Resident Evil 7: Beginning Hour demo now on PC [Steam]

Wasn't Denuvo cracked a few months ago?

No. An iteration of it that was present in Mankind Divided got cracked. This took some time even though another iteration was cracked for Rise of the Tomb Raider. There's not really been a general crack for Denuvo. It normally takes several months before it gets cracked. After that, publishers and developers typically don't care. Some even disable it themselves after that point. It's a deterrent to piracy in the first few months basically.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
IT'S THERE!

on my i56600k (not OC), GTC 980 and 16gig DDR4 RAM I am hitting around 100FPS at all times with everything maxxed, I get a boost in the VHS part.

HOLY SHIT this game runs like a dream! (RX480)

It never drops below 100fps. It feels amazing at 144hz my god! The only thing I switched off was HBAO+ for SSAO. Everything else is maxed out. I hope this is an accurate depiction of the full game's performance.

Only thing I worry about is that the game might be too easy to control with M+KB. I might have to play on a higher difficulty if that options available.

Playing right now...amazed by how Resident Evil the whole thing feels so far! It feels fresh yet familiar...keys, items, the grid inventory, the options in the inventory (combine, examine, use), the 180 degree turn. I'm much more impressed than from when I watched videos of the game. I like how you can see your feet when you look down to a degree. I got spooked from a few jump scares, and paused the game because I'm too scared to continue. I can safely say this demo succeeded in hyping me up for the final game.

Demo performance should be indicative of the full game. HBAO+ and high shadow setting is resource-intensive, so you'll need to budget your settings accordingly.

That's good to hear! I don't mind switching off hbao+ game looks great regardless.

Also remember that the performance will definetly be improved until launch and with official drivers. I don't think high end PCs will have problems with 144hz.

Game looks completely gorgeous maxed out. HBAO+ is definitely a framerate killer though.

Open in a new tab and press F11

I'm wondering what the 'console equivalent' settings would be?

Damn, this could be a pre-rendered background from Remake.

HBAO+ makes a really big hit at 1440p...so switch it to SSAO if you're having any issues with that

with everything at it's highest (and SSAO) it runs great...4690K/1070 here

Consistent 60fps on what seemed like medium settings? GTX 760 + i7 2600, here. I did not mess with the graphics options since it ran so good, so I couldn't say specifics. Also, if you prefer using a Steam Controller, I'm going to say it now; no simultaneous gamepad+mouse. I was kind of expecting it, since Capcom rarely allows for that option, but it's still a bummer.

Played the original demo on PS4 a long time ago and goddamn, this seems like another stellar PC port from Capcom. Really impressed with the visuals. I will admit, being able to play 144 fps on a G-Sync monitor will likely reduce some of the horror effect. I'll take it, though!

Oh yeah HBAO+ totally takes like 40 frames away, now running at everything maxed with SSAO at 140 FPS on a 6600k + GTX 980

This is an unusual performance hit from SSAO to HBAO+. Should be fixed until launch (I hope, because HBAO+ is the best AO).

Whew.. This game is pretty demanding when you bump the resolution up. I might try out turning off HBAO+. This game will not break 60fps maxed out @ 4K. With good reason too. This game looks great.

Have everything turned up and running at 3132 x 1764. I get around 80fps at this res.

Anyone using something else other than FXAA+TAA?

I don't like how the shadows are made, it looks like the rays of light come from the infinite(in parallel) rather than emitted by a flashlight(cone shape).

You can't even see the shadow of many objects.

I just used SMAA...if there's a big difference between them I didn't see it (I don't have an eye for that type of stuff anyway)
