American Horror Story: ? |OT| We know nothing about this season

Every episode since 5 has been worse than the last. I shudder to think how horrifically terrible the last one will be at this rate.

Oh AHS, you really had me going this season. But nope, another shit season that will get a lot of undeserved awards (I swear to FUCK Sarah Paulson better not get shit for this season) and is still highly rated for some inexplicable reason.

Sarah Paulson was great in tonight's episode. I love how self absorbed her character is even when in extreme peril.

The episode had quite a few darkly comic moments, in fact, like how neither British Sarah Paulson nor Lee would believe Cuba when he told them that it was Shelby who killed Matt, so they sent him outside to be killed by the Piggy Man. D:

Really wish the torture stuff wouldn't have gone so long:/

It definitely went on for too long - dragged the episode down quite a bit.

Lee is dumb but at least I understand her motivations since she confessed to killing Mason on camera.

I was surprised that she revealed that she actually was the one who killed Mason. I was rooting for her to be the survivor up until that point, so now I'm hoping it's Angela Bassett.

I still really don't get all the negativity directed at this season. It's easily the best the show has been in a few years (though Hotel had its moments).

This season is growing so unhinged, lol. But in a good way. I'm really enjoying how far it's come since the early episodes with fake-Matt and fake-Shelby in the house. Seeing that place become an actually-haunted slaughter zone has been extremely entertaining.

I will say that I detest torture scenes and gore. Those elements will keep me from rewatching this season as soon as I might have. Even so, this episode was great just for the pure intensity. It's an all out battle for survival now.

The humor is the other main thing I liked about this episode. Sarah Paulson's hilarious egotistical actress character is giving me my life. Her message to her fans and the remark about what a great scene partner Mr. Hacked-to-Death-by-Pig-Guy was... too good.

I'm completely mystified by the recent complaining in this thread. It seems like every time there's a new AHS season and thing start happening, some posters take it as a cue to grumble about the plot logic or bellyache about how generally terrible the show is.

Coven gives us a cast of totally over-the-top characters chewing scenery and being badass witches, with a plot that's obviously just a pretext to watch them interact, and people complain that the season sucks and makes no sense or whatever. Hotel directly addresses the series' recurring issues by offering great character development and a plot that finally ties up all its loose ends, along with a stylish aesthetic and setting, and people act like it's the same old thing. Roanoke gives us a big juicy twist and turns into a balls-to-the-wall gauntlet of horror, and people can't stop talking about how much it sucks.

There comes a point where persistent whining becomes totally gratuitous. Even masturbatory. We are well past that point now. Why even watch "shit" week after week? Why? Why do this to yourself and then get on GAF and complain about the thing you did? Don't you respect your own time? Wouldn't you rather watch something you like instead?

It feels to me like nostalgia for a show that never actually existed. AHS has always been what it is, with different elements getting more or less emphasis in each season.

Didn't really like this last episode it was probably my least favorite of the season so far. The torture stuff went on for way too long and I guess hiding in a bathroom saves you from ghosts? I am intrigued by why the actor who plays the Butcher's son shows up unless he was meant to show up in the Pig costume to just scare them which I guess would make some sense.

I think this is the weirdest episode but the worst. It was a bit pointless.

I also think its gonna be Lee who will last to the end.

The final episode is going to be a special episode hosted by the returning character that I mentioned previously in spoiler tags. They'll interview Lee about the events and there'll be some bombshells dropped.

Alternatively, Angela Bassett escapes. She is interviewed and it's revealed to be an elaborate setup. She is the one who discusses to our interviewer how she got through it all or how it was all set up.

Wes Bentley appearing at the end of this episode has me convinced it's a setup of some sort. But that's just SO inconceivable given how FUCKED UP everything has been. Like it's SO over the top of that's the case.

I just don't see Sarah Paulson surviving until the end this time.

Nah, I don't see this season winning any awards. There hasn't really been a single standout performance as far as I can tell. Just a lot of talented people being wasted.

Fuck. Another AHS having no idea how to bring the entire season to a finish. I will hold out hope there is some payoff or twist coming but I have been fooled before.

It certainly doesn't seem like they want us to sympathize with these characters much. I was on board with Lee before she admitted to killing her ex. Lots of spouse-murdering this season. lol

I think I'm #TeamGhost now.

Really? The season still has 2 more episodes left!

Same. Last night's episode was maybe not as good as the last few, but there was also nothing about it that was incongruent with the previous episodes. I'm not sure what people want out of the season at this point.

If people use the same excuse they do with The Walking Dead:

"Because there's nothing else on."

How are they so bad at finishing seasons? Literally every one I have gone into optimistically, but every SINGLE one ends up as total crap.

Because they are so good with establishing a premise and build-up, but are universally bad at resolution. Very common with horror shows\movies.

The characters are all so fucking stupid and such assholes.

What a joke that they would return to the house for a damn tv show after almost getting killed. Way too dumb. I stopped caring who lives and who dies.

actually thinking it became balls out great.

