ PSN subscribers, this thread would be insanely bigger on GAF if those with no issues were the minority.
Nobody is arguing against improvement, but it is not the majority of users like some would want you to believe. Hell, I see threads pop up with PSN was down, people piled on "free shot posts like they were experiencing it too" in the thread, and it was the OP who forgot to update to the new firmware. Legit happened last week.

I feel for people that do experience issues, but they need to also realize that their experience isn't the grand all experience. I've had maybe one PSN outage since Xmas so it shocks me when folks complain about how unreliable the service is.

Honestly, am I the only person who has far more TV service (HBO Go, Prime, Netflix) outages on PSN than on any other platform?

I don't seem to have many outages on PSN but download speeds are trash tier compared to steam and xbl, at least here in Australia.

So is there anything I can do to increase the download speeds on PS3 at all? Not getting fiber speeds is one thing, but having a 142 meg download of Mega Man 10 completely stop repeatedly is unacceptable. I have preordered Sengoku BASARA 4 Sumeragi on the Japanese store, and was wondering if there's any way I can bypass the inevitable sub-optimal download speeds.

Most summer work days it's extremely difficult to log to Destiny, DS2 or Driveclub (online) between 15:00 and 18:00. If after many atempts you somehow manage to get in be ready to cope with drops from parties and games, and 'can't speak with XXXXX due to "NAT"'' issues between random people who invariably :1 have a perfectly normal 'NAT 2' connection just like everyone else, 2 haven't made any changes to their network configuration and 3 for whom everything else simply works.

I doubt it, no angry threads get made for Xbox live. It is very unfortunate though that so many xboners across the world tried to get into psn during this 20 minutes of downtime.
I don't really notice a difference, tbh.

What's really hilarious to me is that the servers worked better before they started charging to play online. I guess they weren't expecting how quickly the PS4 userbase would explode.
