The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition |OT| Winter is Here

lol! I had the same thing happen! I keep hearing a weird sound and I tracked it down to a tree. When I looked into the tree, I saw the bird!

Holy shit. At first I thought I heard a Nirnroot, but then I listened closely and it definitely wasn't a plant. I think it's calling for help.

That's been there since 11/11/11

The remastered version is a huge upgrade then, because that's the first time I've ever noticed it.

Are the faces and animations any better or did they just revamp static stuff like textures and meshes?

Yeah the default faces are trash, fucking hell. Even back then it was trash. At least in this one the default DoF kicks in and I get distracted.

I'm not sure if I should be sad that I never noticed that bird in years of playing skyrim. XD

And yet somehow it was less bad than Fallout. Good lord fallout faces (before 4 I mean) *shudders* I was so happy when I saw the Fallout 4 character creation and was like "I don't actually need mods for once!" I still used them of course but not for the first character XD That DoF is strong at least. XD

So I noticed the PS4 has a 14 gig download to start application and another 6 after that. Does anyone know what's going to be missing before I get the additional 6 gigs?

kris.

also had the same bird in the same tree haha

also the line of sight is absurd and gorgeous but grass doesn't spawn nearly as far as it should. it looks weird when you're up on a cliff overlooking Whiterun and there's no grass.

Guys, the default v-sync implementation was making the game stutter like crazy to me. So I set iVSyncPresentInterval=0 in the SkyrimPrefs.ini and set the framerate cap to 60 in RTSS. Now I'm getting a solid 1080p@60FPS with an i7 2700k and a GTX 970. I'm also using a g-sync monitor, that might be related.

Oh yeah, the faster ram on consoles seem to have helped imensely with loading times. Good stuff.

I'll try this tomorrow since I was having exactly the same problem as you, G-Sync monitor and all.

Steam reviews for this trying to make Metacritic user reviews look good.

Enjoying it so far. Much smoother experience, nice textures and lighting and the load times are so drastically improved it's almost confusing.

So I was going to fire this up on Steam but I looked at the requirements.

Required: HD 7870
What I am packing: HD6950

I really need to upgrade

Does using mods on the PC version disable achievements? From what I recall, it didn't for the original.

I know for consoles it absolutely does, but thought it was different on PC.

Lighting is much nicer, textures are still ass. I don't care what Bethesda says. It's like a lightly modded Skyrim but it runs fantastic. I can't wait to see when modders start getting to this on PC.

Nope same thing but I already linked a mod that disables that so problem solved.

And tex linked it for me since I was too lazy too XD there we go.

So how can I tell if I have the special edition (bought the legendary edition)? I mean it says I do in the store page, but maybe I'm stupid and can't really tell a difference when I launch the game.

It's a different game slot. Mine is right under my skyrim.

That and the main menu makes it super obvious with the addons and the mods options that weren't in the original.

It's a separate game. Check your full Steam library, you need to download the SE separately from the base Skyrim game w/ DLC.

Net allowing early press reviews may not be a smart business move after all.

Still no fov options. What's the console command again, and does it save or required to type in every time?

This is a really high quality shit post

Put 141 hours into the original version on Steam. I don't really use a lot of mods, a couple of tiny graphical ones but nothing that does anything drastic. Just too lazy to mess with them really.

But man this is a huge upgrade over the original release. Anyone who says otherwise is crazy. The foliage/grass density is immediately noticeable

Would love to get some PS4 impressions from people

Witcher 3 is better in every way imo, although in this game you can play however you want: sneak, magic, melee and each has there own tiers within it. Your character is a blank canvas basically, unlike Geralt. Main story is worse, combat is worse and most of the quests are fetch quests.

The big thing with Skyrim is modding, that why they game is always in the top ~10 on Steam everyday. I think it's worth checking if you've never played it before.

Yeah it was a joke :p
Please. The game was popular and loved before the mod community took off and was widely praised by the massive console audience, particularly 360. Let's not act like it didn't deserve awards by rewriting history. It's still ranking as one of the best games of all time, without mods.

If they're smart, it's likely just main quest stuff. Probably dialogue and characters that are strictly tied to missions in the campaign.

Xbone version... very distracting shimmering along the edge of the screen when I move the joystick all the way.

Edit: Turned on game mode on TV and it disappeared.

There's a mod out already called Open Town, I think, which means you just went right in to towns that are usually behind a loading screen.

I recommend that console users install this ASAP.

For you.

The only reason that it's still massively popular to this day is absolutely mods though. The vanilla game by itself is bad, bad, bad.

Yep. Not getting in at all on X1.

Guys it just dropped. Be patient. It will work.

You are SO lost. I played on 360 with no mods and it's in my top 3 games of all time (old school Madden, Dark Souls, and this).

It has a sense of exploration both above ground and below that has never been equaled in a video game.

And the magic is super fun.

I'm downloading the old version to hopefully get my old save back. Never got around to playing the DLC so it should be fun if I can start where I left off the old version

Initial technical issues aside, it's good to be back. Already discovered some stuff I had never seen before. Runs fabulously, too (970).