These last 2 episodes are pretty fun and ridiculously funny. Very entertaining.

Sarah Paulson and her awful English accent FTW. It has to be deliberate, its so bad.

We will find out in the last episode that we have been watching a movie all this time and that she's just an actress acting as a British actress. Hence the bad accent. The horror behind this whole season is lousy reality tv shows.

I don't understand all the hate, last episode was amazingly (and weirdly?) fun.

Couldn't stop laughing when all the different ghosts ended up around the staircase.

I am slightly disappointed that they didn't take the opportunity to make the Chens regular ghosts, thus indicating that the TV show had made them into typical J-horror ghosts out of some weirdly racist impulse. That would've been a good gag.

Still, I do like how all the real world ghosts are a lot more unsettling and less campy than their TV show counterparts. Hell, they're more disturbing than ghosts have tended to be in this show in general (where they're often just like regular people, only dead).

Last episode was shit but the season as a whole has been great

I'm enjoying it so far. My only complaint is the skull crushing deaths ugh between this and TWD it's too much.

I lost it when Fake Shelby said "Poor Shelby. It feels like a part of me is dying with her." Lmao

This show is really about the circular staircase. It's in every shot. We're really watching the slow destruction of its circular existence.

I was actually shocked at the restraint they showed in the torture scenes. Hotel had some of, if not the most, disgustingly gruesome and gory visuals I have ever seen in a movie or TV show, so I was very on edge for this episode. But instead of showing them pulling teeth out, or making the cuts of flesh, they'd cut away to do a wide shot, or they'd just show the aftermath. Well done.

I just felt empty while watching that last episode. It all felt off.

And the fact that the asian family are the only Grudge ghosts in the house is really annoying to me.

I loved that. British Sarah Paulson had so many funny lines in this week's episode.

*walks past Cuba Gooding Jr.'s corpse*

"He really was such a wonderful scene partner... gave me so much to work with..."

It wouldn't be a Ryan Murphy show without a ridiculously self-absorbed character. :p

The thing that bugged me about this episode. The ghosts don't seem to bother going after anyone who locks a door. The bedroom seemed like a safe haven for no apparent reason.

Yeah, this episode was just not well done. Given how good the other 7 eps have been, it sticks out bad.

I was surprised that she revealed that she actually was the one who killed Mason. I was rooting for her to be the survivor up until that point, so now I'm hoping it's Angela Bassett.
I could see Lee possibly being the survivor but then spends her whole life in prison for killing Mason.

Yeah overall I enjoyed last episode. There were a few dumb things but it didn't significantly effect my enjoyment of the episode. I thought for sure Lee or Audrey were gonners.

Yeah that was my only complaint as well. They should've just had Shelby and Cuba get demolished by the ghosts. Then Audrey and Lee come back and see the aftermath with the ghosts having left after killing Shelby and Cuba. The bedroom/bathroom being a safe haven was dumb.

My favorite was when Audrey said "Shelby would never kill herself. She is far too self-centered to kill herself. I would know I played her for 6 months."

I know right? I recently caught up on the whole season and was mystified by how much better it was than the last few seasons, and I went in HATING the very idea of this season from episode 1. Honestly, I think this might be my favorite season and I can think of a lot of reasons for it. But the big one is at how absurd and at 11 it is as a fucking whole. It becomes a dark comedy at points and I think that's amazing! 10 out of 10, I've been having a lot of fun and look forward to the last 2(? I thought we went to 13 usually?) episodes.

I didn't think that episode was so bad, quite surprised to see so much negativity here. What more do you guys want from something with horror in the title? What we got was some horror, murder, torture, characters doing stupid things etc

I'm just impressed Paulson said the word twat in the correct, british way.

All the more reason to think Fake Shelby is the one survivor or possibly even a physical manifestation of the Witch.

I'm watching the latest episode, and am half-way through it. It's been absolute dreck so far. Tough to watch.

How can they be proud of this garbage?

Every episode since 5 has been worse than the last. I shudder to think how horrifically terrible the last one will be at this rate.

It's already been asked but why on earth do you continue to watch something you clearly hate so much? We get it. You don't like this season. After every episode you're in here telling us how shitty it is and how you can't comprehend how anyone could possibly enjoy it. It's so tiresome. I get that it's a forum and it's meant for discussion but you're not spurring discussion, you just repeat the same thing every week "This is so bad. How can you people watch this" as you sit there inexplicably watching it yourself so you can come back when it's over and update us that you still hate it just as much as you did 40 minutes ago.

There are two episodes left in this season, I sincerely doubt it's suddenly gonna click for you. Just stop watching it. You've admitted you're forcing yourself through it. Why would someone do that? Your time is valuable, spend it doing something you enjoy?

Also not liking this season and for me it's gone like this:
- First few eps fairly meh
- Episode 6 interesting twist and keen to see where it goes
- Eps 7 & 8 garbage

With only two to go, I'm way too invested from a time point of view to not at least see how it ends.
