minions is a beast tbh, that's still a really good number for this movie.
This might be as good a place as any to ask, but whose movie reviews do y'all read? I look at the RT numbers, but I'm never sure which reviews to actually read.
This doesn't totally helpI write my own reviews.

Ant-Man projected to make $115-125 million globally, but will finish second to Minions this weekend.
Another reason to hate those little yellow buggers.

I have a few reviewers I rely on for games, but since Ebert's death I've never been sure where to turn for movies.
Fair enough, I'll give it a read!I'll PM you a link when it is published on Friday. Personal service!
I'm not against the idea of reading Gaffers reviews, it's just harder to keep track of than having a dedicated critic that I can stick in my RSS reader.you could eye the Movies thread, there's a good chunk of competent moviegoers you can trust. Myself, in particular
kidding aside, read The Guardian's. They're actually very good at reviewing movies, and games too
I just saw Minions today. Terrible Movie.
Those numbers look close, will be interesting to see the box office results this weekend. If Minions is as bad as reviews make it out to be, could be looking at a slightly bigger drop.
However, I'm hoping it holds, will make the box office thread more entertaining.
Did your niece like it though? My brother in law took my niece to see it on Sunday, and he texted me while I was re-caulking my tub. He said it was one of the worst movies he had ever seen. When I told him I was recaulking my tub, he told me I had gotten the better deal.
Did your niece like it though?
I wouldn't underestimate the appeal of the Minions. They've basically become pop culture icons in the last few years. Though I do agree that it will be close, mainly because we all know about how big the MCU is. Still, I did my part with my IMAX 3D tickets.no way minions is beating a marvel movie opening weekend
it'll be really close, but I think ant man will take it.
This. Remember, Big Hero 6 did beat Interstellar on opening weekend. While granted, it had some of the Marvel hype under its sail, Disney opted to downplay the Marvel aspect for whatever reason until the home stretch (they only mentioned the Marvel connection in ads attached to comic book shows or movies).Never fucking underestimate kids movies. In fact, that's why marvel films do so well, they get some of that slightly older kid audience. I think that had a slight hand in Jurassic World too.
Minions really is that bad, and ant man is super good, should blast it out of the water.

Gonna see it tonight, can't wait.
Just came back from a screening tonight, and wow. The theater wasn't full like the GotG screening I went to last year, but it was a good number and the entire audience loved it.
The Michaels rock. Michael Douglas is great and yes, you only afterwards have to remind yourself that they had to digitally rejuvenate Douglas' face for the opening sequence, it's that good. The best de-aging ever done in a movie.
And Michael Peña is hilarious. Not 100% of the jokes land in the movie, but that still leaves a ton of laughs in the theater.
The ants rock, and they play a MUCH larger part that I expected or what the trailers showed. The "heist movie" aspect is indeed good, and not just "for a Marvel movie good."
Yes, theAnt-Man team (Hope, Hank and Scott) infiltrate the new Avengers facility in upstate New York and run into Falcon, who is able to detect Ant-Man thanks to his new high-tech visor. Great fight ensues, although it does feel like that sequence was placed there in order to comply with the MCU continuity.
And the flashback about what happens to The Wasp is heartbreaking but cool in that, it really makes you want to see a prequel with Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne's adventures. They seemed to be kicking ass back in their days as SHIELD's top superheroes and quasi-Avengers.
Overall on the favorite MCU movie scale:
GoTG
CA: TWS
Avengers/Ant-Man
Iron Man
AoU
Iron-Man 2
Cap 1
Thor 1
Iron Man 3
Hulk
Thor 2
Ignore the order of the bottom 6 or 7, pretty much they're all the same to me.
Would be nice to see where people who have seen it rank it among the other MCU flicks.
A friend of mine is mad about minions because they're retconning some of the lore
does Ant-man have the ability to get really big too, or can he only shrink?
His character can grow, I doubt they do that in the movie though.
