Games you remember, names you don't

If the question is Genesis rpg, I'd default answer Landstalker (assuming Phantasy star is too obvious).

Try http://www.listal.com/list/rpg-world-genesis-mega. The picture of Landstalker has a waterfall at least :)

Holy crap, I think this is it. I know I've glanced at this before when trying to figure out what game I was remember, but now that I sat down and watched the intro, this is totally it. Man.

Edit: ...and apparently it's in a Genesis collection I own on Steam! :lol

This looks interesting too, might check it out. I'm inexplicably in the mood for old Genesis games lately.

I remember watching Electronic Playground years ago and seeing clips of this first person game. I'm not sure what year is from (early 2000s? )or even what platform it was on. All I remember is that the character had a blue stone or orb that shot out bolts of energy or lightning by swinging the stone.

Anyone have an idea what this game could be?

Clive Barker's Undying maybe? Or was it in a more modern/futuristic setting?

This is probably one of my favorites threads ever here at The NeoGAF™

It's introduced me to a ton of classic games I'd have never tried otherwise.

I remember a game that I played a long time ago on my Genesis where you participated in really short stages, always running from the bottom of the screen to the top (south-north). You'd be in control of your character, but it was almost like a bird's-eye view. I believe you could play it with two people on the screen at once, going south-north and fighting in an almost medieval-type setting.

My dad rented it for me when I was a kid and I never remembered the name of the game so I could never rent it again. I tried for the longest time to find it each time I rented a game, but I never found it again. It was fun as shit, too.

Sounds like Gain ground?

I posted it like a hundred pages back, but it was a DOS game, had like a garden with rows of carrots, and I think gofers?

Don't remember much else, but it bugs me that I can remember the name.

Totally. As a kid we had a Genesis, and for whatever reason we had a fighting game whose name I couldn't remember and stuck out in my mind for the cover of all things. Turns out it was Eternal Champions, an MK knockoff.

There is a game on the 2600 that fits the description, it is called Gopher...

There was a ps4 game that I was really looking forward too and I can't find it for the life of me. It was a Japanese game similar to the battle system of Valkyrie chronicles but I remember they were shooting guns. Looked like a pretty good tactical rpg and I remember finding videos on it awhile ago but can't find it for the life of me anymore. Anyone know the name of it and if it ever released in the us ?

I suddenly remembered a game I played in a motel nearly three decades ago. Details are a bit hazy, but I know it's a mid-to-late eighties (single screen?) platform game and I think the protagonist was a kangaroo (and no, the game wasn't Atari's Kangaroo, if you were wondering) and green (or black, I'm not sure) blob-like enemies had to be avoided.

I also remember the colours gray and green being quite prevalent in this game. Perhaps everything took place in a factory or spaceship, which would explain the gray (metallic) colour scheme.

It also might've been possible to enter doors and/or use elevators, but I'm not so sure about that.

Anybody got a clue about this one?

Since the 90s I've been trying to find this game for the longest time but I always come up short.

Basically, it's a Gameboy game, not color but Gameboy. All I remember is some type of type of Conan The Barbarian/Warrior/Gladiator on the front of it and I think some skeletons or monsters behind him possibly holding him back. The actual game, all I remember is going up a hill and maybe jumping over boulders? Something like that. I've been lost since but it's a traditional Gameboy game and probably one of the only ones I had.

Sounds like the cover art for Fortress of Fear.

I'd suggest checking out wizards and warriors

I don't know about boulders or hills, but the cover sounds like Wizards & Warriors X

Oh. I'm on it.

Thanks!

Also, while I mentioned earlier the protagonist was a kangaroo, it might've also been a different kind of marsupial. Or it might've even been an alien vaguely shaped like a kangaroo! All I know is that my younger self instantly thought it was a kangaroo when I laid eyes on it back then.

The first game I ever played. Platformer for old IBM's. A little man walking around platforms with ladders. I think it had a gun. Thats it sorry :( Also an isometric-view game with a starship in space shooting asteroids. Very old as well. Probably 25 years or more.

Given the age you suggest these games are, I should point out that that's the era where a PC game would generally ask you to select a graphics mode, and they could look quite vastly different. If the game looks 'too colourful', that doesn't necessarily mean it's not the one you're after.

Obviously I can't state with any certainty exactly what you're talking about based on that, but I can throw some possibilities your way.

Lode Runner

There's a lot more possibilities, of course, although I'm surprised by how many I thought might be the case didn't actually have ladders, that's a rather good distinguishing feature!

Isometric view? I can't think of many space games that use an isometric view - Zaxxon being the biggie, of course - and I'd imagine that if it was Zaxxon, you'd be talking about the environmental obstacles more. Still, I'll think further.

Lode Runner an Zaxxon

I cant believe you actually made it! Thank you very, very much mclem. I'm pretty sure the first one is Lode Runner as it wasn't too colorful, I do remember that. Blue platforms and black foreground always. About the second one, Zaxxon, it might be this one actually. I do recall some asteroids. Maybe I'm mixing games, but It really looks like this is the one as well. Anyway, thank you again, you've made my day.

Hi,
I'm looking for the very first adventure game I played.

I was quite young so my memories are bad and I couldn't ever recall the name of this game.

What I remember:

- Adventure game
- Static images
- Black and white
- I believe it was a first person view, all playable with the mouse

- Running on the PC 1512 (in France, think this machine has other names in other countries) of my friend's dad
- Must have been year 1989

- The title is made of several words
- The title contains "Doctor" or "Profesor"

I know, it's thin :(

Castle of Dr. Brain, perhaps? Or maybe its sequel, The Island Of Dr. Brain?

Maybe one of the Explora/Chrono Quest games? (no mention of the words Doctor of Professor though)

There was a Sega Genesis game I had as a kid where you played as an anime school girl to start, but then changed into a warrior woman (bikini armor with cape) and was able to us a sword. It played like a platformer/action game of that time, so it wasn't an RPG.

There was a football game on the SNES, which had pretty realistic penalties from behind the player. The only thing I remember other than that is the sound of the ball being kicked in open play being weirdly metallic, like a bucket being punted or something.

Any ideas?
