is there a way of resetting chapter progress? I fucked up chapter two by not realising the day system wasn't completely scripted.

You can select to continue chapter 1 in the play menu. It will restart at the end of chapter 1 (the sword fight scene). Just finish it and then you will be able to begin chapter 2 again. Also, it's worth making an extra save game at the start of the cave puzzle (in case you want to restart without having to play the beginning of chapter 2 again).

This chapter seems kind of buggy. I've hard a goblin's hat standing 3 feet from his body. I've had one scene where it appears like animations weren't finished. Variety of other animation issues. Wonder if they're low on budget, definetly not nearly as polished as chapter 1.

the puzzles were almost fantastic, and kind of ambitious (if poorly messaged at times), but man, they really didn't finish this.

There's literally an unfinished cutscene sitting in the middle of this game. Like, yeesh. It's heartbreaking after how much care clearly went into episode one's animation and presentation.

Have the team spoken about this episode's development?

Mixed feelings on this new Act. I was really into it in the first half, I think in general the entire
prison escape
is really well done and clever, with multiple ways to do things and no way to completely screw yourself over. And consequences that feel heavy. However the end was clearly rushed and I felt didn't really make a lot of sense with how things were going. Judging by Steam stats and just general buzz I think this series isn't doing as good as Activision hoped and the scale of it was probably cut back a lot from Act 1 to 2's development.

It might have been too grand a vision anyway as the KQ name has been dormant for so long that it's going to be hard to find attention with a new audience and it at least at first seems like a big departure from the old series to old timers, especially the intro of Act 1. The amount of game always seemed really big too for an episodic release of an adventure game, act 1 was like 6 hours on it's own.

Totally speculation, maybe
the characters werr meant to be able to die but the game wasn't selling enough to make alternative arrangements in later episodes

i do believe that the sales impact the episodes (another great reason why episodic is a dumb style) But in this instance:
i dont think they wouldv let the player continue the game with 4+ characters dead. I think instead if this game had sold well we would have seen more (practically... any?) new characters in this episode.

Maybe (hopefully) the mixed/negative feedback will positively impact the next entry.

Sigh

i think what irks me is maybe the biggest complaint people nagged on about the first episode was not being able to skip dialogues... as if that was a part of the game's design and structure that couldnt be simply remedied with a simple patch. Well... the skip button is here. Where is everybody ;)
Maybe the 2nd thing people complained about most were QTE's. Well those are gone now. And despite whatever budget difficulties they may have, episode 2 continued to show thoughtful design and good writing.
Heres to hoping people wake up on this ;)
Because i dont know where they could continue to adjust. I dont think they should. They know what theyr doing and have so far done it well.

I don't think any of the feedback they're receiving will surprise anyone on the team. They needed more time on this act.

I really hope they were developing act three concurrently or something. :(

It's like The Odd Gentlemen hit a homerun on the first ball but nobody was looking, and now they've been relegated to the minors.

Accurately put. And some people were looking but they were like "why wasnt it a a homerun that bounced off a billboard"

I really loved the gameplay mechanics but the whole thing wasn't optimized. TOG are really smart people, hopefully the next chapter fixes the hitches and jankiness.

So..
..is ep 3 gonna be "when Graham met Val"? :)

Finished the 2nd chapter in the xbox one.Was really poorly optimized with framedrops constantly.Much shorter than the previous one.
Look at this scene:

1
2

This kind of errors and optimization reminds me in a bad form to telltale games and that's not good.

That scene is infamous. Like, I just can not believe that this wasn't just cut and replaced with an item pickup. Who okayed this? This feels like a middle-finger to a manager or publisher or something, which is funny, but jesus christ look at it. I'm trying to work out if I'm missing a reference or something.

Finished...was never able to
save everyone
so I opted for
the unicorn over the baker's wife

A lot of those trophies seem really annoying for an adventure game. I'm not going to bother platinuming this one.

It was a lot of fun and creative and charming as ever, but it wasn't as big of a "WOW" moment was episode one was for me.

I'm kind of upset that I bought this. Chapter 1 was fine but hampered by Graham moving so fucking slow but I actively dislike how Chapter 2 is set up. Oh well.

