Flashless at the Golden Globes
I can't describe the level of shame I feel for having any semblance of respect for Cruz for not endorsing Trump.

He's not doing it because he thinks Trump will be bad for the country, he's doing it for personal reasons. He knows Trump has no shot and he has made a very calculated move to make a splash right in the middle of the convention. Everyone is talking about him now.

Make no mistake, Ted Cruz is the most dangerous man in Washington. He's cold, calculating and extremely brilliant and everything he does is for himself. He's the LittleFinger of Washington. No one likes him. Not a single senator in Congress endorsed him in the primary and yet here he is... dominating the media and laying down the groundwork for 2020.

People should be reminded Cruz shutdown the government to elevate himself despite other republicans telling him not to. It didn't do anything and other republicans got hate for what he did. He doesn't care about anyone, but himself.

He did the right thing, for probably the wrong reasons. But he's pretty much the only major politician at that convention with a backbone; all the other #NeverTrump people flopped into line in a heartbeat, apparently unaware of the definition of "never".

One of the GOP's greatest strengths is that for so long they've strictly followed the mandate that you support "The Guy," no matter what. No matter how openly stupid, incompetent, and just plain shitty of a person they are, you have their back. Cruz is vile even for a Republican, but I don't care what his motives were on this. It's still refreshing to finally see some of them not supporting their Guy. Though not too surprising when considering who their Guy is.

I don't have sympathy for god awful Ted Cruz. But I do agree that he doesn't have to support someone who attacks his family like that. Whether he's playing the long game or truly has some integrity in his lizard body, I have a tiny ounce of respect for him after this whole thing.

I'll be drinking a few tonight to wash out that ounce.

Agreed, he doesn't have to support shit. But I have no respect for him and I never will. He wasn't doing it out of principle, he was doing it for himself.

Hell, even if he was doing it out of principle he's still a piece of shit.

Never forget... The fish monster. Or that he's not wanted.

Ted Cruz is pure villainy. Distilled evil mixed with every Disney villain ever, followed up by a dash of Charles Manson crazy. I'm glad he shot down Trump at the GOP Convention. Watching a piece of shit politician like him crash and burn is so intensely satisfying.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
Cruz only gets to act this way due to the current political landscape. Not that there isn't a chance Trump could win, but Cruz can probably see the writing on the wall.

What's the point of falling lockstep in with this current incarnation a top of the Republican Party if in less than 4 months it's not gonna exist due to taking the L to Hillary.

I feel like he did the exact opposite power play of Chris Christie who now has to go down with the ship so to speak despite not even getting the VP nod.

It isn't even about me respecting Cruz so much as it's a great calculated polical move for beyond November.

The problem is Cruz isn't smart enough to understand his brand of ideology isn't gonna fly now let alone in 2020 across the wider American landscape.

Cruz wants to pick up the pieces after Trump, that's for sure, but I'll let him enjoy this last stand for now

He's pure, unfiltered evil.

This makes my blood boil.

A display like this only solidifies my position that Ted Cruz should have been the GOP nominee and by extension, PotUS. He was the only candidate with a backbone and the only one who is beholden to nobody. Trump puts on a show that he's his own man but any conservative with half a brain can deduce that he's essentially a Democratic plant designed to fuck over conservatives in this country. If the off chance exists that he isn't, he's for sure running purely out of his ego and not to improve the country.

And so we'll get Hillary Clinton. GG Illuminati. It would be hilarious if it weren't so terrifying.

Is there like a compilation or Greatest Hits of things things Trump said about Cruz during the primary?.

1. Cruz's dad killed JFK
2. Cruz's dad is lying about being religious, people from Cuba aren't religious.
3. Cruz's wife is ugly.
4. Cruz's wife suffers from mental illness and was once suicidal because of Cruz.

They were horrific attacks.

The number of people you will get with this should be pretty good.

I'm actually on Trump's side on this one. The GOP slimeballs designed and planted the pledge at the first debate so that when Trump would eventually lose (which was what they expected) he wouldn't try to go third party. All the hypocrites promptly raised their hand minus Donald who actually had the character to admit he wouldn't support a rival candidate.

Kasich, Bush and Ted are the pieces of shit here IMO, for taking the high path only when they feel it'd help advance their candidacy.

Trump not only signed the pledge, but said today on the record that if he had lost like Kasich has, he also would not support the candidate.

Where's this character you speak of?

Well I missed that. I didn't know Trump eventually signed the pledge, I do vividly remember he didn't at the debate.

I'm not saying the pledge was a good idea, however. They actually thought a non-binding pledge could control Trump, or anyone else for that matter. The whole thing was stupid.

I think the idea behind the pledge was that since Trump had been making vague noises about going third party, it seemed likely that everyone except Trump would immediately agree to it, thus being a strike against him at the debate. Given how the rest of the debate went, it mainly served to make it really obvious that Fox News was trying to take down Trump.

I doubt anyone expected the pledge to be binding on anyone.

Cruz maybe a vile human being like many on this board say he is, but the man is right on this. Trump took it too far in his attacks on Cruz and based on that alone I am not surprised he didn't endorse him. Trump also being a terrible choice for president is also a really good reason, but I am not sure how much that factored into Cruz's decision.

earning a chorus of boos from the floor while getting upstaged in a power play by the GOP nominee himself.

lol in what world did trump upstage Cruz? Nobody is talking about trump today, except to say that Cruz didn't endorse him (or that he hires nazi sympathizers, apparently).
