Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 |OT| Just in Time for Super

So I never bought X1 waiting for a good discount.. and now X2 is out...
Is it worth to buy X2 instead of a X1 or should I save money?

I'm a huge DB fan, also following Super anime...

I loved the tenkaichi series, not much the budokai, nor the last ps3 entries...

Is there also an offline fun part to play with a little of challenge?

Local multi? Tournaments and all the classics modes?

I am really super hyped. Had so much fun with the beta. Combat and movement was so much better and smoother than in xenoverse 1.
The 60fps are so beautiful. It never drops, no matter how many players and special effects are on the screen (played on PS4).
Seems like the have done a very great job with this one!

Edit: Oh, an the "brightness to MAX" really needs to be mentioned in the first post!!
It hurts my soul to know that there will be some people in the world, never realizing about this, and playing with the shitty filter lol.

See if you can find a discount of you can, but just buy X2. It has pretty much all of the content of the first game with so many improvements that it needed and a lot more content. Not much point in buying X1 at this point.

If you loved the Tenkaichi series you'll probably fall in love with this.

You can play pretty much everything offline, which is a lot. Only things that require online are World Touranment/Online Battles, and maybe raid bosses and certain parallel quest but I'm not sure on those two.

Local multi yes, just vs though. I had a lot of fun with it in X1, haven't checked it out yet in X2 but it's supposed to be improved too.

Also is the Conton city online lobby stuff working for anyone? I don't think I'm connected to the server because it won't let me do the world tournament but I'm not sure? Good thing it's still completely playable though unlike the beta.

Sounds good! :)

I just didn't understood if there is a World Tournament option offline... I loved to choose contestant for the Tournament solo and with friends! :D

If it's anything like the Open Beta, you can't do that. You can only do it ones and the game specifically says if you wanna do it again, you have to delete your current save. It's part of the story at the beginning.

Yeah I was just hoping that was because we only had one save slot.

Did everything restart for your in XV1 if you made a new save or did you just plop into the same spot your first character was? I am pretty sure ti was the latter.

So many skills I want to bring over....any idea if there are any skills that just won't be available in XV2?

For example, I love my Neo Tri-Beam and since that was DLC content I figured that would be a good pic.

Ugh the wait is gonna be horrible here in Japan. My brother in the states is picking his up early tomorrow.

I made a Freiza guy since I don't like the human/Saiyan hair
I keep hearing people say this, but the Saiyan/Human hair is great, IMO. Especially the ponytail.

I won't have the game for another day, but this is my Saiyan. Or... will be my Saiyan. I decided against making a Namekian or Frieza-man.

Be careful in 1 vs 1 the battle system is less deep than the tenkaichi series and the defense system is not really based on the timing like other DragonBall Z games by spike (tenkaichi 3 and Raging Blast 2) but on a stamina jauge ala Naruto Storm. All the awesome cutscene of ultimate attack from tenkaichi 3 are really lame in this one.

The game has a lot of combos for the offensive standpoint, but in case of defense it's really poor (no manual dodge, no teleport dodge based on the timing if you press the button on the right time, no kikoha deflection, No beam struggle).

It's more like a Dbz Legends PSX/Saturn with more deep in the battle system X Destiny for the coop aspect of parralel quest.

If you want a dbz game with rpg element with coop online aspect with 3 vs 3 battle ala dbz legend + building your own warrior + a battle system that is based only on offensive aspect, then this game is for you.
But if you want a game with deep battle system, all defensive element from dbz(beam deflection, beam struggle, teleportation based on timing, manual dodge, transformation count as a character and change the moveset, spectacular and faithful special and ultimate attacks to the anime, this game is not for you.

You have literally no idea how to play this game.

It's much deeper than Tenkaichi and you can do a lot of different things for the defense. It's just more about mind games than it is about timing I guess. But timing absolutely plays a part, you're completely ignoring the just guard system and the dodge vanish.

There's a timed guard even in the first game, guarding at the right time to block a hit.

This wasn't in the beta but am I correct in thinking that Super Saiyan still doesn't change hair style/shape and Super Saiyan 3 looks the same for everyone?

Can't wait to play this tonight. Dunno which race to choose though, maybe Freeza'a race.

Exactly.

I'm in the same boat with the race too, I'm between siayan and Frieza race.

Golden form is awesome, but IDK. Saiyan is what I was thinking.

In the beta I went frieza.

Fuck saiyans, everybody looking the same with their shitty ssj3 lmao. Glad the ssj spam is gone too.

I wanted to go Earthling, but they seem like they're lacking compared to the other races. Namekian giant form is kind of weird too, despite me liking literally everything else about them.

The transformation system seems the most fun to use. I went Saiyan with the first game, though... maybe I should go Frieza/Buu this time? Maybe giant form isn't that bad?

It's not all about transformations. Humans have fairly decent stats, plus they can use the Kaioken and unleashed potential, which makes their stats pretty good.

It's about swag. :p

And the power pole is extremely handy when you have to face multiple opponents at once.

Also giant form is great. And if you make a majin make a female.

