Demolitions should honestly grant way more points. I've wrecked goalies leading to easy goals countless times and got nada from doing so.

Not just no, but hell no.

This game would be awful if it rewarded bad players for playing demolition derby instead of the game, and good players wouldn't change play with it.

I for one am super glad that demolitions don't give points.

I would like to see saves and ball clearing get more points. Gives more incentive for players to stay back and be goalie. A save should be more points than goals are.

Sorry I had to drop out, brother swung by unannounced.

Was getting so unfun lag in the last handful of games. The kind where the ball and players are all going in one direction, and then a second later everything is in a different position. Dunno if there just aren't enough ranked games to match people up in similar regions (that last game we won all three dudes were red numbers in the 200's).

I hate the Aerial Goal trophy...

Every match is full of people trying for aerials when they don't need to! Worst thing ever haha

PS: I couldn't figure out where this thread went for the life of me....

lol if you enjoy doing it from time to time it's who you are. don't try to fool yourself. mildly or not you're a real person spewing that shit at other real people when you could simply not do it.

I don't "spew shit" because I only reference plays on the field. Like "mad skillz... Not." Maybe were taking about two different things.

Anyone on steam that wants to play? preferably people that understand the concept of teamwork? These random games are absolutely terrible.

I try for aerials not because of the trophy, but because I want to get good at aerials. And I'm starting to hit more than I used to!

That said, I only tend to go for them if I feel like I have a better chance getting it with an aerial than on the ground.

man, my buddies play this on PS4. I've been playing through steam since release, and trying to get into it on PS with them is honestly infuriating. The frame rate on Storm is horrible and I'm so used to my 970 making the game absolutely pop with a locked 60 frames.

it's like a totally different game. gotta train myself to get past this framerate nonsense. didn't realize how much of a spoiled gamer I've become since exclusively using my PC the past three years.

nah 1on1 is weak..
its too slow for my taste and too much of "dolanesque" goals..

also, first post in community..

I should try 1v1 again. The only time I did it I was really drunk and was losing 13-1 before I quit. Was a laughquit rather than a ragequit!

Do what you feel like but I myself just never even think about typing something like that. When a player makes a big and obvious mistake he/she's either feeling ashamed already, apologizing to his/her teammates, or he/she just doesn't care. Any sarcastic comment from me wouldn't accomplish anything other than possibly adding a more hostile than needed atmosphere to a relatively difficult game that everyone's trying to get better at and in which spectacular success and huge failure often are just inches/milliseconds apart.
And whether such comments are intented as mean or not doesn't matter since I can't know how others take it. The possible frustration of other people just isn't worth the LOLz. Poking fun at myself and trying to be as friendly and encouraging as possible to others seems more fruitful to me.

fully agree and even more, if your making fun out of your mates mistakes, you will discourage them even more and chances are even higher that you will loose. Rather encourage them by saying no problem.
If you insult the enemy with a "what a save" when he obviously made a mistake you on the other hand encourage them to be better and beat you. Regardless when and who you insult with this, the looser is you.

Exactly. I could give a crap about a trophy. I want to get better. Training is okay for getting mechanics down but you need to attempt aerials during games because you don't know exactly when the ball will pop up / trajectory vs training where it is much more structured.

And unless you are playing against top flight competition missing aerials should not cost your team much. If you are a competent player that gets back on D you should be able to recover from a miss in time, especially when at least one your teammates will be waiting for the ball to drop. If they miss it too then they are more to blame in my book as you should not be missing balls at double jump or less levels.

Like everything else it's about picking your spots. Aerials are all about getting to the ball first (as most people wait for it to drop). If you can get to it before the other team without needing to aerial then there is no need to aerial as it's the lower percentage play.

I've been using the in-game muting option more lately. I'll let some sarcastic/teasing quick chat comments slide for a while, but if people keep them up I just mute them. I've even had to mute my own teammates when they kept making fun of our opponents.

A dev here said they're considering making team-only chat the default. I have played with some classy opponents who commend good plays regardless of the team, but they're outnumbered by the chat spammers who think they're funny. Really, the majority don't say anything to the opposing team, so changing the default to team-only wouldn't be much different. It would also help in praising my teammates without feeling like I'm rubbing it in the other team's face.

As an alternative, it would be cool to have a team chat modifier. You could assign a button (maybe as an option to replace the R1 push to talk) so when you hold it down and choose quick chat commands, they come out as [TEAM] only regardless of the text.

I should also point out I only do it when they start it. I will respond, albeit without swearing and name calling. Thing is, I don't take it as seriously as others maybe. I feel no shame for missing an easy save. If there is back and forth chatting on the field, it should be all in good fun.

That last game, holy shit. Constant chat spamming and trash talking. I had this urge to just sit down with all the other players in the room and have a meeting face to face to see if they really could be as awful or if it's something that could be fixed.

So much anger in some folks it's really sad.

If you're on PS4 and someone crosses the line you can report them right from the OS. Since 2008 I haven't had to report anyone but after being called faggot, bitch etc a couple times too many I've reported 3 in RL :/

holy shit, played a 2on2 with a real pro on my side (name was [RZA]Dea***). He was flying around , shooting from everywhere with arials. He made 3 amazing goals. Damn. One from the other team wrote "have mercy" when he made another dream goal.

So, uh, does anyone else think that the game could use some more mechanics from actual soccer? I'm talking about not letting the game end if the ball is in the box.

Yes, I love buzzer-beaters but yesterday I had a ball literally most of the way past the line and the game still ended. You should have to clear it for the game to actually end in my opinion. Would make things more tense.

I agree with this. Once the clock runs out the ball should be cleared (if its in the box) before the game actually ends. It would make endings much more interesting.

Having a lot more success on doubles, guess 3 on 3 was just too chaotic for me. Scored two goals last game, one of them being a last second game winner. I usually score 1-2 goals per game which is a huge step up from how I was playing before. I don't think I'm ready for ranked yet, I'll keep trying to improve and then maybe ill try ranked next week

We should be getting patch notes soon

So excited for a patch lol. Hopefully DLC news isnt far behind. I want morreeee. I hope they have rewards for Season mode

Finally tried it on PC after not playing in like 2 weeks thanks to college moving and rebuying.

Still got it :D

Is Rocket League coming out in Japan? Because if it ever does, you realize we're all gonna be fucked.

Uh, implying their competitive scene would be bigger? Yeah no, I have next to no worries about them getting Kronovis from thin air.

Really go for ranked 2on2. I think it's really perfect. And don't be afraid, everybody in your matchmaking range misses balls, saves and whatnot. It's hilarious when 3-4 cars are scrambling around the ball without getting it in one direction. It's often easier then playing AI. There are some better player here and then but even then you can learn fighting them. I never forfeit when behind. Only if partner quits.

I can't seem to get the custom chat working. Just doesn't do anything when I hit send.
It's a bug on ps4 when you leave the ps4 in rest mode and rocket league still open

What I do is leave ps4 in rest mode close application and then just reboot the game.