I've been playing chapter 1 thanks to PS+. So many mixed feelings, action scenes are really bad, and everything feels half baked. I also really dislike how the game seems to hide content or punish you for nothing. I guess that might be in line with old KQ games but come on. Now I'm afraid to interact with anything because the game might be hiding other alternatives to tackle it that I don't know about already.

I don't think I'll even finish this chapter. Such a waste.

When I saw this scene, I interpreted it as a weird time lapse thing at the time and didn't give it a second thought but seeing it again here I see that's not right.

I just finished chapter 1 and it all went smoothly, could you be a bit more specific what didn't work for you? paying for key items did worry me at first, but it worked out well to progress.

I just wish it had a skip button when you fail some of the action sequences, waiting for the npcs to do their jokes or victory dances all over again started to annoy me.

This looks right up my alley but I tend to marathon these games so I'll wait until all episodes are available.

Can't wait! Even though the last episode wasn't the best, it's still a delight to play.

Yep, really helps that Josh Keaton is a great Young Graham.

Destructoid is reporting that episode 3 will release on 4/26.

It will apparently focus on
the romance between Graham and Valanice.

This one looks like its gonna be sweet, seeing Graham all muscly with a beard gonna be a bit weird. Hopefully he still a bit like his old self.

Wish they gave up who voices
Valanice, and how will Manny play into this episode.

I was wondering when chapter 3 would get released. I'm looking forward to it. Chapter 1 was brilliant, chapter 2 was interesting and fun but felt a bit rushed.

So this comes out in a few days :)

Although the long periods between chapters have affected my enthusiasm for the game a bit, i'm still excited to play. Hopefully chapter 3 will be awesome too.

Woah, didn't realize Chapter 3 was coming out so soon. Loved chapter 1 and enjoyed chapter 2 as well. Looking forward to see where things go.

Alright, finished. This chapter is basically the polar opposite of 2, which I expect will come as good news for most everyone. Loads and loads of character moments, ongoing plot development, no repetitive faffing about, no broken cutscenes, and there are even a lot of callbacks to your choices and actions in the previous chapters. I also apparently completely missed a couple of characters going by the voice acting credits.

Basically takes KQ2 and breaks it over its knee, though.

I'm super interested in it but not until it's complete, I can't wait for weeks/months between episodes.

For what it's worth, the way that King's Quest is structured to have each chapter be a bit more of a stand-alone story makes it a lot more palatable for me, as episodic releases usually drive me nuts. Waiting 3-4 months for the next part of a TellTale series is pretty agonizing, and Life is Strange was a pretty tough wait too, but I find I'm not minding the pace of this as much. Each of the chapters is a bit more substantial in terms of playtime as well so it feels like there's more to do in each episode (again, using an average TellTale game for comparison). The way that Graham ages between the episodes also seems fitting, as seeing the new, older character model in each episode after a few months away makes the time in between feel less arbitrary in a way. It's hard to describe, but I'm really digging it so far.

If you'd rather wait until it's all finished I'm not trying to dissuade you otherwise, just throwing in my 2 cents that this particular game handles the episodic format a bit better by having each episode be a bit meatier and also a bit more stand-alone than many of the others that are out there right now.

That all being said, the wait between chapters is fairly long. If the current schedule holds, then Episode 5 will release some time in December/January (not to mention the promised epilogue), about 16 months from the launch of the first episode.

Glad to hear it's back in good shape, wasn't a fan of 2. Probably give it a go tomorrow. Kinda mad our choices show up now I had to get a new ps4 and don't think I have a save in the cloud, just my luck. Also didn't know it was released today till I saw it downloading. You would think Sony could have mentioned it in the blog, though I don't think they did with chapter 2 either.

Just finished up the trophies. So glad I only missed two
poisonous snake and the other princess getting the perfect present
.

Much better than missing every trophy in episode 2 and the stress of rescuing everyone. Bit disappointed that the playthrough where
I let everyone starve
was the one used for chapter 3 since I can't remember what I chose over the 2.5 playthroughs I did of chapter 2.

Anyways, yes this chapter was excellent and full of humour. Loved the new characters and there were some really gorgeous locations:
