DC Cinematic Universe |OT| Superfriends with Benefits

this is far more worrying than anything else to have come from BvS' thud.

He hasn't had much success outside of the Nolan Batman films to be honest. Seems more like WB thought he was part of the winning combo and then just found out he was just along for the ride on those films. It's still surprising to see him shuffled out.

I watched the Lord of the Rings Extended Editions! I can handle it!

lol but BvS doesn't have as many fights, or as many characters. It has a lot of plot threads involving Clark, Bruce, and maybe Lex. I really want to see what else could possibly be there. 2 hours missing is nuts!

It's 2 hours of them standing in the rain while crying.

I feel like Roven had no creative effect either way. Anyways this is shaking out to be really interesting, it seems like we won't see the full effect of this change in staff until 2018 at the earliest.

The way these kinds of purges go, it's near impossible to say what kind of affect someone like Roven had. They could have been very hands off as a producer or they could have been knee deep in the process, who is to say?

There's no way to know what these changes will bring about until Justice League, but we can be certain that Justice League will look and feel diff than BvS for better or worse.

Speaking of Justice League, it's still strange to me we're quickly coming up on two months of filming and not a peep. Did Warner Bros even send out an official press release stating it started filming?

Error

Jealous of the Glory that is Johnny Depp
They probably just want to reduce the number of hands in the kitchen. I knew that brain trust thing was doomed to fail.

Pretty sure that Berg guy is just there to be that WB nexus, but GJ is the one running the show now. At least when it comes to creative stuff and story arcs.

Dead

well not really...yet

Geoff Johns is just super valuable, and I think Zack and Geoff really have worked out a lot of the creative ideas as to where the characters are going. Geoff [ensures] we’re doing things that are true to the canon because he knows everything about these characters. And Jon Berg is our executive on all the films

This was an interview in March. At the least the "DC Films" thing isn't guys who are just thrown into the mix. They've been involved since the beginning.

Didn't it say that he was day to day on JL... would it be a stretch to say he was day to day for BvS as well?

Sounds to me like the opposite. Johns is there to be the story guy. To make sure all the movies respect the canon (which seems be a sticking point for some not me) and they all weave in together. Who better to shepard that connective tissue than Geoff Johns?

What I find interesting about the Roven news is just how long he's been mixed up with DC properties. To an extent, after producing the successful Nolan trilogy perhaps there was the idea of continuing to hit the same target within WB. So now, maybe you read too deep into it and see it emblematic of WB moving on from The Dark Knight era.

I think between Rebirth and the shake-up, DC seems to be moving away from just making their properties mature and "epic" and trying to restore some of that spirit that made them global icons to begin with.

And ideally what I hope is them understanding all their characters properly. Like how Arrow and The Flash are tonally different, but works for their respective characters and even works when they are together

More fallout. Charles Roven is being removed as producer from certain DC movies. THR

Good. This dude always struck me as just another cook in the kitchen. In my eyes he was a suit that didn't really add anything. I mean if you look at his track record sure he has some hit movies but for the most part they are pretty unspectacular. WB is finally cutting the fat. Looks like we're getting closer to having someone in a Kevin Feige type position, which I've been wanting since the beginning of the DCEU but hey, better late than never!

Fine, fine. I'd be their Feige, no problem. Call me WB, I will make this work.

First order of business; Ropeguy standalone asap.

I hope there will be a poll for the next DC film OT title (in here), Batman v Superman title was pretty awful and biased.

Well someone can call dibs on the thread to make sure they get the name...

Speaking of new threads and names... this one is getting to be on its final legs...

The entire OP for that movie was awful and biased. I get that it didn't do so hot in reviews before it came out, but that OP was shit.

Turned into a cesspool to be honest... I don't mind criticism and I welcome all opinions. But things like "this thing was the worst movie in the history of cinema" or "sucks"... those kinds of posts add nothing and just bring down the entire thread. Like what's the point?

It's honestly just become a meme to hate it at this point.

Edit: wasn't meant to double post my bad.

Wonder Woman only has a budget of $100M?

There's no way that's true... and if it is, bravo WB, bravo... reign in those bloated budgets.

Melissa Silverstein director of the Athena Film Festival said, "“It’s the first movie that a woman has directed — a live-action movie — with a $100 million budget,”

BvS budget putting in the work on that one.

Is there audio? I can imagine she meant over $100m. Regardless, it's not too surprising. That Rock Hercules film and the Clash of the Titans remake hit around there.

I meant specifically the OP. It was lazy, late, and not of the caliber I expected for such a big, highly anticipated movie.

The question is will this adversely effect her power set, we all know Thor gets nerfed every time he has to share screen time with other powered beings.

DCEU Community |OT2| It's not an 'S.' On my world it means 'Rope.'

Seriously, our new OT needs to have a reference to our lord and savior Slipknot.

I'm new here and I couldn't think of a better place for my first post than this community. Big DC fan and looking forward to every single film coming out. I remember hearing back in March about a Suicide Squad game that supposedly ties into the movie but nothing else was mentioned. Has anyone heard anything else about it?

Welcome!

And sadly, nothing. Not even sure that it's real.
