(Rumor)(spoilers) this Possible UC4 Easter Egg oh boy

It makes me laugh when we have years worth of hints and people still refuse to even humour the idea of a new Crash game being announced.
I mean, we're getting Shenmue 3. A game that no one saw coming and is being supported/funded by Sony themselves.

Up until June last year, I was cyclical about a Crash revival happening until Sony pulled those tricks out of left field at last year's E3. They know the feelings surrounding that franchise and they have their finger on the pulse on fan demand of certain series' and they go above and beyond to secure those games and strengthen their platform (Shenmue 3, Yakuza, FFVII Remake, The Last Guardian) which is something they're doing because they're in the lead and trying to capitalise on their success.

Do we really need any more convincing? The toy-maker coming out saying that Sony's bring Crash back is really all I needed to hear.

This is a very cool easter egg, though.

Naughty Dog could make a Crash game and it'd be good and I doubt it'd have anything to do with who works there as much it would Naughty Dog being an incredibly talented studio. They don't need to make it, I would assume they would rather make something else, but if they did choose to make it, it'd probably be great.

Like, they're not required for a potential Crash 4 to be good but they're certainly not too-far-gone.

I doubt Naughty Dog is working on it beyond maybe some creative input (if that, even). There's just no way unless development of the game is just starting (since they've been working on Uncharted 4).

If it's Naughty Dog it'll be something like Big Team - Small Team where the main team works on their next big game and the smaller team does Crash. I still don't see it happening.
I think Japan Studio, Sanzaru, or maybe Big Red Button games, who probably have potential if not having to meet ridiculous dead lines. There really aren't that many studios that make 3-D platformers anymore.

I will say this. The toy maker coming it should have been a red flag.

Why would they randomly just make toys for Crash? this to me is part of larger blowout. They know they can get people on nostalgia. So you announce a game and then other various merch for purchase.

ND putting this into their game just means to me it'll come back in a major way.

I'd like to believe that Naughty Dog maybe has some sort of hand in development. Maybe not in-house but rather consulting the project like how Sucker Punch did with Sanzaru for Sly 4.

Jak is a videogame in the Ratchet universe

Ratchet is a videogame in the Jak universe

Crash is a videogame in the Uncharted universe.

Jak is a videogame in the Last of Us universe.

Spyro and Crash are connected through demos, Crash and Jak are connected through a piranha plant, Jak and ratchet are connected through cameos, Jak and Uncharted are connected through strange relic. Uncharted and TLOU are connected through newspaper. Therefore TLOU and Spyro are connected we just have to look deeper.
Naughty Dog-Insomniac Games cinematic universe confirmed.

Wait...Uncharted takes place in the present day, right? The series didn't secretly take place in the 90s, did it?

People can't own older consoles in present day? Especially world travelling adults who most likely kept the last console they purchased?

Given the following assertions: (Despite the fact that Sony might not have the IP and so on, Naughty Dog might be busy with new IP or old IP...)
  • Crash is a game
  • Naughty Dog is a development studio
I saw some people bringing the greatness of ND (very talented, creative ...) and reducing the Crash complexity (such small game, simple graphics...). I really think ND can do a Crash and this is not waste of time, talent or $ (if it turns out to be profitable). Very talented and creative minds can work to create a new Crash (which I think is nor simpler or sillier than any game).

Let's remember that ND first release, Math Jam, was an educational game and they were originally best known for developing the Crash Bandicoot series.

GET IT WHILE IT'S HOT (not taken down)

This confirms the segment was ENTIRELY made for Uncharted and is not a port. They've even remodeled Crash from the ground up. Animations, spin attack, everything's totally different. I can't believe it but seeing it in motion shows just how different it is.

dayum, looks bootleg AF. They had to remake it from scratch. Couldn't port over the original lol. Also this level is a different level. I wonder if its canon with the original 3.

Gatdam, everything about that clip is perfect. The banter between Drake and Elena, Crash Bandicoot, everything.

Second time he falls, crash is just frozen in midair in the pit.
When he falls back down from a jump his animation is stuck.
The spin animation is terrible compared to the original.
His walk is floaty.
The camera is so zoomed out you can see the black sky box.
Something is weird about the way the boulder starts.
His shoes are also clowned sized for some reason.

These things killed my hype a bit. Here is what the original looks like in HD.

Well, Crash isn't really perfect lol, but it gets the job done.

Seems appropriate that modern ND would try to modernize it by giving you tutorials for MOVEMENT.

It looks kinda quickly made. But the original does look more appealing.

Well there's no doubt that if this wasn't a minigame, they would have put their ass into it :V So I don't doubt that Naughty Dog COULD do Crash anymore necessarily :V

Looks pretty identical to me. Would be crazy if they went to the length to re-introduce the texture swimming issues, small camera & pickup movements... everything seems pretty spot on.

There's a few differences, compare the gif above to this one:

Trust me as a lifelong Crash fanatic -- that is NOT Crash 1 running there.

I come late for sure but...

Doesnt this mean Sony have some rights on Crash IP?

This couldnt be there if not... right? : /

In which case, I don't think Sony would pay a ton of money to Activision just to allow Crash to be a quick Easter egg in Uncharted 4.

Either Sony bought the IP, or struck a deal with Activision.

Hmmm...

So at least as of Three Months Ago, Activision are no longer responding to any business enquiries relating to Crash Bandicoot?
I do have to wonder, do people really want the music for Crash? That's what he's talking about right?

Truth be told, for myself, the Crash and Jak games had terrible soundtracks that detracted from the experience. A platformer needs a strong soundtrack and those games did NOT deliver at all - for me, at least.

It wasn't until Uncharted that ND started producing games with a strong soundtrack and UC4? Holy shit.

As a hardcore Crash fan (ND Crash games... and nothing else!) nope ;) There are clearly differences.

wait..hold on...why does Elena still have a PS1? Isn't this game set in 2016?

She must love gaming or something.

Either way this is pretty dope. I don't get a feeling that they paid Activision to put this in the game, they just wouldn't have included it. They must have the IP rights again.

The Crash 1 soundtrack is pretty bland, but in the rest of the games it's pretty good.
And it's not like it's a Nintendo game, you could've always turned the music off.

As a hardcore Crash fan (ND Crash games... and nothing else!) nope ;)

Fans of all games are not hardcore fans? lmao
Clearly spoken like a true "Crash fan".

Or it's a gentleman's agreement; any increased awareness of the Crash property is potentially good for Activision

yeah, i don't think activision would make a huge deal out of them advertising their IP in one of their biggest, if not the biggest, launches Sony has had.

it's definitely possible it'll lead to something but it's just as likely this is a nice easter egg and all those hints were leading up to this.

She probably had it when she was in college or something but was never a big enough of a gamer to keep up with new systems when she went into the real world. Then she found it in the attic and decided to hook it up and play some Crash.

There are an awful lot of people with systems and fond memories of them from their earlier years who simply don't invest into gaming as an active hobby due to time issues or whatever.

Could see this being the case. Someone from Naughty Dog likely networked with someone in Activision and they got talking about Crash and the ND guy said about how they'd love to put a Crash easter egg in Uncharted 4. The Activision rep thought it was a great idea so they set out to actually make it happen.
