GB's QL is a super turnoff so far. They spend more time with the file manager, mini games, and the hacking plot than the game :|

That stuff is all totally optional (well, you have to play story mode to unlock Endless, but it doesn't take that long). I think the file manager is cool but its' not like required. Was probably a poor idea to try and showcase it in a quicklook though. I waited a few levels before I dove into that in my vids.

Been playing it all week, fantastic game. It has its flaws and can get a bit repetitive and punishing but it's crazy to think how well the game works. There could be a small bit more to it but it's very enjoyable, especially with all the mods and endless mode etc. some pretty neat 4th wall breaking too

This looks really slick. Guess it's pretty short, but I'm in.

Only the main story is short. After you finish it, you unlock the Endless Mode and the Challenge Modes. There is a lot of gameplay to be had there.

Any comment on performance?

It seemed to run just fine on my i5-2500K and GTX770. Load times are very fast even on an old HDD. However, the graphical options were incredibly limited and according to the Steam overlay FPS counter, the framerate was locked to 60 (I have a 144Hz monitor...). I have not tried running the game in windowed mode to see if that makes a difference.

Very minimal gfx options, but I had no problems hitting 1080p/60FPS on a i7 4770k and Raedon 6950. Not that that's impressive. But I wouldn't expect major issues.

Only "performance" complaint is "instant" restarts have a 1-2 second animation, but I think that's a deliberate choice (that I disagree with)

Also as I complain in my video, the game isn't available at native res in Windowed mode. I've noticed a few other games do this, I guess they think they're "helping" by not making a window actually BIGGER than your display, but I need a 1080p window to force borderless fullscreen with native res. It's a fairly specific case but still annoying.

Still not received my Kickstarter key for Superhot...

Backer keys will probably be at launch. Press copies are different.

Wait, what?

What time is the game being released?

Spent the morning checking the website, anxiously watching the counter tick down. It hit zero about five minutes ago, and now it just reads "TODAY". Had a Quick check of the online stores an none have it listed for sale and Steam says it's unlocked in 5 hours time.

Aw man. I was all excited and everything.

Yep, same here. Don't know why they set it like this.

Anyone know if there's a third person mode for replays or anything? I've seen one instance where I swear a bullet shouldn't have hit me, and one where I swear it should have. Must have barely hit/missed a limb or something but that's not clear in first person. It hasn't been a major gameplay impediment but I really did want to see exactly what happened there in 3D space.

Oh damn, in TB's video, he shows that you can
block bullets with thrown objects
. Man, the real time replays of this are going to be amazing

Already got my backer Steam key. So not that

Regarding the spoiler:
Yeah, that's super cool. Bullets also knock downo ther bullets, and the hitbox for bullet-bullet interaction is extra wide. Lots of cool options in the game if you have items around, even throwing a gun to stop a bullet works.

And oh, maybe contact 'em then. KS reward distro is always weird, I tend to just wait for a day after release before I get too antsy myself. Small operations distributing thousands of keys doesn't always go smooth

Heh, thinking now, the best movie comparison for this is probably that warehouse fight from Wanted. Slow motion, constant movement, dodging bullets, shooting bullets with other bullets, grabbing guns out of the air while throwing spent guns away...

That's a pretty good analogy, down to the weapon-swaps. I actually really like how low the bullet count is in guns (4 shots?) you often won't go more than 2 kills without switching weapons, keeps things intense.

If you don't like text, I also made a video (same as the text but it looks more pretty since there's gameplay).
Some gameplay spoilers in here, beware if you're sensitive to that kind of stuff (starting at 2:07).

It's almost like Gametrailers never left :')

Can't wait to pick this up when I get home

I had no idea they were actually making a full game. The last time I heard of Superhot was years ago when GB looked at whatever they had at the time on UPF. Seemed neat then but mostly just a proof of concept.

I'll be adding this to my wishlist for sure.

Yeah, even had a very successful Kickstarter ($250,000, 250% funded) in 2014

Wow... good for them! I am a little surprised the interest for something like this would be that high. I think I will be Devil Dagger-ing for a while still but this might be next on the list. I love the visual style that this game has.

Reading more and more about the game and seeing all these gifs and videos posted is making me seriously consider picking it up.

Curious how long the actual 30missions will take to complete though.

It was actually the fastest game to be Greenlit on Steam at the time (five days)

I saw the reviews and then that quote from Kotaku which was pure hype inducing for me but watching the gameplay videos I'm puzzled.

It doesn't look anything like a re-creation of any of the great hollywood shootout moments and I'm not talking about the visuals. It looks like a game of constant slow motion toggling. You approach each encounter with a frame by frame avoidance of bullets and thats about it.

I don't get it. What am I missing?

Any idea if the Humble Store version is going to be DRM free?

That's the one thing that is holding me back from jumping on the GmG discounted pre-order.

Give the prototype a little go and see if it's for you or not https://superhotgame.com/play-prototype/ (doesn't work on Chrome)

I'd nearly forgotten it was coming out. Fortunately this OT reminded me. I'm happy to see it reviewing so well, too.

Somewhere last year - I can't remember where - somebody said something about the length being about the same as Portal. Looking at the game now, that sounds about right.
