Attack on Titan |OT| - Like a Braus

Can you pick whoever you want in most of the story missions, or are you limited to a specific character depending on the mission? I imagine there are a few that force you to be Eren
titan form
, but outside of that are you free to pretend Sasha(or whoever) is the real hero of the game?
For story missions the character is set and you can't change it.

However there are many expedition missions where you can play whoever you want.

Equipment is shared amongst all characters, which makes things simpler.

That's expected but still a little unfortunate to hear since I think my favourite characters are ones you aren't likely to be playing as too often for the most part. You can spend quite a bit of time doing expeditions if you're completionist though eh?
Expedition missions are pretty fun and diverse in fact, and they help getting funds and materials to upgrade your gear, that is also shared between Story mode and Expedition mode.

This is pretty well done in my opinion.

Also, characters have to be unlocked by playing Story mode.

Is there a lot of motivation to replay them, like, higher difficulties type of thing?
Having S ranks :)

I had S ranks an all missions except 3 of them until now, I will surely replay them. And overall, I find the game very fun to play.

I don't know about the difficulty, pretty sure that there are different settings available (at least Easy and Normal).

Damn.
They still havent fixed that??? I mean Arslan even started itself in Win7 compatibility mode, because they knew if you turn it off it will crash...

No. You got the PS4 version on Steam. The thing is that the graphical options are broken and have never been fixed so you have the graphical options set between the Vita and PS3 version, while the game actually would be the PS4 version if they would finally fix that you can change the graphical options....

Actually no, even a person on steam went into the code and fixed some issues, however this was a PS3 to PC port through and through, people just went with that line of thought hoping for the best. However even if what you said was true(not what many are saying on steam) I still got the PS3 version with 1080P resolution lock on my 1440P screen, higher character count, the water is a clear indicator this was 100% the PS3 version.

Never will I purchase any PC Koei port again on blind faith, It doesn't help that I'm fatigued on their games after finishing One Piece,Samurai Warriors 4 and Dragon Quest Heroes on the PS4.

This seems like the first time I've ever had to wait to preorder anything on PSN. I'm in the US and it still isn't on the store. From the posts in this thread, I'm going to have to wait until the day it comes out?

I enjoyed it. Its much much MUCH easier to S rank than any game I can remember in recent memory. But its got some really unique elements and I for one felt that the overall story was subtitled pretty well. Not amazing but it didn't have some of the needless grandeur that has existed in some titles like this.
PC issues sort of suck but all in all its a very fun game 1 time through.

I am debating if I should buy this on PS4 or Steam.

from the videos I have seen, how is the performance on PC compared to PS4?

i think this game is 60 fps on steam with 30 on ps4 but i am not sure.

usually i like my games physical but its actually much cheaper on PC i am torn

Game is supposed to be 60fps but with drops. It is not locked at 30, it can go above. I think that the framerate varies a lot in fact, so it is difficult to tell.

Playing on Xbox One, I feel like the framerate is ok. Not great, but not a problem either. It can have some big drops when there are many titans on screen with all the shit that is happening.

Things that are far away definitely have a "lower" refresh rate. Sometimes, this can look a bit ugly.

Finally, on Xbox One, the framerate is pretty bad in the "camp" sections of the game. You simply go around, talking to characters, so it is not a big problem. But you can clearly see that they did not take the time to optimize those sections of the game. It reminds me of Sonic Unleashed's hubs, that were pretty much the same thing.

I guess that it is probably the same on PS4, but I haven't played it.

I feel that this game deserves its place in the upper category of anime/manga adaptations. It is pretty well done overall.

I can't believe that this can't hold 60 fps on ps4 =\ My potato pc runs it fine and I'm looking forward to it on PS4 Tuesday too and I'm not a person to normally double dip..Thats how amazing the game is. I have just the basic Alienware Alpha, I3, 8gb ram and some random crap GPU and it runs amazing =\

So both PS4 and Xbox One are having huge? fps drops?

Nice to hear that PC version runs good even on mid-range GPUs since port is not really great according to many players.

Curious as well what OS everyone is running this on? I'm on Win10 and got the prompt to play in Win7 mode to stop issues. I'm wondering if that's causing issues for people or not

Got the same prompt, said "yes" and had no problems whatsover.

Finished the Story Mode (as far as I'm concerned) today after about 7, 8 hours. As a fan of the Anime who forgot quite a bit it was absolutely perfect in helping me catch up before season 2 starts next year.

Kind of a bummer that there's an epilogue and that it consists of farming the survey missions to unlock more story missions. As far as I can see you have to get 50% in every area to unlock this area's final mission and after that you can play the next story mission. It all seems to revolve around the
beast titan
, no idea if that's taken from the Manga or a new epilogue exclusive to the game. Played two of those story missions so far but don't really feel like farming the other survey missions - it's just more of the same and without the context of the story it's not that fun to me.

Overall I'm really impressed with this. Great presentation and cutscenes, fun controls, frantic gameplay. Very one-note but it's short enough so it didn't really get boring until the epilogue.

