Saw the thread in the gaming forum only after I ran into problems myself. Was shocked to see that the thread was over 10 bloody hours old and the shitty drivers were still online.

Consider this a PSA. The new NVIDIA 364.47 will cause your PC hard reset and get into a blue-screen-of-death reboot cycle. You will need to use a system recovery to get back up and running. It's fucking bullshit and the drivers are still up.

Here is the nvidia forum thread for the issue: https://forums.geforce.com/default/...thread-released-3-7-16-/post/4825588/#4825588

Going to quote the thread from the gaming forum.

"Windows 10 here, black screens everywhere. I don't recommend installing, this is the very first time I experienced an issue with a NVIDIA driver, guess I'm part of the club now.."

"Can no longer boot, TDR failure every time"

Driver cause issues and BSOD upon rebooting for a lot of people.
BE CAREFUL!

Possible solution: https://www.reddit.com/r/thedivision/comments/49cq5m/nvidia_driver_available/d0qqw6r
Safe mode allows you to remove the drivers but upon reboot it would go wrong if i tried to reinstall the drivers. If you can get in safe mode, DDU is able to scrub the drivers. It'll do its thing and reboot for you, then just reinstall the latest drivers.
Don't forget to set your "Output dynamic range" back to full!
People are reporting it's a multi-monitor issue.

"i can verify as the above stated its a multiple display setup problem i tried and got same results.

disconnect a monitor
install
reconnect "

Try that if you are having issues.
Corrupt my windows install if old (in the OT).

Edit:

For people who installed the drivers and want to revert back to older drivers just to be safe:
Use safe mode with networking, then download and run this: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
After restarting, download and run the 362 driver installation: http://www.geforce.com/drivers
Restart again

Edit:

364.51 beta drivers have been released: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/99512/en-us

Holy shit, thank you for posting this. The NVIDIA GeForce Experience thing just popped up on my screen to update, and I clicked it and checked GAF while it loaded. This just saved me a huge headache.

Yeah, I don't go to the Gaming forum every day and I wish I did before I installed those drivers.

Ugh.

Also, for Windows 10 users who are having problems, looks like the F8 key no longer works for boot options...you just have to let your PC BSOD+Reboot something like 5 times before windows takes you to the advanced boot options menu. From there, you can eventually get to System Restore (which does seem to resolve the problem). It's a fuckign hassle and a half for the average consumer and IMO the drivers should have been pulled hours ago.

I almost bought an NVIDIA card a couple weeks back but the price stopped me ... now I'm glad I didn't for now as the new PC is windows 10 and I've got 2 monitors...

Of course I did just finish RMA'ing a 290 because the crimson driver ATI put out disabled it's fans and cooked it so... pick your poison I guess.

I wouldn't buy a NVIDIA card right now because of DX12 and the asynchronous compute fiasco.

Ugh, this brings back some bad memories. Here's a post I made in the GeForce forums in 2014:

(My PC specs are in my signature.) This sounds a lot like the issue I've been having. I am shocked that this issue has been going on for a year and there's still no official fix! I installed the latest non-beta driver using GeForce Experience.

First, I began getting artifacts/screen tearing. Not only when gaming, but while doing anything on my PC.

This rapidly progressed to the black screen issue that many have described in this thread — I would start my PC, and after the "Starting Windows" screen my display would go black. Sometimes my PC would reset.

I did extensive error testing, memcheck, etc. and isolated it (I thought) as a hardware problem with my GPU. So I sent it in to MSI and they sent me back a refurb.

Hooked up my new refurbished GPU and... the same black screen error! This time I noticed something else too. You know how your fans will speed up for a second right when your turn on your PC? Well, when my GPU is hooked in, at startup my fans will speed up, then slow down, then speed up again, then slow down, and then speed up once more before slowing down to normal. So it's 3 fan bursts instead of the usual 1. I have no idea why that is happening, or what it means.

I took out my GPU and it goes back to the normal 1 fan burst when I boot up. My display also works perfectly fine (using the onboard graphics display). So I'm basically back to square one! I thought it was a hardware issue but now I think it has to be a driver issue. Or maybe somehow a driver issue is causing my GPU hardware to malfunction, if that is possible.

I already uninstalled my nVidia drivers using DDU in safe mode, and reinstalled them using GeForce Experience. No dice. I saw a post in here that recommended trying an older driver, so I will uninstall them again and this time install the drivers on the MSI CD that came with my GPU box. Those drivers should be pretty old by now.

I will also try changing my BIOS display settings from "auto" to "PCIE" to make sure this isn't an issue with my motherboard's onboard graphics. I updated to the latest BIOS, but that didn't fix my issue.

I really hope this isn't an issue with my monitor, because that would be ridiculous. Buying a new monitor just to be compatible with my GPU drivers? That is too much.

