Where, oh where, is the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller?

Many of us hate tiny buttons. You don't have to use the Joycon to know that if you hate tiny buttons, you're going to hate playing with those versus the Pro with has a real dpad and large buttons.

Yea no, me and my big ass hands is one of the main reasons I want the pro controller, don't really feel like playing on those mini pizza scrollers, and two I prefer a more traditional controller TBH. Also it be neat to have this as a secondary controller because what if the pro controller battery runs out? I'll just switch to the joy con grip controller meanwhile the pro controller charges. and yes i know that there a charge grip controller and what not, but I am not trying to have to many damn accessories either.

How can people say this with such confidence? I'm holding off on this controller. The joy cons with grip could feel just fine to great, why would I need a pro if the joy cons did the job? Also I'm as hell not carrying that controller around on the go so it seems pointless.

I just don't really want to use the joycons when playing on tv. I'd rather just leave them on the grip and only use em in portable mode. I'm much more apt to use portable mode around the house if I can just grab it from the dock and go. Having to move the joycons from grip to dock and back would get old fast for me.

The Pro controller got excellent feedback, and quite frankly, some people just prefer a more traditional form of input. No one is saying that the Joycons suck but some might prefer playing certain games with the pro, that's all it is.

Nintendo is the one offering the option day 1, so it's kind of a bummer that a preorder seems difficult to come by.

What's the most affordable way to get this delivered launch day in the US? Does Amazon JP give that option, and is it free/reasonable with Prime?

This is an absolutely ridiculous situation.

I don't think you can. If you order from a different region it probably won't ship till March 3rd and will take a while to arrive.

Plus the shipping from those regions will cost a lot.

This are just two of the reasons this is such an annoying situation...

It's not that bad surprisingly..my final cost actually ended up being around $70 after shipping heh.

I don't think I hate "small" buttons. And I haven't used their dad yet so I don't know how it will feel.

Yeah looks like that is true.

Alright, I ordered one from amazon.co.jp just to be sure...

Switch releases on a Friday and the controller (shipped from Japan) is scheduled to arrive the following Mon or Tues, which is really fast and reasonable.

Here is the link to it again in case others are interested.

There have been several stupid things related to the Switch launch: the MIA pro controller, Bomberman price fluctuating based on audience reaction, and Binding of Isaac becoming a launch game seemingly without Nintendo's knowledge.

Still pumped for the Switch, of course! But this launch has seemed a tad ill-prepared.

Yeah, a bunch of weird crap has been happening like regular games selling out or listings getting pulled. Dragon Quest Heroes was up for a few days but then got pulled from Amazon and Best Buy.

Ergonomics. With the right stick directly below the buttons it will be uncomfortable to move your thumb down to access it. Same for the d-pad on the left side. The pro controller has the traditional GameCube style layout with d-pad and right stick moved slightly inward.

Still in the system if you click through from your order, says no longer available "out of stock".

I'm interested in seeing how reviewers will treat this controller now that the buttons are back on top. Every professional Wii U Pro review was pretty much the same "bu-bu-but it's all backwards, I don't even know where to push!" bullshit and the controller didn't get the credit it deserved. With the staggered layout on the Switch Pro I'm still holding out hope for at least one "the XYBA buttons are in the wrong order."

I'd like to give the joycons a chance too, but no matter what they don't have a D-pad so sidescrollers won't be ideal (and Nintendo will probably have a lot of them). I also assume the HD rumble will work much better using the Pro controller vs the joycons in the plastic grip.

Plus, the Wii U Pro has been great for PC gaming and I can only assume the Switch Pro will be usable pretty quickly as well. If it's not recognized as a controller when connected via USB, Mayflash will be on it. Getting gyro controls alone would make it worth the upgrade for me, especially if Valve gives it support as they've done for PS4/XBox. There are plenty of reasons to want it even if the joycons are fine on their own.

I pre-ordered one from Amazon JAPAN last night. On the PC it was real easy to register and order, because near the Amazon search bar Amazon has an option to turn most things into English.

With current exchange rates, the total price including international shipping came to $70 and some cents. A few dollars cheaper than what I would've paid, if I had to pay US sales tax. Amazon.co.jp says it will be delivered on March 6th or 7th.

The Wii U Pro controllers were hard to find for a few weeks after launch, even though you could easily find the console. So I don't want to go through with that if I don't have to.

I don't know what NoA's deal is with Pro controllers.

Its to the point now where even if these do get put up for pre order, they will be sold out in about 30 seconds.

Go fuck yourself Nintendo.

This guy actually asked Nintendo, but did not get a response. http://www.businessinsider.com/nintendo-switch-pro-controller-pre-order-2017-1

It's not actually available for purchase just yet — even though other Switch accessories are.

The latter bit is our primary concern right now. The console is up for pre-order everywhere, and it's set to launch on March 3. But the Pro Controller is nowhere to be found. Bizarrely, Nintendo isn't saying; we asked a rep and haven't heard back.

If I order from Amazon Japan do I need to make another Amazon account if I already have one?

I believe you do need an all-new account. At least you did when I first signed up for one a few years ago. Don't worry though amazon.co.jp has an english language option (won't need google translate... well, most of the time)

When I first started using them you had to use forwarding services like Tenso, but now they offer amazon global shipping and the entire process is painless. It's around $10 to ship the pro controller and it will arrive in just a few days.

LOL, I was doing it all on my android phone last night struggling and patiently waiting for Google translate to do it's thing so I could order this controller. Thankfully, it all went through OK. I did get a fraud alert on my debit card today, but I called right away and had them lift any holds.

It wasn't until later in the evening that I noticed the English toggle on Amazon JP when I was browsing on my computer. Now I know so it's going to fun to order things off of Amazon JP in the future. I can't believe how simple it all is to do. It also ships very fast and adds negligible expenses to get it here.

Hah, ordered one as well. Thanks for the head's up! Price seems very reasonable compared to most of the Canadian prices on .ca as well. From what I can tell, you aren't charged till it ships like other Amazon countries, correct?

First party? Most probably a game from Sucker Punch and another from Japan Studio.

ND is already doing the Uncharted expansion and TLOU2. Bend is doing that zombie game. MM is doing Dreams. Santa Monica is doing GOW. KojiPro is doing Death Stranding. Insomniac is doing Spider-Man. Quantic Dream is doing Detroit. Polyphony Digital is doing the GTS.

Third party? I'm hoping for REmake 2.

The stress of not being able to order the pro controller must have really broken jsnepo...

Pre-ordered through Amazon Japan. I guess I'll just cancel if I know I can get one earlier somewhere here in the states. Would love to get my hands on one before the system launches.

Well that's cool. The total price on my Pro Controller dropped 600 yen. I ordered yesterday at 8000 yen. Now it updated to 7400 yen. Converts to $64...officially cheaper than getting it here in the US, lol...well as long as the exchange rates don't change that much by the time March rolls around..

Same here, pretty great considering we'd expect to get it only 3-4 days after launch day.

Yeah I'm still holding out hope that it shows up on Best Buy so I can do another Visa Checkout order..but there's only a couple days left there. Playing Zelda with the joycons for a few days should be fine while I wait for this controller. Worth it if I'm getting it cheaper than I could here.

Any chance of the card being denied due to ordering from overseas? I've never ordered something from Japan before and worry my bank will think it's fraud or a stolen card.

I checked out no problem, think since it's Amazon they have a way of it not really looking suspicious.