I'm on Windows 10 and turned on Win 7 mode from the start, I have maybe 20 hours or so played now and didn't have a single issue with the game.

Just to confirm, there's no English dub to this is there? All the videos I see are Japanese voices only but I can't seem to get decent confirmation one way or the other.

I'm too impatient to wait for the 30th so I'm deciding what version to get. I'm hearing poor things about the PC version, plus I'd prefer to play this the big TV with surround sound. That said, the PC version is the cheapest option.

I'm either going to buy the PC version from the U.S. Steam store (cheapest), the PS3 version (second cheapest, but I don't know how the port is) or the Xbox One version (most expensive) from the EU store. Any opinions that can help steer me?

There's no dub. Kinda glad though since I heard the dubbing for AOT and it never really hit it off for me.

Been playing the PS4 version and had zero *huge* fps drops. Runs pretty smooth actually.

So, generally speaking, the game seems to be solid? Also, S ranking missions isn't absurd?

It's pretty easy if you use someone like levi, it's much harder as, let's say christa or armin until you level them up quite a bit, Christa becomes especially powerful after she gets a bunch of skills.

Just saw this on my friend's snaps.

This game is awesome, feels different to anything I have played before, the movement feels like a good spiderman game on turbo mode really fun getting around the environments. Combat is good fun as well, Mikasa is boss with her extra attack combo that she gets.

This is definitely a fun ass game. But I have a hard time recommending any game with a 1080p resolution cap. Come the fuck on, it's 2016.

What do u mewn cheapning out? Is the localization weak or poorly translated?
Localising it for the west would generally mean actually putting out a full western audio release.
If you don't do that, you haven't fully localised the game, you've gone the cheaper method of not bothering, but they're charging full price anyway.

As it is, the game should've been somewhere in the £30-40 range for launch, certainly not £50.

I don't really get how a localized dub translates into 1/3 of the overall worth of a video game. Especially for these niche games it's also completely normal. It's either this or no local release at all.

And no, localising doesn't necessarily mean that a new dub has to be recorded. That's just you putting arbitrary rules up :p Especially in many european countries many games still only get released in english with subtitles. For example: Final Fantasy XV will be the first mainline Final Fantasy to ever get a localized dub. So ,according your logic, Final Fantasy X or Final Fantasy XIII should have be £30-games over here? Eh...

Does the anime feature a equal or higher ratio of full-frame weird giant smiles and the eating/disgorging of small humanoids by big humanoids? I like my anime physically disturbing and completely illogical.

That's exactly what kind of anime this is.

Well I'm having a really unique experience with this game. I have never watched the anime, so I am both playing and watching episodes in-between play sessions.

The game really does capture that high speed mobile fighting feeling - and is both visceral and satisfying while the anime fleshes out the world and details. Together it is a very immersive experience. While it may not have been intended to be played this way - I'm having a blast.

Yeah, no offense but I'd agree here.
I couldn't care less about the voice acting as long as a game is made available for play in a language I speak and understand, for lack of a better word.
I would, however, be concerned with a good translation or localization; a barebones translation feels disappointing compared to localization efforts of say XSEED, NISA and AKSYS for example.

Game audio is fine, no real AOT or anime fan would EVER want an english dub and they respected that fact.

I ended up preordering the PS4 version again; found out that if you play in full screen and compatability mode you can't choose anything from the main menu other than story mode and exiting from the game. Multiplayer is also broken and will crash if you're using a mic. Was a nice 1hr preview though. Gonna refund it and wait for a fire sale if Koei fixes it. Could be really awesome in 4K.

I have 20+ hours on the PC version now. I play full screen 1080p in windows 7 compt mode and I have NO problems with the main menu. The game works completely perfect for me. Maybe its just buggy with some setups but my PC is just the standard Alienware Alpha upgraded ram and nothing more. I can play all the modes, go through all the menus just fine! ....I'm still getting the ps4 version though to support the game and play with friends and trophies... Give the game a try on steam if you really prefer PC since steam does refunds now if you have issues. Its amazing on PC unless you have some crazy graphic demands above 1080p.

Meh, with a game like this I don't see many people who didn't follow the story buying the game in the first place.

Okay, so I'm trying to catch up on this topic and gathering info on whether to go PC or PS4.

If I go pc, I'm going to be using a ps4 controller, and graphically I should be good for a steady 60fps (gtx780), also still on windows 7

Is there going to be any problems with that? Or is the PC version basically the PS4 version with better framerate? Also, there's a VSync/screen tearing problem?

Anybody know how to get the last special skill? Levi is max level, but his last skill is still greyed out. (Note that i haven't completed the epilogue yet, been busy playing online)

I already have it on PC! Lol. I have an i7 6700K and 980ti combo. Will try resetting my PC and see if that fixes the problem before I refund. Have you experienced the multiplayer crashes at all? Lots of people on the steam discussion for the game are talking about that at least.

Glad you posted though, maybe the menu issue is just a glitch on my end for some reason