And here's the post I made when I figured it out:

Following up on my earlier post, I am happy to report that I fixed my black screen issue. I used a combination of several fixes that were posted in this thread. Here are the steps that I took:

1. I first established that my PC was running fine without my GPU hooked in. I connected my monitor to my motherboard and used the onboard graphics. No black screen issues. PC ran fine.

2. Updated my BIOS.

3. Uninstalled GeForce Experience.

4. Turned my PC off, unplugged power cord, and hooked up my GPU.

5. With my PC still unplugged, I held down the power button for ~1 minute.

6. Replugged power cord and booted up my PC in safe mode (without networking).

7. In safe mode, I uninstalled my GeForce drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller, and then restarted my PC.

8. Booted up Windows normally, installed old GeForce driver (v320 I think, the version that came on the CD I got with my GPU purchase).

9. Shut down (not restart), booted up, entered BIOS, reset settings to default.

10. Restart, booted up normally, no black screen, tested GPU by playing Skyrim, Torchlight II, Civ V, Trine 2, Smite. Everything working great. Success!

So it's definitely an issue with the newer GeForce drivers.

I later realized that the most confusing part in my case was that my original GPU actually did go bad (artifact/screen tearing issues). But before I sent it back to MSI I tried updating my drivers to see if that would help, but this resulted in the black screen issue. Since my GPU was already beginning to malfunction, I blamed it on my hardware and did not suspect my drivers. It was only after I got my new GPU and still had the black screen issue that I figured out the common denominator was the GeForce drivers. I spent my entire weekend figuring that out lol, but in the end it's fixed so I guess it was time well spent.

Moral of the story: Do not update your GeForce drivers unless you absolutely need to! It sadly isn't worth the risk.

I'm not super computer savvy so the amount of hours/days that went into Googe/YouTube research on that issue was ridiculous. Almost 2 years later and I'm still using the same old driver version. I'm scared to update.

Jesus :\

The thing that really grinds my ass about this specific one is that the thread on the gaming forum was created at 11:27am EST. It's now 9:22pm EST. The drivers are still up.

I have utterly lost all confidence in nvidia drivers with this one. I'm opting out of their beta drivers and will only be updating drivers a fucking week after release and only if there are no issues.

It's not like I can say ATI is that much better as all my ATI cards (post 9800pro which was a terminator in regards to reliability) have died due to overheating (and I never OC any of my hardware)

Thanks for the heads up. I've been eyeballing that yellow exclamation point on the system tray and was meaning to update the driver. I also use dual monitors so this would've been a nightmare. Crisis averted for now.

I installed mine before I left to go to the store and my computer isn't crashing. How do I revert right now to completely avoid it?

Edit: I have dual monitors.

Well if the issue I had is any indication, they won't pull the drivers at all. That issue I had in 2014 had been known for a year.

From what I understand, if you survived the install then you should be fine.

Sorry that I don't have anything more definitive to tell you ):

I remembered how to roll it back and did it anyway. Don't wanna deal with any of that on the off-chance that it messes up.

My guess is they were contractually obligated to have "game ready" drivers out for The Division's release. They'll have patched drivers out by Wednesday would be my guess

You know what...I've never even considered the possibility that they could enter into a binding agreement to release drivers in time for a game release.

It makes sense and would somewhat explain why they are not taking down the drivers. It's still no absolution because it would only make sense if they value those agreements above their paying consumers.

Don't all the people on team green always wank off over how great Nvidia's drivers are? Wtf is this shit?

Literally every company has fucked up updates at one point or the other. This shit happens and its why you pay attention before blindly installing.

Not every company keeps known shite drivers up 12 hours after they recognize a problem with them, however.

I haven't updated my Nvidia drivers in ages because I kept getting TDR issues, "Display Driver has stopped responding", blue screens, etc. with all the new drivers on my multi-monitor setup (in fact, I had to revert to older drivers, which have been fairly reliable). Hopefully this fuckup will get them off their ass to fix this mess. I don't see why I should be using months old drivers on hardware that isn't exactly ancient.

They are never going to fix the TDR. It's Microsoft issues according to them not Nvidia's.
I'm stuck on 347.25 that was released Jan'15. Every single driver after that gives me TDR.

I can't take any risks with these as my 560ti was killed during a TDR... GPU was running perfectly fine for 3 years before a certain driver installation.

Thanks , will install those tonight.
Forgot to install UPLAY though since i resinstalled my windows sunday...probably wont be trying the division tonight :(
I would recommend letting other people beta test those drivers first. Monitor Twitter and see if people are having issues with these new drivers before you do an install.

The days where I inherently trusted that nvidia drivers were well tested are behind me.

That makes 0 sense to me considering they have old drivers that work. Something they introduced has broken that shit. But I have no idea. It's a shame.