I have a few questions :

I don't see Black in my roster.

And at what level do you get to fly ? Is it a story requirement or a level requirement ? In the city.
Any words on how to get Super Trunks ?

Does the story contain enough variation to make it worth a buy? One of my biggest fears is going through the same damn shit yet again.

The beginning is sure gonna feel like a rehash. It picks up later on.

But it's everything else that makes it worth it.

60 fps, dynamic contrast, completely revamped gameplay (basically a new game at this point, play the advanced tutorial in the city to see all you can do), lots of interactions with players online, lots of stuff to do in the city etc...

The game is much more enjoyable to play, which wasn't the case in XV1 (on console anyway).

Yeah yeah dodge vanish was already in Raging Blast 2 and just guard is nothing like the way you could defend yourself in the last dbz tenkaichi successor of spike(and i'm not talking about Counter Z in tenkaichi 3), but keep thinking this game is deeper than tenkaichi 3(or raging blast 2) when the ki is not a part of the battle system by default but a skill you need to use. This game is really poor in 1 vs 1 compared to other dbz fighting games, it's a fact but fortunately it was not made for that.

So the online parts of this need Plus?
I don't really play many online games, so I've never bothered to get Plus.
I did like the beta for this, though, so maybe I'll get it on Steam in that case.
Hmm, I guess the question then is if I should get it this week or wait a few months for it to go on sale.

No here's the thing. You can prefer other games. But you can't say it's poor because you're dog shit at it. That's not how it works. Many people disagree with you, they added a lot of mechanics to make this much better in 1 v 1. There's a lot of subtlety now.

XV 1 was garbage in 1 v 1, XV 2 improved it radically.

I can say the same to you with Tenkaichi 3 or Raging Blast 2, it seems you don't know how to play these games at all, but don't worry i'm done talking with you and enjoy your "deep gameplay". I was here just for ffvorax, because it seems to love the tenkaichi series and if he is a good player of these games, then he could be disapointed by xenoverse 2. No need to become mad because someone has criticized your little game Slaythe.

Oh don't you dare spinning this.

I never criticized Tenkaichi or Raging Blast. You're the one that interpreted it that way.

All I said was that you had no idea how to play XV 2. Which you don't. You literally don't know. You haven't spent enough time with it, and if you did, you did it wrong.

As I said, you can prefer the other games, but that doesn't instantly make this "poor" just because it doesn't fit what you expect from it. Especially coming from XV1 that was an abortion gameplay wise.

When you described the game, you showcased your absolute lack of knowledge regarding the gameplay. So I just called you out, there are many things to criticize about the gameplay, that has nothing to do with the matter.

so apparently there more transformations than the beta suggested
Super Vegeta and Future Saiyan are transformations

Saiyan has way to much going for it versus all the other classes. Would have been cool if they let you edit your forms for Frieza race. 1st 2nd 3rd Gold.

Meh, quality over quantity. Aside from the ability to spam ultimates, the different Super Saiyan forms in Xenoverse 1 were teeny improvements in either ranged or melee combat.

Their play-through should be a blast if their XV1 one is any indication.

I hope they use the character they designed for the beta, but I expect them to use someone else other than a Majin this time.

towards the end of the beta stream they pretty much confirmed they're going with Puddin, but that they'll likely tweak her design for the full playthrough

Oh oh oh, 60 FPS on console ? I might be interested now.

How does the story works online ? Is it a MMO lite type of thing playable in coop ?

Went with a Namekian this time. Was tempted to go human again, but wanted to do something different considering I spent about 3/4th of X1 as a human. There's just something about being a bad ass human in the Dragon Ball universe that is sick to me.

Played for aout 3 hours last night. Lovin the Namekian and the game so far. So hard to put down. I hate work and I wish I didn't have to goooooooooooooooo

But its not really quality is it. This game is just a Xenoverse expansion, rather than a new game.

So, I preordered this game last week frpm Amazon to get it on release day being a prime member. Nope, these assholes arent delivering until tomorrow and thats after I already saw yesterday the shipping information was wrong when they updated it. I called and the lady said it would be changed to deliver today. Yeah I got a notification this morning alright...Saying that it still wont deliver until tomorrow. I didnt preorder the game not to get it on release day Amazon. This pisses me the hell OFF.

Ive been telling myself that the servers will probably be shit in the beginning just to make myself feel better, but its not helping.

My issue is more that I was a Saiyan in XV1 and its just the sort of 'done thing' but they're so cool and I do love all the transformations.

I went Namekian and had a blast with the Giant form.

Did they fix the brightness issue that X1 had on PS4 and Xbox One had compared to PC? Those games were weirdly very dark and dulled compared to other games.

you can take clothing and make something called a QQ Bang soul, which overwrites all the stats of clothing (so that you can wear whatever you want)

clothing still has stats, but you can create a new equip item called a QQ bang that replaces your current clothing's stats

Unique SSJ hair depending on the style

Hopefully the modders for XV2 will be able to do the same thing for SSJ3. Its seemingly minor but has such a profound effect.
