Destiny |OT41| Don't Worry, Leave Happy

After not playing Destiny for like 6 months I'm getting the inch to get back but I'm not sure what do to since I'm a little untrained.

I played a bunch of Iron Banner last week to get to LL 317 but now I'm a bit lost. Can anyone help me out on what to do next?

I'm mostly a solo player but I don't mind grouping up obviously, alt ought I'm a bit awkward if there's a need to use the mic or something but I get over it.

I still haven't done the hard raid either, but I did the normal one like three times back then.

Hey GAF!

I've got one character: a warlock sitting on 40 (LL is 299) and I've almost maxed the Sunsinger tree with plans to max all three.

This week is my first Xur and looks like he's selling Nothing Manacles. (Wish I'd grabbed the Sunsinger armor last week... sigh)

I've about 60 Strange Coins or so, think it's worth picking these up? I mostly play PvE.

Also, if you use SC to buy legendaries, then what do you use Legendary Marks for?

Nothing Manacles is a great buy. You might to re-roll it a couple of times to get a better set of stats though.

Legendary Marks are used to purchase Vanguard gear, Crucible gear, engrams from the Cryptarch, exchange for materials from teh Vanguard master, Iron Banner loot (though that's changing with Rise of Iron), infusion fuel, faction gear and Speaker loot.

Oooh, thanks for the reply!

If Exotics are the "end game", then is it even worth buying legendary (vanguard) armor? Do you buy it as a placeholder until the Exotic you want goes on sale / drops? Or are there cases where the legendary armor is better than the exotic?

You always want to wear one piece of exotic armor. But you also want at least a well rolled (stat and perk wise) piece of legendary armor for each slot because you may switch what exotic you are using. Be it The Ram or Nothing Manacles or Light Beyong Nemesis etc.

Oh...OH! You can only wear one exotic at a time? @.@

Guess my noobness is showing...lol
Time to pick up Samsara then...

Thanks!

He has not had Y2 engrams since TTK unless I'm misremembering.

Nah, I vividly remember blowing my stash of 500+ strange coins in chasing a Graviton Forfeit when Xur sold exotic helmet engram for the first time in TTK. Not as bad as my the great Nighthawk accident where I lost 1000's of coins, shards and motes

Guess they stopped when April update hit/infusion became 100%.

To be more specific, you can equip at the same time one piece of exotic armor and one exotic weapon
And to be even more pedantic and specific, there are exotic class items that can be equipped simultaneously with another piece of exotic armor.

You get them from a quest once you hit rank 25 with any of the three Vanguard Factions: Dead Orbit, Future War Cult and New Monarchy.

A couple of people have expressed interest in improving their PvP game for / before Rise of Iron.

Here's a quick summary of posts where I've written about PvP. These were initially GAF posts, but I put so much effort into them, I created a site to archive them for reference.
And some advice for deliberate practice:

Play Rumble until:
  • You can get to the top of the scoreboard with only primaries
Based on my Trials report cards, most weeks the ratio of Primary to Special is on average about ~50%. So don't focus your work on just shotgunning/sniping which is where the flash is. Learn that scout/HC/Pulse/Auto.
  • You can get to the top of the scoreboard with only secondaries
The an unexpected thing this will teach you is about learning special spawn times and what armor sets to use.
  • Go whole games without dying
This is huge for Trials. Become as slippery as an eel. Become impossible to kill.
Also, ditch 6s. Rumble or Skirmish.
Also, also, save your matches and watch them. If you're really serious, you'll do this even if it's painful. Even if it's taking away time you could be playing.

I'm no PvP god. Just someone else who is trying to deliberately improve my game.
Awesome site, and awesome paintings! Thank you for sharing.

I've been slowly returning to playing Destiny this week.

I didn't realize how rusty and awful I've become. Crucible was just.....not good, I couldn't aim worth a crap and kept over aiming each target. Using the Zhalo Supercell probably didn't help much either.

Then I joined Apes Nightfall... and for shame.... for shaaaaaaame.

I went and read what the June update brought and apparently the loot system is even better now. Nice.

I think I'll farm some strike for Vanguard rep and stuff to try and get to at least level 320 (or more) to try and go for the hard raid if I can catch one here before Rise of Iron launches.

Any seasoned players on Xbox One who want to buddy up for the refer-a-friend quests? I'm about lv 27 now and have time today (morning and afternoon EST). What do you even get for it, and what quests are involved?

I don't have a headset yet but throw me a line (GT: Holden Cawffle)!

4. bitsurugi

6.

Please let me know so I can add you and update roll-call

two more slots for any that require the flawless raider trophy for the platinum

Nice to see fellow Xbox players come out as well. Feel free to add me, I'm always down, and looking for a new raid group after playing with an embarrassing bunch of goons while tagging along with a gaffer.

Ugh.

Xur is selling Universal Remote? FINALLY! It was my first exotic weapon drop in Year 1... but then I got another one immediately after and eventually sharded both. TTK didn't detect that I discovered it and thus I never saw it again.

Probably last 2 chances to get those emblems. Hope people here are in a carrying mood.

I was about to post about this. Wicked and other pvp folks should be around so we may be able to help some. So, if anyone wants help in trials mostly for the flawless emblem quote this post. Low key making a "list" but keep this in mind, this is not a guaranteed list, we could end up not getting anyone there, Mercury is harder than ever.

Also, if you care about pvp and getting better and actually wants to play, we can do it the usual way (aka you playing as well) but if you only care about the emblem or the loot we can do what drizz used to do which is play on your account with two other good players. Odds are way better this way of course. But getting there yourself is way more rewarding too so there is that.

Lastly, and this was something drizz always talked about but never got around to posting, but if you dont really care about all of this stuff and only sees this as a "free thing i can get for no effort" because of other folks' good will...well personally i wouldnt ask for help in that case.

Huh. Apparently, I got a Spark of Light from a postmaster in the Reef. My character's close to 13, but should I use it on her?

Thanks, man.

As an extra favour. Could someone who is on this Raid possibly invite me to their Clan so I can get that trophy too?

everyone in the team has to be the same clan unfortunaetly.

You can get the trophy on taniks level in prison of elders with 3 players in the same clan though.

I'm happy that raid armor actually looks good and Trials gear is different, plus ornaments.

It should definitely encourage me to raid and play ToO more as well.

Well said. I think it's the thrill of the win, the 4-0 down comebacks, and the laughs you have when something goes wrong (Novawhiff). And the stuff like emblems just reminds you of those times. I try to remember that we are playing for fun. :)

Sign me up! I will play on my account and on the best class of all, Hunter. I hope the map is decent.

I'd love to get the cat emblem.

I'm decent at PvP and have quite a lot of Trials experience so I'd prefer to play on my own account. I live in the EU though, so time zones and lag might become a problem.

Igor, sign up for Xbox 360 and get a character up to 335, and carry Nathan to Mercury, by Monday.

Don't bother with that. May as well save it for the next character you start. You are not far off where it would level you up to anyway.

If you can I'd like to try to get the emblem. Though I do want to participate, and I'm like average at best. My skill tends to fluctuates from pretty good to what the hell is she doing.
