ohshit! An assortment of tiny creatures appeared out of nowhere and ganged up on you! What catchy tune do you want to blast from the battle god's ethereal boombox above? Figure if you're going to be hearing for %60-70 of your time, it better be damn good, right?

Final Fantasy X. This may actually be my favorite in the whole FF series, and it's certainly one of the most upbeat.

Final Fantasy XIII - Blinded By Light. Dat Hamauzu violin

Unlimited Saga - Battle Theme I. Never played this (doesn't sound like I'm missing much), but moar dat Hamauzu violin

Star Ocean 3 - The Cutting Edge of Notion. Fuck this game but god Motoi Sakuraba rocks so much

Tales of Phantasia - Taking Up The Cross. Another Sakuraba tune. Catchy and SNES-y

Tales of Symphonia - Like A Glint of Light. Hey again, Mr. Sakuraba. The first battle theme in the game isn't...great...but once this pops up the game gets like 40% better.

Most of the examples are probably going to be from JRPGs, but any genre is accepted.

I actually really didn't like it when I first started playing P3. But after 110 hours (it was my first Persona game, I took my time), it, and the rest of the music, wormed its way into my head and into my heart.

I'm at work, so I can't link it right now, but Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne's normal battle theme is the definition of badass. It's one of my favorite tracks in the entire MegaTen series.

Golden Sun, Persona 3, and Final Fantasy X get honorable mentions.
