Rumour: PS4 Slim leaked ?

Why are the two front USB ports so far apart? Why no optical port at the rear so I can hook up AV? Also none of those PS symbols align in height on the bottom of the console. Still not sure on this, will wait for proper reveal if slim exists.

It doesn't matter who they credit as long as it's Gaf! That's all we need is for GAF to be credited! We broke the news so we get credit!

Most sites did credit us btw including Kotaku.

It'll likely 249-299$, but I don't know just how much they can shave off of the price from the current 349$ since they're in as so far cutting down plastic and cutting out optical audio, but otherwise keeping everything fairly constant. I feel like, if it were going to be 249$, we'd be seeing 299$ 1 or 2TB models as well but that doesn't seem to have shipped kind of like how the X1S was brought to market with the limited TB model.

it is going to be $299 for 500 GB.... and it is going to sell like crazy and better than $399 Neo.

Also, real pics from IGN/twitter/thread look good too.

I wonder if the LED is in the slot like that fake image though? Seems odd to lose it, its functional, not just power on/off
I personally hope that the LED is in the PS logo in the top. Only this time you can set the brightness and create a custom colour scheme.

Weird that nobody has plugged it in yet. Where's the LED? Where does the HD go - side or back?

What the fuck are Rocksmith players such as myself going to do with an optical port-free PS4? This only effects me in the event of a PS4 failure with the slim, but I'm hoping Neo keeps the optical out.

Nope, the slim version benchmark will always be the PS2 slim.

The thing is the GOAT console reduction.

Definitely agreed there, really shows how much HDDs are holding us back in terms of size.

Perhaps I should have said that the Xbox One S has set the benchmarks for current-gen home console revisions, isn't exactly a massive accomplishment but it still looks damn good.

There's something strange about the packaging; the picture of the console is too close to the edge of the box with almost no margin. Not sure what the original looked like but this looks wrong.
Of course it might still be real, just thought it stood out.

Neo in March is a colossal mistake IMO if true...being significantly underpowered in comparison to Scorpio, Sony needs this thing on the market ASAP
um what?
Neo in march with a small spec upgrade, or they could push to next holiday and revise plans to compete with scorpio when it finally comes out in the fall of 2017. The slim competes with the S and they can push Neo back a bit if they feel they need to boost it's power. or they can release Neo with leaked specs in October and then do PS5 a year or 2 after scorpio.

How can you look at this picture and not think the slim looks like cheap shit next to the OG

It's real.

Packaging is oddly light on PSVR advertising considering they're due out around the same time.

Sure, the One S looks better, but the PS4 Slim won't be Sony's flagship product. Let's see what the Neo looks like. If they drop the ball there, then Microsoft wins this round of industrial design.
Xbox One S is Microsoft's top selling product and this will become Sony's top selling product so at the end of the day it doesn't matter what Neo looks like. Like for like Microsoft has won.

The white one is classier looking than the black due to it camouflaging cheap materials easily in a photo. A better comparison would be black PS4/black slim.

An issue with white though is it sticks out in the typical TV setup (unless you like that).

Sony was obviously blindsided by the S and 4K playback that's why we have this regular slim model with no word on HDR functionality.

IF youre bumping the specs...sure, March makes sense...but if you're going to launch with the leaked specs, they better get to market before Christmas...

I don't think there is any reason to have just $100 between the consoles, it does no good to either SKU. It's got to be at least $150, there has to be a major line of differentiation.

Yeah, with the computer monitor I figured it's not going to work, but the consoles are designed to be played on TVs...

Never thought about plugging into the receiver... are there not receivers with optical out? I'm not familiar with this kind of devices.

My TV is 6 years old by now and it has Dolby Surround support via optical out. I think that only "ancient" HDTVs can't output surround via optical at this point..
Are you sure it actually does that? My previous Panasonic VT60, a €2000,- TV, only supported stereo output over the optical port and that was released in 2013.

You don't need to use an output for audio on a receiver as it's the controller of your speakers. (Overly simplified)

Yep, the XB1 S ia a really good looking console. And that's amplified by how ugly the OG XB1 is. =]

Did this explode when turned on and kill the dude who bought it? Where are videos of this thing working?

Maybe afraid of connecting to psn and getting banned?

Who would choose the 299 over the Xbox One S for 299 and it's much better value? 100 bucks more get the Neo.
